This is just a simple video on how to install rock lights and/or courtesy lights on a 2014 and above Toyota Tundra. This video also includes how to tie into the dome light circuit via the floorboard courtesy light on the drivers side kick panel.

Alright I got it done. Previously I had installed some footwell lighting and I had tied it into the same power source you did. I ran wires from the end of those footwell lights to the rock lights. I drilled holes same as you did and ran the wires through a loom behind the dashboard to get to passenger side. Except for using self tapping screws and drilling holes I did not have to go outside the cab of the truck. The one thing I did do was to put a small bead of silicone on the bottom of each light so water could not get inside the truck. Just another way to skin a cat.

Just got doing mine, turned out the same 👍 I am doing a little something extra though. Found a way to make them switchable as well. I'm about to do it tomorrow. Run an additional ground wire spliced into the splice you did for the floor light ground, and run it to the chassis somewhere (easy to find). The key is, you need to run this additional ground through a circuit breaker. Keep the circuit on, lights on demand. Break the circuit, lights will only come on with the courtesy/door ajar etc.

I am looking for a video about adding fog lights to a 2014 tundra that does not have any fog lights at all. I can find tons of them about changing to a dif type/make etc. Have you any videos showing the complete and total adding of fog lights?

I’m not sure about that. You could just find a video about installing LED pod lights and just put them on a switch?

@Fkakapain, did you ever find a solution? I have the same issue on my 3rd gen with the MicTuning C2 lights. I think its the bluetooth module but i cant find a harness to bypass it. I need one similar to the one Anderson shows in the video but for the MicTuning kit.

Weather turned to crap and we got buried in snow. Can’t get into my shop because all our equipment is in there. One question. Did you drill up through one of those holes after pulling out the plug or did you just guesstimate, drill a hole through the top and then fish it through the hole where the plug was? Thanks.

Kevin Fisher I actually use bailing wire and attach it to the wires from my harnesses and stick the bailing wire end through a nipple and then cut around it a bit with a blade and then pull on the bailing wire and it pulls right through.

Thanks for the video. Is it possible to turn these leds on while driving? I flipped the dome switch on but it only turned the dome/map lights on.

BrianMC 1975 I don’t think so using that circuit no.

I installed opt7 running board lights and tapped into the blue wire of the footwell light and ground to bare metal and the lights stay on but will not turn off. Do I need to tap into the tan/ brown wire for the lights to turn off?
@AndersonOverland
@AndersonOverland 2 года назад
I just connected a multi-tester to each wire to figure out which one changes voltage and fades the circuit out after a few seconds. I can’t remember which one it was honestly.

@@AndersonOverland I'm sure it's the blue one but I've seen in forums that some have taken the ground wire and attached it to the brown/ tan wire and it still doesn't make the light go off so I'm a bit stumped. I installed an inline fuse so I just took the fuse out for now until I find a solution.

@@lijianli Have you tried a multi-tester to check circuit timeout?
@lijianli

@@AndersonOverland yes, and it's a constant on.. doesn't go out... the footwell lights go out connected to the oem footwell lights but not the running board lights.

Nice job. Seems a little complicated. Could you have run it under the dash?

Kevin Fisher The circuit I wanted to tie into was not in that location. 🙂

@@AndersonOverland Thanks. I have been crawling around the inside of my Tundra figuring out how to do the lights. I managed to run wires through the one place in the firewall behind the emergency brake. Getting the nipple cut off the rubber grommet was quite the task. I have four wires going through there now for various add ons. I will post in here if I figure out another way. Thanks again.
