Touring or Base models have no bearing on the number of buttons on the MFD. I have a 05 and a 08 Prius, neither of them are Tourings and both have 7 button MFDs because they have navigation and I have seen Tourings with 4 button MFDs.

I have a 2nd gen JDM Prius. It’s the US Grand touring version of Japan And I have a problem. The screen doesn’t show past fuel consumption or regen thing on that graph. Yesterday I drove for 110km and the graph was blank and when the car moves the arrows and everything work but the wheels are moving It should move right?

my radio and MDF blank out, but my clock still works, some time it will come back on in the middle of a drive. But when I shut the car off and restart its out again untile it comes back on when it wonts to. and ideas

Yes, that is common when MFD starts to fail.

Our 2008 Prius just recently had a MFD meltdown. the screen kept rebooting, then came lines and then a burn out look. Now it is completely black. We checked the fuses and they all looked fine. Prior to this the dash and mfd would dim then brighten. How do we fix this without spending hundreds to get it back working?

If a 2009 Prius MFD is changed out with an identical one with the same part number from another vehicle (eBay) does it require "reprogramming" or should it plug and play like the original?

My 2005 Prius MFD goes on and off and the Lexus logo often boots up. Is it the MFD or a power issue? I swapped out with a used one and it did the same thing.

This is a rare but known issue specially for the 04-05 since the firmware of both Toyota and Lexus was pre-loaded onto the MFD. When it starts to have circuit board failure the Lexus or Toyota logo will flash and constantly reboot. This is repairable with UpFix.com regular repair service

For my 2008 pruis The touch screen works and the back up camera but it keeps turning off and on as if it was glitching. Please let me know what can be done to fix it

It sounds as though your having intermittent power loss. There's not to much you can do on your own to fix it. We have had success in doing this repair though. You're welcome to send it in.

My 2009 MFD has a total power loss so I'll be sending it in to you. However, my Radio also has no display. Radio works, just has no display. Can you repair the radio as well?

I have a Gen 2 2007 Toyota Prius with the 4 button MFD stop working model 86110-47230 The company said the original one had a power supply that went completely dead on it. Not the normal circuit board issue. So I replaced it with their refurbish model 86110-47230 same replacement number. The refurbish stopped working as well after 6 miles of being installed. Sent that back to the company and they tested it and said it went into safe mode and would shut off. They sent me another known good one. Now I have not installed this one yet. My question is what could be causing the MFD to stop working . I've checked the wires , harness, fuses etc.. They all seem to be in working order. Any helpful hints I would greatly appreciate it.

It’s rare for it to be a fuse, wiring or harness issue. Most of the time, it’s the MFD unit itself. Power supply PCB can fail but not as commonly as the main software PCB. There’s 4 circuit boards inside that unit. If they replaced the main software along with the power supply PCB, as long as it’s the same part no. or supersedes it, the unit should be plug-n-play.

I have a 2009 Prius with the same issue as stated from the Q&A at the beginning of the video. I was wondering what actually went bad with the unit? Is this a power issue? Bad capacitors? Bad solder joint? I want to try and repair this myself if it’s fixable any help would be appreciated

I get the lines on the 7 button one.. and my dash lights went off even after doing the blinker trick

Can you sell just the LCD portion directly? I have bought 2 of these damn things on eBay to try and fix mine and the first one was known to be burnt (sunburst) and confirmed that yes indeed my problem was not just the LCD because that one when added to the rest of my system turned it from just black to just white. Something else going on here. The 2nd one I learned after the fact was slightly a different layout because despite it having the same 7 buttons the plugs on the back are different and the [several-dozen-pin-zif] cable is offset by a half inch--just enough to not fit on my current rig. Please can you sell and ship just a guaranteed working LCD (don't even need the digitizer)?

The system I bought with the sunburst LCD works perfectly but for the hard-to-read LCD.
