@@usapower6208I see SUVs as proper AWD, Land Cruiser type vehicle with a ladder frame chassis. Jacked up hatchbacks are not this and neither are most fashion SUVs.
@@oddities-whatnotThat is your definition of SUV. In fact Yaris cross is in an SUV segment known as Subcompact SUV or Crossover vehicle. Fact is fact, don't be emotional.
How do you find the difference in acceleration between modes? It seems like a huge diff between eco and hybrid? But not so much bewtween hybrid and sport right? Can you use only the hybrid mode and get fuel consumption under 5? It feels painful to drive this car in ev mode (when you accelerate especially). Also, what do you think about its ability to overtake at 90km/h speed?
I think in theory it can go quite high in speed (I thought the press release said 130 km/h) but in my experience you could only drive like 20 km/h to 40km/h and then the petrol engine kicks in
In practice when e.g. battery is depleted (which is quite fast since the capacity of traction battery is small, which you can see directly from voltage of the traction battery = 177 V = ~760 Wh).
what's the top speed and range when you go on EV only? and can you start the 3cyl engine to idle? or does it run only after it moves with the electric motor?
The press release says: "Zero emissions driving is possible at speeds at up to 130 km/h." I don't know how you would do that. In practice if you go over 40 km/h or so, the petrol engine kicks in. from what I remember, you need to to a bit of special tricks to get the engine to idle. In general the petrol engine is off when you start the car and it is in EV mode.
@@JohanDeHaes I’m curious because, let say you want to change the oil yourself, how do you warm up the engine before draining the oil? And then you have to warm it up again before you check the level.
2 modes of Ev: 1st is Eco ev - 24hp until 130kmh but on 1st row of eco only. There are 2 eco and 2 pwr rows in tachometer. In reality with 24hp on flat road up to 90 or 100kmh. At 130 is coasting downhill 2nd is Full ev or ev mode buton where you have 80hp until 50kmh to feel the tesla acceleration :) up to 1or2km
It's a hybrid, not a plugin hybrid. So, you only drive in EV mode when the car chooses. Usually at slower speeds in town. Basically, this car constantly switches between battery, engine, or both combined. Sometimes the engine sends power to the battery only, or the wheels, or both. It must process at a rapid rate because sometimes the engine will run for as little as a few seconds. Every adjustment of the accelerator causes it to change where energy goes. If you need to warm up the engine, you have to go for a short drive. The engine sometimes starts, occasionally, on switch on but I can't figure out why. I suspect it's when the battery is low and/or ambient temperature is low. It will run on the battery at highway speeds if you're cruising at a constant speed and going down a slope. Doesn't have to be a steep slope
@@zwieseler I test drove one for like 45 mins, with like 15 min of city driving and 30 mins of 80 km/h rural area twisty road and the car told me that it used EV mode 50% of the time. (think it dropped to 49% by the time i got back to dealership) but it used it alot even when driving 80 km/h. Well, alot being quite roughly half the time :D
Yeah, i tested the car recently. Way too expensive, not really useful for offroad, 3 cylinder engine is way too noisy, not a lot of space, bad overview when looking back, .... The positives: Good materials, comfortable, good features, driving is fun.
