What you say is right but you're forgetting something. Once a module or block is replaced, the battery needs to be balanced. If you don't then you'll street the modules around the new ones and since they're old, the stress will make them go bad quicker. Then senor citizens, can't revamp them by putting new ones next to them.

Unless things have changed recently, putting in a new battery is not that easy. You have to make sure you take out the orange safety plug on the left side of the battery for starters and then you have to remove the entire battery from the car. Be careful because you may be dealing with 200v. Also, these batteries are connected in series I believe and the metal straps that hold them together can be corroded. You may have to clean them or get new ones. Also, if you have one bad block, chances are you may get more in the future. I also heard that you have to balance charge the blocks? And, I also heard they don't sell new blocks! You may be able to get a new battery from Toyota but get ready for sticker shock because the last I heard, these batteries can cost thousands of dollars! That may be why the seller decided to get rid of the car because the repair probably cost more than what the vehicle is worth. As DIY's, we may be able to fix it but I don't think it is all that easy! The good news is I believe there are people on the Internet that may be able to sell you a complete reconditioned battery for much less than a new one!

Video it really helped me out allot I want to buy one & now I am not to frightened about it now.. when I was test driving one today the abs system light was but the battery showed it was going up it does have some mileage on it though 172,000.00 miles but most of them Prius have a crazy amount of miles on them over 300,000 miles
Just bought a 2008 prius, it's a standard, not the touring model, when you hit the breaks it beeps nonstop, and it acts like it doesn't want to start, the ABS and VSC lights stay on, I'm new to a prius, don't know anything about them, does anyone know why it's doing this, and what can I do.
Beeping is an alarm. You have to get the car checked out. It could be your ABS system. Check brake fluid level. It should be between min. and max. level. Check ABS fuses. These warning lights came on my car last Friday and I know my 12v battery was weak so I got a new battery yesterday as a replacement under warranty so it did not cost me anything. I will put the battery in tomorrow and I have to reset the lights. I don't have the alarm going off so my ABS system should be OK. I checked brake fluid level and ABS fuses and they both look good. I've had many issues with the 12v batteries. They seem to not last 2 years in my car. I believe its due to the high heat in my garage in summer and I'm retired so I don't drive the car everyday. I have a trickle charger and I may have to leave it on the car in the summers. Good luck.
hi my 2005 toyota prius battery will show blue voltage and then some times it will show green full charge then drop down where it is suppose to be.is the green telling me some thing.

The Prius indicates the battery is draining fast as I drive it. I bring it home with one purple bar and a red triangle lit up. I pull the HV battery and all cores test 7.6 volts, and hardly drop under load. What is telling the car the battery is running out when it actually isn't and causing all these problems

Let me see if ull answer this.. the Christmas lights went on 2 days ago, so everytime I park, my battery cells go from blue to red quick, but when I'm driving, it goes up again.. Bcuz it goes down really quick when I park my car..should I be concern?
If u lease a car u shouldNEVER pay for GAP because that must be included in ur car note by law here in California, on a finance u can pay extra for ur GAP and that's gonna be extra to ur monthly note :-) I bought a 2008Prius with 127K miles and with a full tank of gas I do about 300 miles, my battery charges when I drive and sometimes it's empty or the battery screen is white, no blue stripes, how do I know that I need to replace my battery ?

Hi unlike you I know very little about so my wife and I are debating should we buy a 2006 hybrid for $2,500 and they'll put in a new battery pack for $1,800. Or do I buy the same year that's got 180,000 the battery still is it needs a display screen
hi i have 2gen anniversary Prius. so had problem. drive through error came (VSC/Trangle/(!) ) main display left coiner show Red car. after error showing few second drive through gone the READY & cut off engine. my garage fellow repair the hybrid battery & do the engine turnup but after 2days came same problem. plz help me solve it
