Annoys me when people call them cars 2, and SU fn Vs. if it has mileage like a truck here we call it RUCs for those that don’t know, road user charge’s) if it has a commercial designation regardless of engine type, other than a van, then its a truck no matter the size. You are paying using the same system as designated by Land Transport, however Tonka is apt though and I’d agree with that. Only Aussie’s would have a Bundy of so many variants wtf lol, we just had 74/75/76s SWB LWB, I can only understand Al Bundy, still very cool you guys these and show us them, i’m just teasing about the rest and pretty envious actually, plus a chick that has 2 has to be pretty dam bonza, choice! go you good thing, pse show them ripping around in next vid, like a bit of grass tearing up and donutting in the bush🤙 Ps I did learn allot this morning thanku.👻
I wish we had these in the states. They gave us the Tacoma which is too wide and nearly the size of an F150 with less power. I would rather have a small truck like the shorty for my needs
We had a Bundera when I was a kid. Would love to have one of my own one day, but it's unlikely to happen. Every time I get in a 70 series I'm reminded of it! What really sticks in my head is the suspension in the seats ours had. You'd turn a handle to set your weight and it'd adjust for you, but i was a skinny little kid and never quite weighed enough to make it useful.
Thanks guys for a nostalgic video. I bought a new Bundera petrol in 1992 absolutely loved it charcoal metallic paint, pin stripes were a killer though. Should of got a matt paint for the bush. I was recovering from a broken left leg and the clutch was sympathetic compared to my previous FJ variants Id graduated from including an old 1966 3 speed.
I have a kzj70, 3.0 td (1kzt). Amazing motor. Amazing suspension, 4 coil springs, just like the bundy's. 267k miles (430k km) and still rolling like when it was brand new.
Hi Matt,i have a 2LT bundera ,its more economic than KZT,about 10/12 litres/100km and much less power too :D ,i have the OME+7 ou +5 (dont remember) suspention kit and i dont thinks its a confortable car,if you know some coils brand that are softer, tell me :) . with 4.88 diff ratio its like a tractor,i did a 6000 KM trip from Portugal to morroco, average motorway speed of 95 km/h
i got a 2004 toyota landcruiser j70 short wheel base looks like matt's landcruiser from the rear but from the front it looks like jess's landcruiser the guards and the indicators i think the middle east version is different than the australian but i love how it looks with the guards and the sticky out indicators and whenever i search for a part or a cluster speedometer or a stripes for my landcruiser i get confused with all the other different types that you got (the world wide market)
Having owned an 85 lx bundy, an 80 series, an 03 hilux and now a 2012 hilux, the bundy is no doubt my favourite truck, gold up back seat, tons of room for dinks touring, had full electric suite with a sun roof, chrome sun rasias and arb bar, it was awesome, 22r was a let down though. And had the vacuum assist 4wd actuator stuff up over at Moreton island, that was fun 😆
PitmanCabinetmaking they have a way of doing that! My FJ73’s whole charging/battery system shot itself 3 days before a week long trip to Fraser - lucky the Sparky was able to work some quick magic!
Daniel Fish my son is 13 and is dreaming of a hj70 Ute to do up as a project. I learnt to drive in my dads fj40 so I have a soft spot for shorty landcruisers
how are they on petrol/diesel I'm thinking of getting one to use has an everyday/all round car. do you get good gas mileage (first time car owner have my p's)
I presume you're in the States? If you can get a diesel, do so -- the fuel-economy of the 1 PZ is phenomenal for a LandCruiser. Mine's 30 yrs old, and for bitumen/HWY driving, with tyres at HWY pressures, I am still getting just on 10L/100km (more when under a full load, in 4WD, and/or on bush tracks, of course).
Yes, the bj70/71- shortys and the bj73/74 middies, have the same dimensions from the A pillar forward as the 75/79 utes so you can easily fit a 4.2 6 in you just have to cut off the engine mounts and move them to suit the 6.
Sorry, but that is not a bandeira. A bandeira has 40 serie base. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mabcxtG430I.html. Youre "bandera is a landcruiser, its on the side.... Its a FJ70
You are confusing it with the Bandeirante which is based on the j40. it was made and sold in Brazil with a Mercedes Benz OM-364 engine then changed later to the 14B you can identify them mainly by the square headlight instead of round.
Good video for me. I have a Japanese imported 70 Prado in the UK. The Bundy looks so similar, same suspension and engine. Maybe do a comparison if you find one. Oh, yes, they come with an Auto, so it will be possible to put an Auto in yours using factory parts. It's a four speed with overdrive, which really helps the little 2.4. If you need any info on part numbers, let me know.
@@MadMatt4WD Oh OK, so the Bundy evolved into the Prado, fascinating. I think it was 1990 and they only built them for a few years, until 96. I have a 91 in the UK, I just love it. Parts can be fun to find so to learn about the Bundy really helps.
My dad bought a BJ73 mid-wheel base brand new in 1985 and I've own it since 2005. :) Everytime something breaks or stops working I get excited about how i'm going to make it better. I replaced the 3B engine with a 13BT and got 30% more power with 25% better fuel economy! There's a Nakamichi front end and a huge 15" JBL sub with four 6 1/2" JBL's in the rear and of course the very much needed brake booster upgrade! One thing I find frustrating is the lack of reference to the BJ73, BJ74 and the RJ70 Bundy in part listings. They seem to always start from 75. :(
All models 4 cil diesels and coil spring vehicles from land cruiser are light duty cars. Only the six cilinders coil and the 4 cil leaf spring are the heavy duty cars, they all have Full floater axles. Except the 13BT car.
Proud owner of a 1990 1PZ (with a bit of ARB tweaking, naturally) ... had from new, 300K on the clock, been almost everywhere, and still going strong. And no, it's not for sale!
Yes but they're not this series. We have those vehicle here to. These are RJ LJ70 and BJ series vehicles. Some did come with the PZ diesel which is the 5 cylinder version of a 1HZ.
