is there an option to record while parked or driving when motion is detected on the back camera? especially if there is a crash detection with incoming vehicle at abnormal speeds?
I pickup up my Venza yesterday. Still learning about this car and didn't know what to expect from this mirror, but holy cow is it cool! Do people leave it on all of the time or do you flip it up to consult as needed? I think, while driving, it may take some getting used to. The biggest problem I see is when you drive a car w/out it, boy will you miss it.
very useful if it starts to snow when driving, especially in the northeast. snow comes quick and all you need to do is clear that snow from the camera with the wipers occasionally. much better view .
i'll sorely miss the right mirror camera on my recently deceased 2015 Honda Fit, it looks like this feature is an answer to some of the benefit i got out of that camera. i would use that camera as a partial rearview when fully cargo loaded for example, this camera also looks like it has decent side angle as well that would get some of what my mirror camera would
so you adjust the mirror via electronics rather than by hand. my husband and i are different heights, so this is going to be fun. i traded my '09 vw tiguan for a '21 highlander and i'm mourning the simplicity of the controls in the vw. all of these electronics are not necessary, imo. the cruise control is complicated and i'm constantly looking at the dash instead of the road when i'm using the cc. the only cool thing that i'm looking forward to doing is being able to listen to my fave talk radio podcasts via the audio system (not called radio, hmmmm). are you filming this while on the clock by the way? (maybe this is why the boeing 737 max's are crashing---too much electronics).
That is an awesome feature. Would we be able to keep that on the entire time we're driving, and if it blows out is the feature just gone or will it cost an arm and a leg to replace it or correct it? Just curious. So far, imo, it's worth the $600 it costs.
Digital mirror is not a dash cam it is a monitor of the back cam. I suggest this dash cam if you want one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ekp6UfJ7NkE.htmlsi=0k92CSNlEWjq4MWD
what's the battery indicator on the top right corner? I think sometimes it displays half "charged" and sometimes "empty", and my Home Link range has gone now... might it be related?
How did you solve your question about the battery (camera) indicator in the upper right corner, I also have an empty indicator icon. Thanks, I'll wait for an answer.
My question is at night time I cannot see clearly thru tge camera so I switch it back to normal mirror. Is there a way to adjust it to better view at night?
Thank you very much Steve. For me you are the clearest in your presentation of the 2021 Venza. One question, can the side mirrors be programmed in any way with/without key fob on my Limited?
It is standard in the xse hybrid, limited hybrid, limited and limited awd. It is available in the xle premium 2 and all wheel drive, the adventure series and the TRD offroad.
What about when you are driving? I would like to see how it looks while driving. What is preventing me to buy the Sienna is the rear mirror. While I was testing driving the entertainment TV was on the way I couldn’t see the back. And my kids pretty much watch tv while I am driving so I do need a car with the tv. If this digital mirror is gonna fix that then I will definitely get the car.
Bear in mind that the image comes from a camera outside of the car. So anything going on in your car (TV, something blocking the back window, etc.) won’t be affected by this. This should be standard on every car.
What is white emblem that is the same emblem on the dash, "view" button in the upper right hand corner of the mirror? It seems to just be there for no reason?
The 2023 Prius Prime I'm thinking about buying doesn't have a rear wiper. I was thinking the digital rearview mirror might be a way to see clearly through the rear window. But if the area of the rear window in front of the camera isn't getting wiped, won't that obscure the image the camera provides?
Wife has hybrid Avalon 2022 she’s turned compass off on the mirror and we do not know how to turn it back on. Tried everything don’t wanna go to dealership. Can you help.
thanks for the answer, it seems there is a battery in the mirror, it lasts a certain time and it needs to be changed, we will remove the mirror and look for the reason why the camera does not work, thanks again
Steven Welch 👍 I got it, thank to you. I have a question and will like to know if you experience this, in my new Toyota RAV4 2019 when I open all the windows 50% In a hot day and I used Apple car after few minutes Apple car play stop function I have to turn off the car completely and turn it on again in order to work.
That's cool they put the camera inside of the rear glass so if the rear glass if full of schmutz, the wiper can clear the view. I have a Nissan LEAF with the camera outside just above the license plate. It's pretty much worthless since it gets coated with so much road spray I can never see very well out of it.
That plastic panel with the hump where the camera is housed, is that available to buy separately? I have a 2019 LE and I'm thinking of buying an aftermarket digital rear view mirror, but I would rather not cut or make holes in the original panel in case I sell the car in the future. And holding the camera with double sided tape would be no good, especially in the summer when the car is baking in the sun. Is there a product number I can look up? Thanks.
No it is available on the rav4 xle premium standard on the limited and xse. On the highlander it is standard in the platinum and available in the limited

So I have a 2021 rav 4 premium. Bought brand new. It is feb 2024 and I was trying to tie in a radar detector into the mirror wiring. I accidentally made the discovery of the video feature of the mirror. I can’t believe I drove this thing for almost 3 years and just now figuring this out 😂😂😂
