Toyota has problems with spring breakage on trucks. Be sure to check for those also. Usually breaks at the leaf hot spot around the river. My 97 Tacoma has one now. Great video Andy!!
Where are you located? My 2002 Taco is SO MUCH more rusted than you '89... I'm in the St. Louis, MO area. I guess it shows just how bad it is to drive on salted roads in winter! Because it's not just my frame that is rusted (the recall issue) - my leaf spring bushings and hangers and shackles are ALL rust-welded solid! Anyway, watching how you do this is really helpful! thanks for making this video!
Nice. I have to do this same job on my 1986. Did you try to tapping out the metal sleeve as one piece 1st? I have a ball joint press with cups that might work on the whole sleeve
Got a video of these bushings afterwards, if they improve handling or anything? I have a 2010 tacoma prerunner, and my rear suspension squeaks like crazy. I bought this bushing set but haven't installed them yet.
How do tou know whether or not the metal outer sleeve needs to be removed? I bought a full kit by nolathane (NEK12) and i dont really have instructions, the rear eye went in without needing to remove the sleeve (cant evem remember if it had one now) but the front eye is a much tighter fit, im suspecting that i need to cut that sleeve out but i dont want to make a major fuckup.
Thanks for the response. I’ve got leaf spring and control arm poly bushings and have on the fence about installing them. Any experience with the control arm bushings haha. I’ll put the leaf bushings on this week.
