For anyone that has the factory JBL system on their Sequoia, Metra harness 70-8113, 70-8114, and Axxess Converter AX-MLOC745 will work with an aftermarket radio. Harness 70-8114 will retain the SWC on your vehicle. Used those accessories when I installed a 10.1 inch android radio on my 04 Sequoia. No need to splice the wires or bypass the factory amp with these harnesses.
Awesome. Im super new to doing this and found out i have the same setup wires. I think i will try that converter. Any videos i can reference bc looks confusing. Ty
That was super detailed man, great job! I have a 06 Sequoia I got last summer. I been loving it. I’ve refoamed my jbls and they sound great but down the line I will probably do this because I like Apple car play. If you don’t mind sharing how much was this set up? It would also be nice to add in a back up camera but I’m unsure when Toyota added those to the sequoia, maybe gen 2? Just subscribed, looking forward to the rest of your build. Cheers
Thank you so much for the support!! it really changes how the interior feel you should defiantly do it!! the headunit was about $350 and interface is $105 and the dash kit was $12. if you have $500 to play with should get you a nice set up and the apply car play is so worth it. and I have everything I used linked down in the discription if you want to take a look at it crutch field is really helpful.
Thank you for posting this. I’ve been freaking out trying to figure out what I needed to swap out my factory head unit. Question-Was that PAC thing plug and play? Did you have to do anything to get it working?
Thank you so much I hope it helps you out. I have everything listed in the description and below. but also call them just to double check. this is everything I used. steering wheel interface- www.crutchfield.com/p_541RP4TY11/PAC-RP4-2-TY11-Wiring-Interface.html Dash kit- www.crutchfield.com/p_120958202/Metra-95-8202-Dash-Kit.html headunit- www.crutchfield.com/p_113DMX7706/Kenwood-DMX7706S.html
Also I have the same exact interface kit and it shows the dip switch pattern is 1,2, and 3 on for Pioneer and 1 and 2 on for kenwwod. On my PAC on is the down position. I have a pioneer so I have the first three switches down and the fourth up.
I can't remember if it was opposite by the up down function lol sorry I couldn't be more of help. but It was tricky or at least I confused my self the instructions are good if you follow them correctly but they also can be confusing a little bit
You can use Metra harness 70-8113, 70-8114, and Axxess Converter AX-MLOC745 if you have the JBL system on your Sequoia. Metra 70-8113 will retain your SWC if your vehicle is equipped with one. Those are the accessories that I used on the 10.1 inch android radio that I installed a few days ago on my 04 Sequoia.
Thank you so much im glad it helped . I called www.crutchfield.com and that was the only one left that I wanted as far as features and the way it looked
Thanks for the walkthrough Mo, did you ever remember why the white wire needs to be connected to the OBD2 port? Also do you just unplug it when you need to run codes?
From what I gathered, there should be an interface on the head unit you use to pull up codes if you plug it into the obd2, it's not needed just another option
Great video Mo! One question though When you were wiring up the PAC you added Don’t forget the power wire on the screen. Is there a power wire that goes into the PAC or just those two plugs you showed? Aside from the proper wire connections is there another power wire? I have a 2007 SR5 with JBL with no steering wheel controls. Thanks Mo!
@@MoWahidi hey Mo, there’s one connector left on the PAC harness that has a red, black , and yellow wire and a fuse on it. Is that the power wire that has to be plugged in at the other end of the PAC unit?
Hi, did you connect the brown wire from the pac unit to the brown wire from the stereo? The pac unit wiring diagram says the brown wire is "SWC Output/Key 2" and the stereo brown wire has a tag on it saying "Mute" but the stereo wiring diagram says "Not Used". Also, did you plug in the 3.5mm jack from the pac unit labeled "SWC Output" to your stereo? Thanks!
Does the HPF and LPF on the Kenwood unit work with the JBL amps or do those features on work they the head units RCA outputs? Also on your setup how can you add a subwoofer amp?
On that unit he has, the rcas plug directly into the back of the headunit and you just tie the amp turn on into the amp turn on wire. As long as you have a headunit with “SW” labeled on the back of the headunit then you’re golden
Thanks so much for the video, I will be looking to update my 03 Sequoia radio to this unit or something alike. Question: I couldn't help not notice the digital fuel and temp gauges on the dash, do you have any info on those or did they come with the vehicle? Thanks again.
im glad I could help! and for the gauges those came in the 2005-2007 they have a different set of gauges. and I think on the 07 limited they came with surface mounted LED diodes SMD. so mine is lit up during the day and night.
@@MoWahidi thanks, one last question: is the radio still working as the first day (good)........... I've seen a few reviews on it and they don't always speak well of its performance. Thanks again
@@undercrownhiphop9422 I can't remember what they are for but I just went ahead and connected them if you have the PAC system it should have everything in or call clutchfeild they can give you more technical answers
Mo! Kind of an irrelevant question in regards of this video but idk any other way to reach you on YT other than the comment section. I was wondering if you have a backup camera? We have an '07 Sequoia LTD and a factory navigation head unit. Looking to get an aftermarket head unit and backup camera as well. Wanted to see if you had any recommendations or plan on doing one yourself. Thanks for your videos and input!
@elleboogy Thanks for reaching out! I do not have a back up camera currently and don't know if I am going to add one. but the best place to answer all your question would be www.crutchfield.com they are really helpful with figuring out what exactly you what need and very helpful staff. they can give your product recombinations based on your needs and walk you through the wiring process of it all.
@@MoWahidi fuck yeah. I totally agree. Hard, I have a 350Z which the Build NEVER ends, then my '07 Limited Sequoia which I'm starting and my '98 Toyota RAV4 which is my daily and something breaks every now and then since is 23 years old
I know the feeling man I have a 240sx s14 and I spent a lot of years building it and still needs more stuff I will have stuff on the channel for it soon
it is a Kenwood DMX7706s steering wheel interface- www.crutchfield.com/p_541RP4TY11/PAC-RP4-2-TY11-Wiring-Interface.html Dash kit- www.crutchfield.com/p_120958202/Metra-95-8202-Dash-Kit.html headunit- www.crutchfield.com/p_113DMX7706/Kenwood-DMX7706S.html
I'm using factory amp and factory JBL speakers, so I did not touch them at all and all the wiring I have done is on the head unit and all plug in the factory harness, so I'm confused on what you are asking. if you are trying to change the factory amp this is not the video for you
