I bought the 2020 3.0 spec’d Supra and put 115,000 miles on it in 3 years. It still runs as smooth as the day I bought it. A lot of people turned their noses up at this car when it came out, but I’ve done nothing but broke necks in traffic driving it. Toyota did a really good job with the curb appeal on this platform and it’s an absolute blast to drive.
I have owned my 2020 Supra since Oct 1 ,2019 Modified it I'm the Summer of 2020. Just basic 93 tuned, catless DP, K& N intake, & lower springs! Cars been bulletproof proof. I have never had a check engine light on. I just paid it off & don't see me selling it. I'm 48 owned a ton of Sports cars. This one has been the funniest & fastest & Most reliable! I wish i had a 6 speed , but still zero chances I'm getting rid of my 2020 ! 👍
@Pirata-ch8sp Well at least the ECU is wide open. I own a modified 2020 zero problems! If u can get the car & it's in good shape all the way around. For 37k to 35k due to Milage jump on it as long as it was maintained right!
I bought a 2022 premium new. I was 74 at the time. Have 14000 miles on it. A great car. I've own muscle cars thru out my life. This has been the best one. I don't baby it. 20 in the head 76 on the body. Lol
I never understood people who hate this car being a “BMW”. Because 1) it’s not Toyota’s first time working with other brands, and all other car manufacturers does this: like Audi and Porsche 2)in-line six engine is BMW’s specialty. And BMW overall is a more premium brand than Toyota. Therefore, you are only getting better with the aids of BMW’s involvement. I’m not sure Toyota can develop a better engine themselves than B58. Maybe some so-called “JDM fans” are being ignorance about how good BMW engines are. 3) Most importantly, today’s market is driven by SUV and electric car buyers, it’s a miracle that Toyota even brought back the Supra. You have to survive in the market first to be able to talk about how “pure JDM” you are. Look at EVO, they don’t even exist anymore. Is that what the fans want? Now I can see Supra in basically every car meet, that shows how well it sells, and what a good car it is.
So true! People just need to find some reason to justify why they didn't buy a Supra lol. It's the only thing they can make fun of since it performs like nothing else for the money! I love that it has the BMW refinements and precision. Perfect blend!
A lot of the BMW hate is from jealousy and most of those haters never owned one. BMW makes great cars. I’ve a 2023 X3 and it’s the best most comfortable car I’ve ever driven. It is exciting to drive and it does everything perfect.
Also adding that the b58 is very similar to the beloved 2jz. Watching papidakis dismantle the b58 and 2jz back to back made me think it's a modern adaptation to the 2jz. Heck if you told me bmw dismantled a 2jz and built the b58 I could believe it.
I’ve seen way more Corvettes than Supra’s. Here in my town in Oregon I’ve only seen a couple along with mine. They seem to also hold value extremely well so a lot of people that were waiting for them to depreciate insanely quickly are sol.
Just picked mine up yesterday with 12 on the OD 3.0 premium renaissance red every option ticked 6mt. Love it. Don’t even have to push the car to have fun
Congrats! I'm just waiting for my dealer to get one in.. seems like they still can't be ordered, for some reason. Were you able to order yours? Last thing I want, is to wait around for months only to have a model come in that isn't exactly how I want it..
@@hhaste Toyotas allocation process doesn’t let you order one It’s strictly what they build and send to dealers so it’s kind of luck if the draw. That’s in Texas at least as of September 2023. I found out 30 minutes before 7 other people by accident and bought the car within that same phone call. But that being said. I wouldn’t have apexes carbon fiber for yellowing issues but it has it and it can be covered up. I got 95% what I want. Only missing tan interior for me
@@93ksj about 3k over msrp but it’s only the second manual to be sold in either DFW or Houston. They’ve only had a few cars this year. Production has been cut way back
I'm glad you mentioned your Father-in-Law has one too. At 50 I was wondering if I was going to look like "mid-life crisis guy" driving one. I'm in NY and would be doing the same thing... put it away and drive my 4Runner for the winter. It's strictly a toy to row through the gears on some twisty back roads or take a day trip somewhere.
I actually just a filmed a 20k miles review on his car! Will go up in a week or so. Sounds like you'll be just like him! He has a Highlander as the normal car. But he loves the Supra!
