So glad that might had helped, I haven’t even touched my Toyota van since this video 😅 but if you have any questions, you can DM me on IG 🙏 @jocko_moto
Oh moey I hope your right 🤞 it was a relatively easy job to swap over I’ll be honest, since you don’t have to take off a timing chain, it’s really just 2 adjustable pullies and Boom, your in there. 🤙 good luck! Find me on IG I’d love to see your van. 🙏
Those manual fan clutches work by air flowing past them. When the vehicle is stopped, springs push forward and engage the clutch, so the fan spins and pulls air across the radiator. Once you’re moving a certain speed, the airflow pushes the fan backward and disengages the clutch, so the pulley can spin and not turn the fan.
Great work brother. Looking to figure out what sensor is by the radiator cap. One is in the passenger side but the opposite is on the drivers side and it’s a larger thread. Would you happen to have the part number?
I’ll look into it, I’m not certain which one your talking about, but I did replace my thermal switch. Not entirely sure if it did much 😂 Thanks for commenting on the video🤙 good luck on your van project
Good instructional. I did the pump on my 89 last week. That pump physically didn't look bad, could all that rust be making you run hot? Did you have the original fan shroud? Turns out that makes a big difference in air flow
Actually upon inspection I don’t think the pump was the initial problem. I do have the fan shroud i took it off when I first attempted to fix the van before knowing what I was doing. The story goes, In 2017 I found this van for $500 but it needed a clutch fan replaced. The seller said it could drive it home with that part. So I drove out to the dessert, swapped the part, and started my journey back home. But something else was wrong with the van, and it was running hot, so I tried to limp home, but on my third stop, the van sprung a leak and dumped out all of its coolant Or atleast majority of it. I had it towed the rest of the way back and there it sat for the next 3 years. lol so now I’m Finally getting around to wrenching on this thing. I had the water pump just laying around and figured why not just give it some new parts. I think the old water pump is probably fine honestly, I’ll be holding on to it.
How can you tell if the water pump is working correctly? When I take the radiator cap off, and crank the starter, the radiator fluid shoots out. A mechanic came out for 20mins and said it’s my head gasket. Sucks I got charged $120 just for him to tell me that.
Yeah 😄 I believe it’s the 4y-e. I’m glad you like the video! Honestly I have very little experience in working on cars, I just like to document the process so that I can share it with you guys. As well as look back on it myself LOL
