Landpet, I have been following you for a a long time and think you are an excellent reviewer and I appreciate your content. I have mentioned this before so I'll say it again - please, please, please include real world usage with wifi 6, 5 and especially 2.4ghz products! So many of us have smart home cameras and devices that still only use 2.4 or 5ghz. Range and throughput for these are extremely important to us smart home users.

I appreciate it! Thank you for that! While I think there is some value in that, the trend from looking at the analytics is people are just interested in the main speeds. The issue becomes the more stuff I add, the longer the videos become since everything requires more of an explanation which typically garners less interest as most people just want a quick speed test and to see if I ran into issues or not. Essentially I’m trying to streamline my videos to provide the most relevant information in the shortest amount of time. I’m even testing out speeding up the unboxings to see if people prefer that or not. I will say this, i typically test the routers for a week or two to see if I run into issues and I also have a ton of smart home devices like 25+ cameras, bunch of smart switches and plugs among other things like the nest thermostat and various streaming players. If I run into issues with anyone of those things, I will mention it but most of the newer routers are really good and I typically for the most part don’t have issues with my smart home devices, my laptops, tablets, nor my smart home devices. If I did, I will mention it in the video. Either way, I appreciate the feedback, thank you for taking the time to write it.

Thank you for the tests. The Be800 preform almost exactly like the ge, but it's cheeper (bought it for 400$ while the ge costs 600$).. so for me it was the obvious pick.
@landpet

I would pick the same for that big of a price difference

Home user here with 1g Xfinity service. I have really enjoyed the Deco X60 setup and would like to continue to use the satellites if possible with a new Wifi 7 Router. Is that a bad choice to just upgrade the main router vs getting a new wifi 7 whole home setup? 4300' 2 story home. Thanks and I really enjoy the uploads!

Just picked up the BE800 at Best Buy for $335 (391 member price and a 15% discount for trading in an older router). Can't wait to get it.

I picked up the BE800 from my local MC (sale @ 369.00) my first unit became defective when one of the incoming ports stopped working, Returned it and the 2nd unit works flawless. Its been a great router, It does take some time to initialize when it reboots (power outage etc) than my old alien router did.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could include 2.4ghz testing when testing all of your routers. Many of us have Smarthomes so range and ability to handle 50+ devices is a huge deciding factor.
@landpet
@landpet 6 дней назад
I appreciate the feedback and while it's a good suggestion, I'm going to keep my testing at 100ft which is still close enough for 5 or 6GHz band. The 2.4GHz is a dramatic slowdown in speeds and way more range. My older testing, I would go up to 350ft which would be forced to use the 2.4GHz but I decided to simplify the tests, make the videos shorter while keeping the most important parts that most care about.

Thank you as always for this amazing content. Your comprehensive testing really helps when choosing a router for different scenarios. Can you do an Asus WiFi 7 router comparison? I'm very curious to how the 320MHz bandwidth of the BE96, BE98 (Pro) and BE25000 compares to say the BE88U which also has 10G ports but tops out at 160MHz.
@landpet
@landpet 7 дней назад
You’re welcome! I was planning on comparing the faster WiFi 7 routers with various brands like the Asus, Netgear and TP Link as a video. For the Asus only comparison, the BE25000 doesn’t appear to be available in the US so it would be a BE98 Pro vs BE96U vs BE88u comparison if I decide to do that, but if I did that it would be at least a month or two away since I have several other videos I need to get to but I will consider it. Thanks for the feedback, suggestion and super thanks!

@@landpet That would be greatly appreciated. Take your time. Great content takes patience. I'm in no rush to adopt WiFi 7. New motherboards coming out have WiFi 7 but MSI has touted theirs to have "True WiFi 7" with 320MHz.

Hello, great video ! From your testing would you say the ge800 is better than the Asus GT-BE98 PRO ? Or is there not even a difference?
@landpet
@landpet День назад
I have to take a look at the numbers again, but the GE800 may actually be the best performing in terms of speeds. ASUS definitely has more options though. I like both honestly. I plan on doing a comparison video in the future with all the best wifi 7 routers and they will be compared to each other.

My expectation was the 900 would smoke all the others as it has more antennas - boy that seems wrong. I was pretty much sold on the 900, but now for about 150 bucks less the GE800 becomes a heck of a lot more interesting. Great content.

@@landpet Only thing that comes to mind for me is, firmware differences - maybe the GE is more 'mature' vs this brand new BE900 and that it gets better...later...maybe

Excellent review. Looks like I will have to consider TP Link again now that it’s possible to create a separate network for IoT devices. The app seems to have been updated quite a bit since I used the Deco 3-pack a few years ago. I have one question. Is it possible to check the internet speeds coming into the router from the modem on your phone like you can with Asus mesh routers? Thanks.
@landpet

I don’t have one running right now, so can’t answer with 100% confidence but from what I remember I believe they do support that.

Why did the be900 perform so poorly on the tests?
@landpet

I wouldn’t say poorly but yeah some of the results it did get beaten. It did beat almost everything for the WiFi 6E devices but yeah I’m not sure. This is why I test each one.