I refused every over sticker markup car. I’ve been trying to purchase the new Supra Manual for over a year. Not willing to pay over MSRP. Any advice/hook ups to help?
I used to hate the way these looked until I saw a lowered black on black one up close (even though that’s the worst color combo imo). Now I am obsessed with them & want to buy one soon. I think it may be the best bang for buck (as far as new sports cars go).
I love these. I would have to have 3.0 with stick. But the stick is rare at the moment and I don’t feel like paying outta my nose to get one. Definitely love yours with the blue color. Not a flashy color guy.
I agree, it would be sweet if they slapped the 3.0 in the GR86. They can't put BMWs engine in the Subaru collaboration, though. That would be cool but that would also compete with the supra at that point.
That'd be wild to see the 3.0 B58 in the 86! However I mentioned the 3 cylinder from the GR Corolla would be cool to see in the 86. Probably still wouldn't happen tho
very good review considering I live in NJ where the colder weather months can be gruesome, I really wouldnt mind getting one. Reliable, good looking, capable of aftermarket, and not to bad for pricing considering the market for sports cars.
Yes they did. I've talked with Toyota about this car. They took the B58 engine and went through it and had BMW make changes to make it what it is. Toyota owns a 10% stake in BMW these days. And thats why BMW is now in the top 10 in reliability. Toyota did just as much R&D on the Supra as BMW did. They just didn't build dit in their factory.
Beautiful Supra. What wheels are you running on that beast? What are your little carbon pieces on the rear number? What’s are all the carbon pieces, side skirts and rear spoiler? Really makes it stand out from the pack in a classy way. Thank you. Keep enjoying that thing!
Thanks! brosfourrspeed.com/parts-%26-merchandise/ols/categories/toyota-supra-parts All the parts on my car our on our website! The Wheels were from ESR. Fun setup for sure!
Why do I see Supras with the GR emblem and others that don't have this? Is this a version you missed talking about? Or is this GR emblem something generic that do not make a difference?
They all come with the GR logo. I removed mine when I did the wrap and only put the Supra logo back on. As of now I've unwrapped the car and have both logos back on
C8 isnt a supercar tho. Its a great sportscar. But it's no Lamborghini or Ferrari. And the Supra with a basic tune makes more power then the C8. Supra is a great sportscar for under $60k. Also the Supra was never a supercar killer. They were low 300 HP cars. You can modify them and make 1000 HP but thats after you've spent $30k in modifications.
I've been in line for my Supra for a little while now and my dealership finally got one allocated to them and I'm next! Only thing is that it's my second choice which is white, but my main choice is black. Since you are someone who experienced both colors, would you say black is the better choice even if maintaining it may be a little harder? Awesome video btw and I look forward to ordering some parts from your store!
Really depends on your taste. I wrapped this one very quickly and it's been blue most of my ownership. If you plan to wrap the car go black. If I wasn't going to wrap, I'd go for white. Fun car for sure! We have some goodies for these!
I know you used to be all in on the 2023 Z, wouldn't you say the Z could achieve similar performance upgrades with mods at a better value than the supra? Also seems like the Z is cheaper to tune. Just curious on your take.
Here’s a good video I made on a lot of my thought. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-afL5UaOx1Qs.htmlsi=rarXd3J4RdrKMOwu Z is easier to tune and can be just as powerful. But just doesn’t have the nimble handling like the Supra. And doesn’t have the same refined interior. So to me it was well worth spending more for the Supra. Z just doesn’t feel on par with this for cornering and refinements. Supra is still faster and smoother when tuned. The Z is basically a budget Supra. Has some good aspects. But just wasn’t worth the price honestly. At $45k I’d buy the Z. But not $55k
I'm just concerned with it being an open deck block at 400hp. Pushing it much past that seems like a good way to damage some cylinders or blow a head gasket.
@@Mrpancake72 There's more to an engine being open deck and failure prone. N54s can hit well into the 500HP range with an aluminum open deck block with a downpipe and a tune, and they came stock 300-330ish hp in '06.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed highly unlikely... loan would cost up to 725 eur, insurance another 500-600 and then all the other stuff aswell my hourly salary is already better then most others on my field and on average i do about 200hrs a month... maybe in the future, when i have done a ton on investing etc. i could afford it, but by that time there might even be a mk6 or something.... and that will cost so much more, that i wont be able to afford...
