I did a similar lead for my Noco jump pack but also have a solar trickle charger inline with voltage regulator control showing voltage etc with usb points too.
Interesting as always. Question when buying my 2024 GR Sport the dealer said Toyota don’t replace the batteries once they die. Can they be replaced or is the hybrid useless once the battery runs out?
If a 12 volt battery dies, you can use a jump pack or jump leads to get the car going, it will operate perfectly after being restarted, the 12 volt battery can be replaced as it’s just a simple 12 volt battery, which at the end of the day is something that’s going to fail and wear out naturally as they do in every single vehicle that has a battery, they have a lifespan dependent on use
Paul, ditch the Oxford optimiser, they are very poor quality, plus the connector is rubbish, I've had two replaced under warranty, the third lasted less than 12 months with occasional use. I don't use them on the car they are for my bikes. I always use a circuit breaker on them as the last oxford one when it failed was that blackened it must have been on the verge of combustion had I not been using the breaker. Spend a bit more and buy an optimate, much better quality and a proper rubber connection point from the battery to tender.
my oxford is over 5 years old and does not have the silly rubber plug , it's been replugged with a better quality connector , i,ve used the oxford for years and it's always kept my motorbike batteries in good condition over the winters i store them , it's what iv,e got and it's work great on the 12 volt batteries on the yaris hybrids for me , i do agree there are better quality chargers but until it dies i will continue using , i do have breakers on every socket and circuit in the workshop and the only time iv,e triped them was arc welding one evening
@paul_nwsxs you've fallen on a good one then for sure, because the new ones are plagued with failure issues, my harley davidson and triumph ones are both rebadged optimates and have been really good. I thought I'd try the Oxford for my guzzi, but after the failures have gone with the optimate and all good so far. Long may your Oxford keep working 👍
