The 2023 one was actually animated back in 2010 to coincide with 25 years of Toys R Us in the UK. The original cel-animated commercial was retraced and digitally colored, with a slightly different ending to the original.
@@skylerhearts7860 truly one of those “you had to be there” times. It’s kinda hard to explain but being a kid it really was magical going in. Something about it stood higher than other toy stores because they all felt “off” like an off brand or unreal. Toys r us was the exact opposite of that
I hope we get a person to create a time machine so i can hijack it and send everyone in there favourite era like this :) things were more simpler there
It feels weird seeing something remade like this. It’s like it was recovered from the past and revitalised or everyone watching went back in time or something.
I finally learnt what it says at the end. It doesn't actually say "There's millions of debris all under one roof", a mondegreen which I found odd as a kid. It probably didn't help that I had no idea the giraffe is called Geoffrey.
It's interesting how VHS version of the 1989 is the only things that survived? It does makes sense they choose to "remaster" it by going the modern line-less approach. Somehow kinda of works, but would have worked better if lines was restored back in.
0:25: How’s that giraffe even holding that box? They can’t use their teeth because there’s no wrapping or cellophane to grip and they can’t use their tongue because it won’t get half way and the box would slip.
