What makes Japanese engines so reliable? Many years ago I worked at a Toyota factory in the USA. One day we had some visitors from GM taking the factory tour and the visitor’s center was hospitable and had them meet some of the engineers and technical people (I was in IT and honestly had the best personality to deal with visitors so was invited along). The GM people asked us to see our rework yard. I had no idea where or what that was so I asked my colleagues what it is and where it is. They were as confused as me. When asked, the GM folks told us it’s the lot where they keep cars that come off the assembly line with defects so that they can be patched up and sold. So we took them to the small warehouse area where we keep the dozen or so cars that come off the line with a minor issue that we can fix and make it as good as every other car. More often than not it was an issue with the stitching on the seat or a steering wheel or something like that, and we would just replace the part that was imperfect. GM guy: “Where’s the rest of it?” Me: “This is it. What do you do?” GM guy explained they had a large lot for cars that come off the line with faulty body work or engines or transmissions, and they’re patched up so they can be sold. Then he said “what do you do with your defective cars?” We explained that it rarely happens, and when it does we study it, figure out what went wrong, fix the issue so it won’t happen again, and then either keep the car for further study and training purposes or crush it. Nothing that comes off the line with a serious defect leaves the factory.
That's a huge reason why during the chip shortage, and even now, you see the lots filled with the American brands and Toyota dealers can't keep any on their lots. The other brands just cut features like adaptive cruise control, heated seats, and cylinder deactivation to reduce the amount of chips they needed per car so they could keep churning out vehicles where as Toyota kept waiting for the right amount of chips to send out complete, fully functional vehicles. That's a true company culture of excellence. The fact that it is ingrained that "nothing that comes off the line with a serious defect leaves the factory" is amazing. (I know that Toyota isn't immune to recalls for some faulty parts here & there, and the frame rust fiasco, but like stated, they don't have a huge lot for faulty cars).
@@the_evergrey_toa1392 That tid bit of info was sent to me by a friend. I am a fan of Toyota and this is just another reason I think the brand builds excellence
I’m in my late 50s but when a friend of mine and I were getting ready for graduation with our Masters program, he was interviewed by Chrysler Corporation. His major was Mechanical Engineering, whereas I was going in for my PhD in psychology. Anyhow, during his interview Chrysler asked him if he could design certain components of their vehicles to last only about 40K miles. My friend said that he could, but wanted to know why only 40K miles. Chrysler told him that they needed their parts / products to last just long enough to get their customers through the warranty miles, but wanted critical components to crap out right after the warranty expired, so that their customers would have a come back and order the replacement parts. My friend was shocked and asked them if they were kidding. Chrysler was very serious. My friend stood up and told them that he was an honest person and that as a consumer he expected vehicles to last as long as possible, so that customers would eventually return and replace their previous Chrysler product with another one. Chrysler told him that they don’t do business that way. My friend left the interview. First he got a job with Honda USA and eventually was hired by Toyota, where he still works today. And now you know why Chrysler is now owned by FIAT, which is owned by Stillantis, which can only build the WORST quality vehicles on earth.
Good review brother! I just traded in my 2020 Sport Taco for the 2023 TRD PRO.. Say a prayer for my sister, she is battling stage 4 cancer and it has been rough. She tells me she's afraid, I tell her to Trust in the Lord with all her heart..
Bought my first Tacoma a few months ago. I purchased a 2020 TRD Off-road with 38 thousand miles. I absolutely love this truck. Crawl mode is awesome, and it has more bells and whistles than I’ll ever need. This truck will stay in my garage until it decides to die. God bless you and thank you for your testimony. All Glory to God. Without Him we are nothing.
Good morning brother Isaac, I loved the review on your Taco, I also have a 2019, 4 cylinder and am quite content with what God has blessed me with. I absolutely loved your beautiful testimony and teared up as I was listening to it. May Jesus continue blessing you in everything. 🙏🏼😊
Bro, you brought a smile to my face! I am glad I watched your video to the end, I have never seen someone read the Bible at the end of their videos. You are awesome and it was awe-inspiring! I am looking into getting a Tacoma! I think it may be my future truck now!
Thank you, that’s one thing that makes me unique! Jesus is the biggest part of my life, so I want to share it with everyone I can! And a Taco is a great choice!
Good scripture, brother! Good message! His Word is a mirror to my soul, and man oh man, how much I need Him! I’ve not ever been enough. I’ve not ever had enough to pay my own debt alone. But God commended His love towards someone like me, in that while I’m still a sinner, Christ died for me! Thank you, brother! Love the reviews, and I love the style that God has grafted in you.
