Doubt.. I'm a layman thinking.. So sorry for my poor questioning.. But Why can't you use dynamo to recharge the battery.. Like you said during braking there's a lot of energy loss.. But while running also there's a lot of heat loss from the tyres.
Simple basic explanation. This setup seems identical to the Prius drivetrain, if so we can expect legendary reliability again. It helps huge fuel efficiency improvements but not completely eliminate it unlike pure EVs. This is the perfect bridge technology for India's severely spotty ev charging infrastructure. If Toyota offers a phev version, it would be even better for people to charge at home.
I think there are many good and better animation videos on how Hybrids vehicle or Toyota cars work. Instead of killing time please announce atleast price so people can make their mind before cancelling the booking.

There is another type of hybrid which perhaps makes more sense and is less complex, also fuel efficient ! A small petrol engine, always runs at peak efficiency to charge a battery (when needed) , and the car runs as a normal electric car - running on electric motor all the time ! That is less complex, makes more sense for India - petrol engine charges the battery, no external charging needed - can give equivalent of 30 kmpl of fuel efficiency !
