most bang for the buck! Easily the best mesh you can buy under 400 dollars, and believe me ive tried a few.. I had a bad luck with google wifi, so i tried asus lyra instead.. warning! lyra = worst overpriced crap ever made.. Buggy cheap chinese app from hell, and disconnected and refused connecting some of my devices.. got this deco instead and they work like a charm.. reminds me of google wifi, but i managed to max out my 100/100mbit over this one.. With google i had a struggle reaching over 65-70 on the node 2 rooms from my wall outlet.. Buy the Deco.. my advice! great app, less speed loss, great stable strong connection
@@guerrillavinyl3178 Yes.. Strong stabile connection in the whole house! Great quality and works like a charm! Never fails or disconnects! Top notch for it's price range! Google and asus are not!
Does the first deco seriously require ethernet connection? Every youtuber shows only this method. I need a wi-fi mesh that connects to my already existing wi-fi and not run it as a stand alone replacement but manufacturers dont really give enough info prior to purchase.
my house has wired cables from my router, so can I use my deco as a wireless extender and still use the wired ethernet cables from the router for the devices that are plugged in ?? thanks
this is what I was wondering. I believe that what you said is correct. Can just plug one into the back of your router and then use the other two as extenders around the house.
Actually i switched my mesh wifi a month a go from deco and changed it to linksys velop. My main reason are the durability and the support. Deco is cheap compared to order brands that's why i brought. But after a month of using this it auto restart without any reason. The support hotline is USELESSSSSSS. Never fooled because of the price.
I could never get wifi into my shed with aluminum covering on the interior walls 40ft away with orbi mesh or spectrum's wifi 6 untill I purchased the 3 pack TP link M5. With a 100 mbps internet speed I get (with the door closed and sealed I'm getting 65 mbps and NOW able to stream moves, use the phone and have full bars to the edge of may 2 1/2 car garage and to the end of the property line approx 150 ft away and now I'm not dropping out my cameras in both ft and rear of the house. LOVE THIS SYSTEM!!!!!!
I really don't understand why people "like the fact that is has USB-C power" on some devices. Would you like your fridge or doorbell to be USC-C powered? That usbC port+cable is very-very-very f**kin' FRAGILE!! and it helps with NOTHING if it only powers the device. I hope Apple doesn't change the iphone lightning port to usb-Crap, and remove the usbC charging from laptops, and many other examples. Sorry for my rage on an unrelated video, but I see this very often and it makes me crazy, why everybody wants this typeC all over their devices. I am using an expensive dongle on my Macbook Pro M1 (work laptop, didn't choose it, would never buy it), to connect my external monitor and other mice, keyboards (which of course they have USB-A dongles in 2021), and every time I f***ing move the laptop, the usb-Crap port is not perfect and my monitor disconnects.
You could connect it to any switch as long as it supports automatic config on the switch and if not you need to crossover your cable for your switch to connect it and make sure to connect your router cable to the switch
Buddy, you have a good video but you talk way too fast and do not pronounce words. The entire point is communication. Take a breath, slow down a nano-second between words and it would be more helpful. Great practical information, but I miss a lot of what you are trying to say.
not and excellent explanation for a dutch man like me because you talk too fast and can't make any understanding out of it. Maybe slow down next time and film it better.
After installing the first Deco (Mother node) (directly to the ISP's router), do the remaining 2 nodes (nodes B and C) have to be in range of the mother node? Or is it enough for node B to be in range of the Mother node and node C to be in range of node B? P.S. Found your reviews for this and the Linksys Velop very very helpful!!
Why is mine so unstable? It drops up and down all the time. Im 5 feet away from on of the boxes and we are paying for 300/300 and im getting under 100.
Just a question - if i was using the Deco on wifi, could I then use the ethernet cable for my computer? My computer doesnt have wifi, but has an athernet port (my modems throughout the house arent directly connected to ethernet)
Let’s say I wanted to use just 2 of the routers, one for my hallway and one for my bedroom. Can I put my first router away from the modem or should they be together?
GeekSmart if my modem is plugged into a datapoint, from its WAN port and the deco is plugged into a datapoint in a different room, which is plugged into a LAN port on my modem, this should also work right?
These do work with a wired backhaul. I've seen other videos demonstrating this working. Maybe it wasn't working properly in the firmware at the time you reviewed it? It'd be great if you had a screen capture for your phone screen so we can clearly see what you're showing. Anyhow, a nice summary of these units. I'm still torn between the Deco M5, Eero and Asus Lyra Trio.
Can you use 2 nodes? One of them connected to a fibre Ethernet port and the other one, 60-70 feet away, but connected to the modem? Will my electronics get connected without any hassle of disconnecting?
Late to the party here, but which port on your modem do you use? Most have one WAN port, and multiple LAN ports. Does the Deco want to be in the WAN or LAN port?
Didn't understand the comments at the end about wireless setup versus wired setup. Do you have to do the initial setup in wireless mode and then you can connect them wired for best stability? Or are you saying that a wired connection between the units is never possible?
Do you have to discard the ISP's modem and start fresh with these or can this just be hooked up to their modem? I thought these systems just fed off of the modem you have?
My d link dgs 1024C is connected to deco m4 but as add more devices to the switch it crashes the network... Please help and tell me which switches are supposed by deco
Great video! If I have a modem/router (its one single device) do I need to get a regular modem for these mesh routers to work correctly? Or can I just deactivate the WLAN option from my current modem/router?