2015 TRD, 340,000 miles, started running rough at 300,000 took it to a nearby Toyota dealership. The next day the service manager called me,"do you know these are the original spark plugs in this truck! They're supposed to be changed every 30k miles!" My bad, I thought it said 300. Gas-oil-tires, brake pads, that's it. Wouldn't be afraid to drive it across country today. Had a 2006, same truck same result, traded it at 280,000 miles and regretted it before I was off the lot. I'll never drive anything else. Told my wife I'd have it til it hit 500,000 or Jesus comes back. Better get right with Him now, I'm driving the wheels off of it.
Man, first time watching any video of yours. As I watched, I thought to myself, this cat must be a believer. I was not disappointed. Loved the ending!!!! I’m looking at a 2024 Tacoma. Never owned a Tacoma before. Wanted a Toyota pickup back in 1990. I still have an 11 yr old suburban which runs great. I’ll keep arguing in my head!
Beautiful message at the end, stumbled upon this video looking for trucks ended up with such a beautiful message at the end. Thank you brother. Glory to god!
Awesome vid, bro. I’m also a Christian and really appreciated the ending. It’s a great reminder! The Tacoma is my dream truck, God willing one day soon! I liked and subbed!
I deal with chronic pain a good pt helps so much. Our pain isn’t without purpose though it makes us more empathetic towards the suffering of others. God bless!!
@@371kenny Wow there is so much unsaid pressure when someone says "I'm buying a $37,000 truck BECAUSE OF YOU" except when it comes to Toyota's, because I stand by them and their reliability.
"There's always another thing." That is correct and very wise thinking. We are always looking for the bigger and better when we are already blessed. I always have to remind myself this.
I like the way you view things. “ There’s always gonna be another thing. I like to try to stay content with the things I have and not long for the things that i don’t have. They’ll make you happy for a time, but they won’t fulfill you. “ excellently put. I really enjoyed the video. I just bought a Tacoma truck and I absolutely love it. Good to know about the serpentine belt though.
"And the award for Tear Jerker Automotive Review Of the Year goes to........" Seriously, this is the last video on the planet I expected to get teary-eyed watching. Well done, good sir. p.s. just so there's no confusion - I'm not referring to the subtle Chevy diss on the topic of engine / transmission issues :P
Just came across your video bc I am about to buy a used Tacoma this week. Thank you for not being ashamed of the gospel! You just gained a new subscriber. Amen and God bless.
i drive to work 70miles one way. currently drive a lowered honda civic del sol, but during winter time it gets pretty sketchy. highly considering a tacoma!!
I bought a new 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport 2WD and it has run flawlessly. I don't put a lot of miles on my vehicles, and this one only has 110K on it, but I've never had an issue with this truck. I do maintenance and I've replaced the drive belt (preventive maintenance) and it's still running like new. I love this truck, but I'm really disappointed that Toyota is taking its most successful vehicle and ruining it by doing away with the V6 and putting over-worked, super-charged 4 cylinders in them. I don't care how much social media content they put out with paid engineers saying the 4 is just fine. I don't buy it, and I won't buy their new Tacoma.
Nice review. I have a 2017 TRD Sport 6 speed Manual, love it. I call it "Putt Putt" because there really isn't that much get up and go with it. I used to own full size trucks before buying my Tacoma, so I guess I shouldn't compare Putt Putt to them.
Haha if you’re paying! I actually have a bachelors in youth and young adult ministry, and I work with a Christian gap year discipleship program as my primary job! 😊
Hey Isaac, great video. I love these Tacomas and have thought, if my old 4Runner ever gives up the ghost, a Tacoma might be next. I really appreciated hearing the little pros and cons that you only know from OWNING a vehicle for 4 years. Love your down to earth and funny delivery. Also, what a powerful message at the end of the video. Thank you for sharing. It’d do us all well to remember what Jesus said in Matthew, myself chief among them.
Thank you for this information bro! I am currently considering a tacoma my, and think I should pray to my God to find the right one, I would appreciate if you would intercede on my Behalf also. Thank you my bro! God bless!
@@AlphaShark dealer was asking 19k but was gonna talk them down since I saw on Kelly it was 17k 18k ish little scared getting into but it’s a Tacoma I know there reliable I have a first gen now and I love it but the rust sadly is just on full blown spread mode and consuming the leaf spring mounts and frame area making it not safe to drive at all.
If your sciatica returns, find a chiropractor that uses the Advanced Biostructural Correction technique, or ABC for short. I have DDD and they have helped me more than I could ever explain. The combo of a cortisone shot in a severely herniated disc, and ABC adjustments. I also started hanging / doing pull ups from a pull up bar, which provides traction on the discs and stretches the spine.
