Toyota Prado 90 Series // Snorkel Install // All The Hard Bits! 

Hey mate Firstly, what are you looking for? More torque or more top end power? What type of wheeling do you intend to do?

@@OzTrax4X4 hi ,thanks for your respond , i am looking for multiple option i would prefer more top end power , i am wonder if there a way to disconnect my front wheel ? and if the is any way to made my automatic gear box shifting manually like tiptric ? thanks ;)

@@hamieuxcarl69 If you're looking to stay with a naturally-aspirated engine, I'd look at putting headers on the vehicle and a sports exhaust system around 2.5 inches in diameter. That will give you a little more response. The next step up is supercharging the engine. This will give you more torque across the entire rev range. For top end power, turbocharging is another way to go. Just remember, with any sort of forced induction, you will need to change injectors, install a high flow fuel pump and run standalone engine management to get the best out of it. Failing to do those things can result in destroying your engine if left untuned. Regarding shifting like a tiptronic, there is a place here in Australia who may be able to do that for you, adapting a later model Prado automatic gear shifting system. @@blackravenmotorsport oh no i am not looking for turbocharge or either supercharging because here in france the legislation is horrible when you touche at the inside of the motor , but hey i will ask orto ;) for sure aboute that shifting transs , is that the one Oto who is doing some trip off road with shauno and graham , because i am a bigbig follower ;) of you guys , to come back on the car , i think that i will do the exhaust for sure and headers as well , i am welder so i think that will not be to complicate for me ;) , is there a best material steel or stainless ? there some other transmission that a can put on my 3.4L like 6 gears ? to make it more efficient on highway and one last one , there a way to disconnect the front wheel ? because it is permanent 4wd , and i would like to shift it only when i need it ? thanks Mate

Hey mate I hope it gives you some idea, it was never meant to be an instructional video as some people have assumed in the comments 😂 The only thing I'm concerned about with the eBay snorkels is the UV rating of the plastic, as some do turn white after long periods of sun exposure.

Yeah I thought that too and was tenpted to get the safari But for the price and how long I plan to keep the car I thought I'd roll the dice. Cheers again mate.

Hey bud. Yep, definitely 83mm. I went out to the shed to check. The one I used was a Sutton Tools Bi-Metal holesaw with arbor to suit. 🤠👍 And yes, it was a wild ride that one, still not done with recovery yet either and that was almost three years ago.

Hi Russell. 🤠 Do you have the template or instructions for your snorkel?

Hey Dylan, glad you're enjoying the videos. 😎 Water won't ruin anything as long as the outer casing of the wiring isn't damaged. Salt water will ruin a lot though. I recommend a snorkel for water crossings and travelling along dirt roads as the higher air intake point will result in less dust entering your filter while being behind another vehicle. I'd recommend looking at your lower ball joints before you go any further if they haven't been replaced either as they are a wear item unfortunately in the 90 series.

I do still have the template. My issue is finding a thin piece of cardboard somewhere to transfer it onto as its rather large. I could look into it again and see if I can find something this coming week. Jump over onto Facebook and send me a message there and I'll see if I can help you out.

Great question! As long as you don't drill all the way through into the structural part of your A Pillar, it's perfectly legal. You're only drilling through the outer skin of the panel.

Yeah mate, it was never an instructional how-to video, it was just showing all the hard parts. Instructions are pretty clear though if you decide to get one and give it a go yourself. 🤙

From memory it was 83mm. If you check the installation instructions from Safari 4X4, they state what tools are required there, just make sure you get a holesaw suited for metal.
