Prius is the most popular car in Japan. It's the only choice if you need mileage AND space. Otherwise, you get one of those kei cars if saving gas is really what you want, which are also extremely popular in Japan.

Back in 2015, during a legit bipolar moment, I was stopped at a red light next to a car dealership. I made a split decision to trade in my 2015 Ram Laramie for a Red Prius, just like this one. I drove it home and my kid wouldn’t look at me. When he did look at me, he’d ask me how Dirty Mike and the boys were doing. Fortunately, I only had the Prius for a couple weeks before I traded it back in for something else. The Prius was by far the worst of a lifetime of bipolar moments.