Great video. I've loved my Tacomas. Wish I could afford to have one WITH my 2013 FJ. Just too little time and too little budget. Haha. Any chance you are related to Neil that does the videos for Messicks??? Same mannerisms and you actually sound alike too. Not a dig, I'm a big fan of Messicks and Kubota tractors..... just an observation :)
Our 2020 tacoma is called" Yoda". Our is a boy truck that is owned by a mom(me) and a daughter( Wendy). 2 girls. Lol. Yeap. We haul stuff. Feed bags of corn for chickens and ducks.. BIG round bales of hay for a mustang and a burro. Fishing ploes for us. So yeah Yoda gets a real good work out. I bought Yoda so he can be a farm truck. Yeap. He's doing great so far.
"It's an old truck" to me a 4 year old car is almost brand new lol. O have to say that the last part was the best one. Thank you for sharing that story and thank you for reading that part of the bible for us and sharing that knowledge. It reminds us how we all need Jesus.
Great video Isaac. Your truck looks good for being 4. Have you thought about having your rims powder coated? Stay Strong and be Encouraged. Be blessed. Genesis 15:1
Son, when I bought my 23 Tacoma I had the choice between the 23 TRD Off Road, Double Cab, 6’ bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs or an Identical 24 year model. The ONLY reason why I chose the 23 was because the 3.5L Naturally Aspirated (NA) V6 is a proven, reliable and durable engine. Historically there’s simply no gasoline powered Turbo engine that will last as long as a NA engine. When you’re dropping $59K on any vehicle, it damn well last 250K - 350K miles before anything major needs repair. I’ve never seen or heard of a gasoline powered Turbo lasting anywhere near that kind of mileage. My last Toyota with the 3.5L had over 300K miles on it and it still wasn’t burning any oil. I sold it and our 13 year old Ranger XLT super cab 4WD pickup to consolidate down to 2 vehicles between my wife and I, instead of 3. I use our (my) TRD for work around our property, going fishing, mild off roading on Forest and logging roads and as my transportation. I’m retired and drive 6-7K miles per year, so in 20 years I’ll still be driving my 23 Tacoma. You mentioned that your Tacoma hunts for gears in the transmission. Have an Overland Torque Tune (OTT) installed into your Tacoma’s computer. The OTT will cause your Tacoma to have full torque beginning at 2K RPM, instead of 3,600 RPMs and the Tune will STOP your transmission from hunting for the right gear. Add a K&N cold air intake and a free flowing exhaust. I personally have been putting Flowmaster exhaust systems on my trucks for many years. In fact I just had the Flowmaster FlowFX turn down exhaust system installed on my 23. It has a Deep, Throaty sound but doesn’t have that drone inside the cab at highway speeds. The intake, exhaust and Tune has Increased my horsepower, torque and mpg. Toyota says to change your oil and filter every 10K miles, but change it Every 5K miles with Mobile 1 full synthetic high mileage oil. High Mileage oil has additives in it that reduces engine wear. I prefer Valvoline, but my dealership use’s Mobile 1 full synthetic oil (0W-20 as recommended by Toyota). My dealership changes my oil and filter every 10K miles (as recommended by Toyota) for free and they rotate my tires. So since I change my oil and filter every 5K miles, I have to pay for every other oil change. Whenever I’m paying for the oil change, I supply the oil, filter and crush washer and their labor costs me $40. Change the front and rear differential, transfer case Every 60K miles, (unless you’re driving through a lot of water and mud holes. then change it every 20K - 30K miles. When you maintain a vehicle like this, it will last you well past the 300K mile mark. I put 488K miles on my first Toyota and drove it for 24 years. Back then we didn’t have synthetic oil, so I changed the oil and filter Every 2,500 - 3K miles with Valvoline. I wouldn’t pay $50+K for any gas powered Turbo, Ever.
I bought an SR5 in 2019. She was perfect. I had none of the squeaks or flimsiness in the door handle that you experience until recently. She was tight and very quiet in almost every way. Even with my door handle, it felt tight; my door only had a SLIGHT rattle near where my left elbow would rest and only when I was blaring music. She was beautiful and perfectly maintained but she was totaled last week while I was at work. She was parked outside of my place of business and was murdered, outright. She did everything I ever asked of her and was absolutely bulletproof. RIP my baby, Charlotte.
Wow, Michael I'm so sorry to hear that. From time to time that thought has come to my mind "what if someone just t-boned me, or hit the truck in a lot" and I always get very sad thinking about that, I can only imagine the feeling. Thumper isn't just my truck he's like my KITT from Knight Rider except he talks less lol. I hope you're able to find another SR5 just as cool if not better than yours!
