Great videos learned alot from them. Am about to service my epicon fork i wanted to know how many mililiters of oil is in the cartridge? Would 7.5w oil weight be alright its what i have available at the moment. Would appreciate the help! Thanks!
Thank you for watching, epicon higher price model have re serviceable damper cartridge, meaning u can screw the cap open just like those expensive brand fork like rs, fox, ect. and change the oil. but almost all epicon damper cartridges are sealed type, open up sealed cartridge take alot of effort and brain power to perform. normally damper oil are below 10w. if u want a more sensitive action use lower 5w or 2.5w. any normal setting will be 7.5w to 10w. some ppl even mixing their own recipe, for the volume of oil, normally i just add portion by portion until the damper work accordingly, depend on the type of cartridges, i believe should be around 60-100ml.
u need to remove the cap and try rotate the pole see if can be rotate easily. if not, u have to remove the whole lock mechanism and check whats wrong with it. after solving then try again with cap on. normally the lock mechanism has become dirty or rust and jam, cleaning and lube require.
Very good and detailed explanation. Is this a sealed cartridge? (looks like sealed). I have a suntour Epixon with remote lock-out and rebound that has a sealed cartridge, similar cartridge to yours (I think this is the same cartridge). The cartridge in my epixon is hydrolocking at 100mm of 140mm travel, because it sipped oil from fork lowers. What i need to do is somehow let the excess oil out from the cartridge. So it seems that you have the same cartridge and I could ask you some questions. How have you opened/disassembled the sealed cartridge? And can it be reassembled back? Mine has a sticker that warns about nitrogen inside. Could you explain how it was taken apart? because I don't see any nuts that can be loosened
if you open sealed cartridge need to be converted to open bath damper because is sealed you can't fix to later reassembly, if your Epixon have the metallic tread top cap you can replace with serviceable damper from higher models of Epixon or Axon
damper oil are all very low watt (below 10 - 2.5watt 5watt 7.5watt) because it need to pass tru small flow hole and create damping , damping factor is depend on the manufacture design and also how fast u want it to react, lower watt will react faster, highest would b slower respond.