@@prospect2664 not sure where you get those numbers from. I don’t pay anywhere near that! Look into it because it cost way way less than what you think.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed hmmm... wierd.... youtube deleted the comment.... anyways, the cheapest supra, that isnt white or even further away is 57k €, with transport and registration fees it would be about 65k €, and that car would have like 13k km on it and 1800km away from home. Or there is one that is about same distance, but has under 200km, but then total cost would be like 68k... cant afford it anyways, as both insurance and loan would be 1.2-1.4k a month + everything else then.... And im already earning more then average on my field, would need to earn like 35% more then the max amount people get for what i do.... and thats when i continue doing my average 200hrs per month insanity
@@prospect2664 are you just guessing on the insurance and monthly payment?? Even my brother Audi r8 costs $80 a month to insure with full coverage!! $1200 a month for insurance doesn’t seem right at all man! But buy what works for you and what you are comfortable with affording.
Alright so I have a rather big question for you. Which car did you enjoy more to drive and have fun in? The gtr or the supra? And if the supra manual or auto? Maybe compare manual supra to gtr as well

I was like “WHY DIDNT HE MENTION ABOUT HOW YOU HAVE TO SHIP IT TO RUSSIA TO GET THE ECU UNLOCKED” glad you did I was getting worried lol. I have been looking at supras and my friend was giving me a lecture about how I should get a 2020 solely because of that fact. He has been able to tune his and do a lot of cool stuff and now has a hp of 750. Also this video was helpful thank you :D
They ship to Europe for the unlock. But you can still tune the locked ones. If I did it in this car, it would cost like $3k tho for a tune. Didn't really crave the power out of this tho since its manual. Great cars tho!
MST downpipe won't throw a CEL. We have them on our website! Awesome part! Heres my install video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-klJH3HK3lSQ.html Heres the part brosfourrspeed.com/parts-%26-merchandise/ols/products/mst-performance-6in-catted-downpipe-supra
Its a nicely weighted shifter would a good throw. I'm not sure if anyone made a short shifter kit of this yet. But I don't think it needs one. There is a clutch out their I think for these
Supra all day! Much more premium car and feels more performance focused. If you need the space tho, Gold R isnt a bad option. But I'd go RS3 for similar money as a Supra
Pretty much. The turbo is slightly different and then the new version has a lower compression ratio. Tuned on stock turbos or bigger turbos, both engines make about the same power. Just a bit smoother power delivery with the 6 port and a bit quicker torque on the 2 port.
Excellent video! May I please have wheel and tire recommendations? I own a 2023 Supra GR 3.0. New tires and wheels would be the best upgrade I think. May recommendations would be great!
Do you think the MK 5 is under Tune from the factory that is why it makes a funny noise when it switch gears at high speed? Kinda like a farting a noise?
I don't know if anyone has actually spec'd one with it. Would be an absolute waste of money. I don't think most Supra owners can justify $12k wheels. That's 21% of the value of the car for wheels.
Swapped it for the Rexpeed front end. I loved the previous lip but figured I'd try something else for a bit. Other lip wasn't really any lower then stock. I still have it just saving it for later if I put it back on a change up the car again
Eirie Insurance. I've never had expensive insurance, even when I was with Gieco. High deductible, pay in full and clean 10+ year record goes a long way! Also NC is pretty cheap. In Michigan I'd be paying more then double.
That 2.0 twin scroll turbo belongs in the GR86. I don’t know what the hell toyota was thinking. And they’re “worried about a forced induction GR eating into Supra sales” lmao
If they did that, it wouldn’t be a $30-36K car anymore. You mine as well buy a 4 cylinder Supra at that point, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to do that to the 86 as cool as it would be.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed i still have my 2021 Supra and want to unlock the ecu and buy crazy amount of parts. However when I call all these companies it’s like they don’t want to sell lol
Just wait you will see oil leaking from the pan and the coolant disappearing..and other issues lol worked for Toyota seen it all ..not reliable at all just wait til we see more with more miles ..just my opinion not that it matters
Well in the 4 years I've been in the Supra groups, I havent heard any owners talk about leaks with these. Maybe you had one or two come in? But overall these things are very reliable.