@@AlphaShark Thank you much for the condolences. I think about the same kind of stuff, brother. Especially since being T-boned in July while driving my dad's F-250. I always clear intersections before I go through em but my guard was down on 25 mph roads and the other driver blew the heck out of a red light. Hit the rear-left wheel well and spun us a little, but no frame damage so she'll be repaired here before too much longer. I'd been having dreams of my truck getting wrecked like his in the weeks leading up to this incident; it still feels surreal. I've been a trouble magnet as of late but I've still got my chin up. Thanks again for the kind words and I hope you keep making the solid content. Best of wishes to you and your baby. I hope y'all make it to a quarter million or more. Godspeed
Best part was the end when you talked about your faith. Bought my Tacoma new in late 2021 and so far no issues and love it. God bless you and your channel.
Loved this video! The scripture and your testimony made me get emotional. Shared it with my girlfriend and she did too! Also I really resonated with your thoughts on the 2024 Tacoma and how to approach thing’s we don’t have. Just being content with what we do have. That’s something God’s worked with me on the past few months. Just being grateful for what I have. Sometimes yeah I lose sight of it and get lost in the newest tech or whatever it maybe be but then I remember his teachings and I appreciate what I do have. Thanks for making this video and putting yourself out there. It really motivates me to put myself out there as well
I have a 2002 with 330k. I’m going to buy a new one, but still going to keep my old truck! I can’t get much for it so I’m keeping it. It’s still running solid.
Stop the squeaking on that section of your dash. Go to the fabric store and buy piece of felt. Cut small piece and glue them around the holes for the clips. God's blessings.
Just inherited a 2017 SR5 from my father who passed. It’s got 107000 miles but seems to run great. It’s got an eibach lift kit on it and some nice wheels (method 703), with off road tires. I think I’m going to get the girlfriend and the dog in this thing and go see some cool sights in my pops honor.
I Love my 23 TRD Off Road 6’ bed with Leather, sunroof, LED lights, Double Cab. I had been saving up for years and finding out that the 24 was going to be a 4cyl turbo, it was time to buy a 23 with the 278hp 3.5L naturally aspirated V6.
Im 57 now. And it amazes me how um Still growing in GODS will, for me. I would like to warn people about the 07 tacoma, tgere is a plastic tube that runs from the side of the thermostat housing, it runs to the back of the engine between the engine and the intake manifold , then splits in 2, 1 for heater core and a pre warmer for the throtal body. It ran hot 3 times. And its life has been cut short. Please beware Brothers and Sisters GOD Bless All!!!😇😁
Thanks for sharing the spirit’s conviction in your heart, as you know it impacts others who watch. Keep spreading the message and providing good content!
Tonka trucks rule! I wish Toyota would hire Tonka designers to mock-up their trucks. There are too many lines and crap. It's a truck, not a perfume bottle.
Hey issac. That story really touched me. Thank you for sharing this. You’re 100% right. We on ourselves are nothing and can do nothing without Christ. But it’s Christ that makes us whole. I’m glad you’ve been healed of your pain. Glory be to Jesus. This is 2nd I love watching your videos. Extremely encouraging and staying dedicated to Jesus and leading others to him, while getting some awesome car/truck content with it. I do need some prayer. I’ve strayed and my heart is really aching at the moment. I feel like I’m not enough and that Jesus won’t heal that spiritual pain I have. I know they’re lies from the enemy, but I haven’t done anything to guard myself from them either. Some prayer would be appreciated. Thanks for your content issac. God is using you truly. Glory be to Jesus. God bless you brother.
Absolutely will be praying Mario, remember there is nothing that we can do that will ever be enough. But HE is enough, Jesus died for you. And once you've made that commitment to Christ nothing can separate you. Just stand firm and continue to walk the path! Read Romans 8:38-39!
Absolutely love the video, but my favorite part by far was the ending scripture. Lately I have been slacking on my relationship with God, and you have really reminded me how important it is. Thank you.
I have been watching Toyota videos trying to learn more to help with my decision whether or not to purchase one. This is the first one of your videos I have viewd. After watching this I gotta say,as a Saved Christian I am very proud of you and what you are doing and your message. Keep up the good works and may GOD BLESS YOU. 🙂
Looking into getting a Tacoma and came across your video on the hood and bad of the truck & the whole video I was glued and then at the end when you started to read scripture! I have never seen another RU-vid that does so. I had to immediately hit that sun button ! I look forward to seeing your vids 🙏🏽
Wow im really touched by your message, i to am a Christian, i to will never ever everrrr make without Jesus, i have no idea why n how He loves me , me after all the stupidest sins ive committed , you really really touched my heart with your beautiful little sermon Thank you im very grateful
