Dude.... thank you so much for your videos, very informative. After going back and forth with tri band and dual band wifi 6 routers for 2 days, i figured that the x60, with a wired backhaul is my best bet, one little piece of information that i would like to share is that, with the Netgear Orbi systems, i believe that you have to pay an annual subscription for their Armor software, after paying a premium on their tri band system, i think it is unfair to have the customer pay additional subscription for Armor. TP Link on the other hand doesent seem to have any such hidden costs. I have always been a TP link fan, and love their routers...Thanks for all your help.
@landpet
@landpet 3 года назад
No problem, yes you are right about paying additional fees. To link gives you a lot for free but if you get the higher end routers like the X68 or X90 there is also a paid subscription which gives more features granted I really think that should be free cause you're already paying a premium price. Asus XT8 takes the cake for free parental controls and extra features cause they literally don't have a paid version at all but the X60 is axing for wired backhaul, it is still my most preferred dual band system.

I found that the range - is quite impressive. I have coverage in my entire back yard and can walk out the front door and get 3 houses over and still have connection to my wifi - HOWEVER, placement is key. In my office, I was getting worse speed than with my ISP's wifi - it was quite disapointing. After moving one of the access points to another location, I do now have incredible speed in my office.

Well, the product is going back 1. have to use their app to use it. 2. No app for Windows and can't use a browser. 3 Have to create an account to use to use it. 4. You need an Android or Apple phone\tablet to set up. Really upset with Microcenter sales for giving me the wrong information ... I asked for a router ... sales directed me to this, and in my opinion ... it's not really a router. I don't see one video that brings this detail out ... they thus get a TD!

I haven't tested the X20 but judging based on the specs, this will have better wireless backhaul speeds compared to the X20. In terms of coverage, 3 X20's would probably cover more than 2 X60's.

We have ethernet cables running through each room, so I am planning to do a wire backhaul (if I understand the term correctly), use the default router/wifi/modem from the ISP provider, turn off the wifi functionality of the default router (not sure yet how to do that though) and put deco on each room and use 5ghz band. Do you think that will work? The router/modem comes from Huawei. Will it have problem with the Deco units? Can the TV and other small devices connect to the 5ghz band?
@landpet
@landpet 3 года назад
Yes that should work fine with this and the TP Link will determine if the device needs to connect to the 5GHz or 2.4GHz band.

Following your excellent review and thanks for the review I bought the deco x60 and I am very satisfied, I just wanted one question from you, do I need to change the encryption to wpa3, or some setting to use wi fi 6 on its best speed .
@landpet
@landpet 2 года назад
No problem! You don’t need to do anything to use WiFi 6, it’s automatic assuming your device supports it. Enabling WPA3 may not be compatible with older devices so you can try it but I usually use WPA2 or a combination of WPA2 and WPA3 assuming there is an option for that.

I appreciated that you mentioned dual band vs tri band but do you think for the average home owner a dual band is sufficient? That has been my interpretation but wanted to see you you think. Thank you! PS which mesh system do you use?
@landpet
@landpet 3 года назад
Dual band is sufficient in most cases but it all depends on the person. If you're doing a wireless backhaul (Option #4) setup and you don't mind slow downs on the secondary device, then go with dual-band. With wired-backhaul (Option #3), there's not much difference between dual band or tri band. Technically in that case it can support more wireless devices without slowing down as much but most people will not encounter this anyways. I am currently using the eero Pro 6 and the Netgear Orbi RBK752. The last few weeks however I was using the ASUS XT8.

Nice review!! Just bought a 2-pack of these for my 150 sqm house. Still waiting for them to arrive, but I hope 2 will be enough to cover the most important areas. The fiber modem is beneath the living room and dining room so 1 will be downstairs and 1 upstairs. I also have Ethernet ports leading from downstairs to ports upstairs. My question for you is (hang on now). Is this setup possible to not lose much performance: Deco 1 to modem -> Deco 1 to a switch -> Switch to Ethernet port on the wall (downstairs) -> Ethernet port on the wall (upstairs) to Deco 2 -> Deco 2 to another switch -> Switch to different devices, like Apple TV. The wifi will probably be ok, but will I lose performance if I don't directly connect Deco 1 and 2 and instead connect to Deco 2 through a switch? Will the devices at the end (Apple TV etc) lose any performance with this setup? Thanks in advance! :) @landpet

@landpet
@landpet 3 года назад
Depends what you're looking for. I like the X60 cause it gives better wireless backhaul numbers compared to the XD4 and every X60 has 2 ports where the XD4 nodes only have one. They're both good but I personally prefer the X60.