I live in Australia and our NBN company has provided Arris CM8200 modem. Can we directly connect this deco unit to directly to Arris CM8200 Modem or do we need a bridge router connecting both Deco and Arris CM8200
Hi I hope you can help I did my set up and my wifi conections are great, but I have 2 Nas . 1 is a WD My Cloud, and " is a Qnas. they both ethernet connected bus now I cant discover them to conect to them nor can I acces on their web site. Any ideas, thanks
Do you know if the wireless backhaul is automatically disconnected when you use the wired backhaul? Also can the wired backhaul be on the same network? Lastly...can routing be turned off and be used as an access point? I want to use my existing router as the main gateway, dhcp services, etc. Nice review.
Hello. I have this question for myself also. Did you use the tp link mesh in wired ethernet mode connected to your switch? Im wondering if i can use that and still be on the same network
Just purchased this on Amazon and it looks like a nice setup and you can't beat the price but I didn't know there were PRIVACY concerns. From my understanding, the Deco mesh network is always connected to the company's cloud which collects all of your personal information and browsing data - they also have the right to sell this to other parties. This is just creepy. I am returning it unless someone can clarify this. If anyone knows of a mesh setup that doesn't require connectivity to the company or at least opt out - let me know. Keeping home network private is a MUST for me. Sad - I was hoping this would have worked out.
Only if you use the parental control feature. They don’t sell the information though. “We will collect a device's browser history and access time when the device is under the control of the Parental Controls feature, such as the Parental Controls feature on Deco Products, in order to better monitor the device which is under control.”
@@felixmintah8632 I sent it back but my internet provider was having issues due to lockdown so I can't give an honest answer. If you need signal then this is pretty good and easy to set up but specs wise not mind blowing.
Do you need to connect the ethernet cable to the wifi router for it to work? and can I get a better internet connection(ping) when I only plug in the ethernet cable to the deco M5 and my pc(without plugging in my ethernet cable to the Deco M5 and my wi-fi router).
Connect it to the router then deco and that's all. Deco purposes is for wireless connection. You should probably connect your cable to router to pc instead
Set my 6 node network up today. I am on Virgin Media 200 mbps and I am getting an indicated 220 mbps absolutely everywhere in a 12 room double fronted terrace with internal brick walls. It was soooo easy to set up, not a single glitch. Very happy with the Deco, Highly Recommended!
I just replaced my Archer C7 and AC1750 range extender with a set of 3 of these M5 and so far they work much better. Getting about 60% faster speeds than before in my garage office. Now we wait and see if the "freezing" still happens. The C7 would often go to the "connected but no internet" state and I would have to reboot or disable/enable the client or reboot the router. This used to happen several times a week and is the main reason I just replaced it.
i forgot my username on my deco app. is there any chance that i can retrieve it or can i just reset the deco and make a new username and password for it?
umm Mesh systems are usually for medium to big houses.. they usually come in packs of 3. If you have a large enough home, this would suffice as it would get rid of dead spots but if not, a simple range extender is much more cost-effective.
You can also try configuring the Address Reservation function in DHCP Server Settings. I read somewhere that it is possible to access the advanced features by logging into a web browser setup for the Deco.
The deco app is USELESS. I purchased the Deco E3, have tried x 2 to install and get "no internet" from my computer; however, according to the 1 page "too small to read" instructions that come with the unit when the white light is illuminated it is internet ready. Not so. It's now gathering dust.
I guess I will choose this Deco M5 set. I was also considering Tenda Nova MW6 but it lacks some advanced settings and antivirus & protection features. I hope M5 will meet my requirements. Otherwise, I will change to tri-band mesh solution like TP-Link Deco M9, D-Link COVR-2202 or Zyxel Multy X.
Tri-Band is definitely better because of the dedicated 5Gz line the routers keep for wireless back haul. I use Netgear Orbi RBK50 and its excellent. I wish we could buy a 3-pack version here or another satellite for cheaper. 1 Satellite costs like 70% of a new 2 pack Orbi RBK50. Deco M9 is better in a way that you can get 3 pack roughly the same cost as Orbi.
@@drzefkovitsh We can get the 3-pack here, it costs same as a orbi rbk50 2 pack. But spec and performance wise orbi is better (yet very costly). Moreover, deco supports multiple deco units to be added in the mesh (even other deco models) but orbi supports only 2 satellite. So do some calculations, see if you'll ever need to increase satellites, then proceed. These are costly investments and you might regret if things don't work out.
@@drzefkovitsh Good luck. The 2.4Gz goes really far but it's the 5Gz band which has trouble penetrating wall and has much less range than 2.4Gz. Deco is better in a way that all the Satellites are equal or same as router (you can use any satellite as the router and vice versa). So removing or including is extremely easy. But the orbi is fixed. 1 router and 1 satellite. I'm thinking about getting the deco when I move to a bigger house.
I need something to reach from my house to a gameroom apx 150’ away with nothing between the two. - can I link these guys to extend wireless out there?
@@Daddy53751 got the deco mesh 3 piece set. put one in the house as the base, second one on screened back porch that faces the out building I needed to reach, and third one right inside on the window sill of the out building. It works - two times I’ve had to unplug and reset it due to loss of signal issues.
