Toys R Us just got to play with Sora by OpenAi, thanks to the creative genius of Native Foreign! I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing Sora popping up in even more commercials very soon! #ToysRUs #Sora #Ai
does anyone else feel like. idk. any sort of imagery created by ai feels like it’s got some sort of awful oily sheen on it? like if you touched it, it would feel really gross and you couldn’t get it off? that’s how it is to me. it genuinely always looks and feels uncanny and dreadful. nothing is solid. everything shifts and changes before your very eyes, and not in a pleasant or “magical” way.
It’ll get better… But better for who? The person skipping ads won’t care how good it looks… the crew who didn’t get to work on the ad will care, the kid who missed a chance to act in the ad will care… if it gets to a point where it looks totally real, the only people benefiting are the share holders of advertising or production companies… woo progress.
Well the point is to make AI not look like "AI", so people just accept it and we become slaves to a 1984 technocracy (i know i sound crazy, but AI itself is crazy haha) Until then is just make AI look bad so it gets publicity, while possibly starting to introduce AI stuff that dont look AI and induce whatever type of message/behaviour you want into a population
@@captaincrazycreative yeah it's crazy. I was hoping it wasn't made by them because this is peak laziness for a company that's supposed to be fun and creative
They went bankrupt because Bain Capital figured out they could sell more shares than existed while putting people in position to ruin the company from the inside making the stock eventually delist and then all those phantom short shares never needed to be paid back because they didn't exist anymore. Don't get me wrong. They likely would not have survived the Amazoning. But, they didn't even get to try because our markets are heavily manipulated and not reliable.
The more I see of Sora, the less impressed I am by it. Yes, it is pretty crazy that a computer can now make a video out of a sentence- but the output doesn't look real to anyone with a half-trained eye. The overly plastic sheen to everything, the panning shots that look like stock footage, and the countless errors in geometry, physics, and continuity. And that's all _with_ human SFX work done on top. If I were in charge of a major company, I'd be genuinely embarassed to put out something like this. I have no idea what video generation AI will look like in the future- but as it exists today, it's a joke for anything more serious than morbid curiosity and shitposts.
Missing the point. The fact that this is a even a possibility now it's the point. It's only going to improve from here. We came from Will Smith eating spaghetti
Yay don't have to pay hollywood for material! It's just a matter of time we won't need them at all. All these actors and artists will be free to do something else! Can't wait!
This was made in Sora, which isn't released to the public yet. I have been messing with Runway Gen3 which just released to public 2 days ago, and I've made better quality video than this. Sora is not ready for commercial use let alone private and I'm surprised they did this, unless they're trying to use negative press just for exposure.
All the comments saying that it's scary or that is horrible, keep 2 things in mind... 1 - if no one told you this was AI, or if you have never heard of AI, you wouldn't know it's AI. 2 - now that you know it's AI keep also in mind this is still the beginning.... This is the same as 3D before jurassic park and Toy Story. Give it 6 more months.
Yeah lets boycott anyone using AI because artists are basically making the same amount of money as before because there isnt a lot of money for your average artist, and the big ones earn a lot of money because of parasocial relationships. Just ... Do your research, pleasd
I feel like it's in humanity's nature to hate and, given the opportunity to hate without guilt, they will do so. Humanise a, once, alienated group and people stop being bigots... Guilt stops us. But with AI people can hate freely and find no consequence.
Ok for those going on about tru bankrupt it wasnlargely due to its failure to innovate with ecommerce, it tried to keep the "we are a toy store. Kids want to see and play with toys first" mentality when parents were more like ill just buy x y z For xmas and bdays i take my children to smyths toys store as tru has closed down in the uk. And let them pick what they want Even as a 1yr old toddler id take my kids into the shop and observe what grabbed their attention, whilst unable to speak, if they were mesmarised by a toy tbat was their basic communication of "i like this one" In the early 2000s tru was on watchdog for failing to deliver online orders on time for xmas and came under major pressure which may have played a part in their delays to adapt to ecommerce properly either way it sent the business spiriling down in a sinilar way to kodak and the digital camera
I really don't understand why everyone hates this commercial so much? I guess through the word AI into anything and people freak out? I mean, all the hype, I was expecting demons and shit...
Funny you say that because bibically the concept of "demon" is not supposed to "be creepy", its supposed to be enticing and attractive. Maybe their true nature is creepy, sure, but to get to humans, they look attractive haha Would you sell your soul to Mr. Creepy 3 eyed looking monster, or to an attractive tall man that makes you feel good and promises you a better life ? So maybe this kid was a demon haha
People are freaking out for no reason, just because it's Toys R Us. This isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I would like to see the prompt behind it. I'm somewhat impressed by it, but it's not much different from previous Sora videos and have its issues when you look close enough. I'm sure if it wasn't mentioned half the people wouldn't even know it was AI. To add, no one watches commercials or traditional TV rather anymore, people use ad blockers and premium subscriptions, or are quick to skip. The ads now are crap anyway, this was probably better & actually informative than a good 45% of them.
You are correct, a successful ad nowadays is one with parasocial tendencies to it. Grab a trend (AI, LGBT, minorities, politics, etc), make something that would make a buzz without being too obvious = profit
Unpopular opinion: I like it. You can tell it's AI generated, but it's memorable and sentimental, in a cheesy Christmas advert kind of way. Great advertising because it gets people talking about the company. A human generated AD would barely even get a watch.
Yeah its not that bad. If someone hadnt told me it was AI, i wouldnt have even paid attention and would have said "oh, just an average commercial" So its clear a show case of human bias: AI bad and lazy, commecial done with AI, commercial bad and lazy. Now, make no mistake, AI will be horrible for humans in the long run creating a technocracy 1984 style (several stuff in the book already happen nowadays), but this commercial is fine haha
@@newme1589 I'm fine with human created ads, just make them human haha. Put the creative story telling, humour or interesting visuals that are going to stand out. The problem with ads is the people that can afford the stuff aren't interested and the people that are interested can't afford it. All adverts do is stick in your mind so when the time comes you need it and can afford it, you know who to check out. Who cares if it's AI if people aren't going to be like 😮 remember that toys r us advert that was AI. I'm not shopping there again.
