They have a long history of standing up incredibly well regardless of how they’re used but if you’re thinking of buying one, there are some things you should be aware of. In this video, we’ll discuss the overall reliability you can expect from a late model Tacoma as well as the most common problems with these trucks. I think many of these issues were worked out in newer model years. Rather own my Tacoma than a FORD or RAM that gets its first re-call on the 2nd day of ownership.

Toyota seems to have built in a lag with the engine and transmission that makes search for gears and limits acceleration. Many owners have installed the Sprint Booster that eliminates the lag and you don't have to "stab" the accelerator to get it to downshift. Set to S5 on the Sprint Booster and the truck has a perfect balance of acceleration and the gear searching problem is gone.

Are you part of their sales team. We actually studied the Toyota cult. A toyota owner can have an engine fail at 10,000 miles and will make excuses for the product. It is so bizarre. You all can pay $50,000 for a truck and make excuses when it breaks.

Look into OTT tune (overland torque tune) if Toyota checks your ECU it doesn't even come up that your truck is tuned + it changed the drivability of my truck 100% better! Improved ⛽ mileage 1-2mpg & gains 18+hp & 24+tq I have the manual transmission so I don't worry about it but I guess if you have the automatic all ⚙️ hunting goes away & turns into a much better truck to live with!

Oddly, “cheap” plastic materials used in Tacoma interiors tend to not be rattling around as soon as domestic models that feature stuff that comes lose or peals off fairly soon after signing the title. My 21 has a bit over 40k on the clock and the only thing that rattles is the first aid kit sliding around in the compartment behind the back seat. Mine, a 4x4 Sport seems to average around 20 mpg. I’ve drove stuff that did a lot worse.

I get voiding warranty coverage with suspension related early failures due to lifting the truck. But, does adding a aftermarket lift kit also void warranty coverage for drive train, engine and transmission problems too? Always wondered if non suspension failures would still be covered.
@WarPoet-In-Training
@WarPoet-In-Training 9 месяцев назад
I would imagine that it would void drivetrain warranty too because lifting a truck out of its OEM spec will often apply more wear on the driveshaft due to the increase angle. And, if you also get larger tires with the lift, that is more mass that must be moved to accelerate, which also causes more wear on the drive train.