@landpet

I haven't tested it with those speeds but I imagine it will be a little slower with wireless backhaul. From what I've seen, the internet slows down relatively based on your speeds. Granted this is the best dual band I've tried so it's worth a shot to see how week it does. The weird thing is I got almost full speeds on my xbox (xbox connected via ethernet to secondary router) while in option #4.

Where the X60 fell down for me was that it only has 2 Lan ports (compared to the X55 that has 3) This means that ethernet switches will be needed to ethernet connect the triple set at the hub with the other 2 as satellites (you have the double). That's dumb by TP as that increased the cost instantly as it meant I instantly needed a handful of switches to connect my hardwired devices on the satellites where as with the X55 I could just get away with it. lazy lazy lazy TP I mean what would have been the cost of more Lan ports :-(
@nacho_wifey
@nacho_wifey 2 года назад
Do you need to plug one directly into the modem, or if we have data ports around the house, can we just plug the main deco into one of those ports and set up? Also, to make them access points, do we need to turn off the wifi on the modem? Right now, the main deco is plugged into the wall port, not the back of the modem, and I have them set in access point mode. We then connect to the modem's wifi, and it reaches all over, but the deco wifi is still visible. I assume that's just for set up and I can hide the network if I wanted? I THINK it's working properly but idk how to test that. For reference, modem/router is in the basement and I'm still able to connect with full bar wifi on the 2nd floor, so I think that means the access points are just boosting the signal as I wanted?
@landpet
@landpet 2 года назад
It sounds right from what you're saying since you're running it in access point mode. You don't need to turn off the wifi from your modem since you are running the to link in access point mode. I personally prefer turning off the wifi from your modem and connecting these to a modem and running this in router mode but the important thing is, if it works and you're satisfied then everything else is just semantics.

I don’t have the deco m9 plus to compare and I don’t have the X60 anymore either. I don’t always keep all the mesh WiFi’s I review otherwise there would be no space in my place. Between those two, I would go with the X60 because lots of devices support WiFi 6

One Deco X60 router connects to your modem, then from that main Deco X60 router, you can go to the other X60 or you can go from the main Deco X60 to an unmanaged switch, then from that switch, you can go to all the other Deco X60's. I'm going to do a video on the Deco X68 or Deco X20 on how to connect them, whatever I say in that video can apply to the X60. If you want to see something now on how to connect it, you can watch my eero 6 setup video and every time I say eero 6, you can assume I'm saying Deco X60 because the connections are the same. Do you have any troubleshooting tips for intermittent internet loss, I have trouble staying connected during wifi gaming sessions and work meetings. I've tried changing alot of the settings in the app but honestly i dont know what im really doing, although turning off beamforming definitely made things worse, despite the tp link FAQs recommending trying it. I am only in a 2 bedroom flat, there is alot of wireless connections around me from other flats, i don't know if that has any impact or if there is a way to combat this?
@landpet

I didn't have issues when I was using it, I'm assuming you tried restarting both your internet and this mesh? Other than that, I can't recommend much else. If you have a switch, check the switch as well, bypass it and see if problems disappear. Also check your ethernet cables, the ones connected from the modem to the router or both if you're on wired backhaul.

Yes you should enable bridge mode. I don't believe this will change anything since the MoCA is going through the ethernet port. If it gives you issues, you can connect it from the 1st X60 like so: Xfinity Gateway > X60 > 1st MoCA > 2nd MoCA > X60. Since now you're internet source is coming from the

It depends on your setup, how many walls you have, how far the deco's are from each other, how fast your internet speeds are, among other things. If you're going for a wireless backhaul setup, I would get something more powerful like the Deco XE75 if you're at 1Gbps or under. That should be better than the X60 for wireless backhaul, for wired backhaul, they should all work great. Streaming also depends on your upload speeds, even with the best router if your upload speeds aren't that fast, it still may cause lags.

What's the router model number? It should work if you put it in bridge mode. OR you can run the TP-Link in Access Point mode which just expands your existing network and your current router remains the router. More info here: www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1842/

Hi buddy, been going through ur videos doing my R&R to zero in on a router that meets my requirements, but Im still confused :( can you plz help me, I have a 500mbps ISP connection, and I need fast Internet with extremely low latency/data loss, the issue is I can only connect a router to my modem and I need the strong signal around 10-15ft away in another room that has walls obstructing, and Im only able to get 70-80mbps as of now, what might be the best possible "WIRELESS" solution as per you?? I am considering Deco X60, Asus AX6600 (single unit) or TPLink Archer AX73
@landpet
@landpet Месяц назад
It also depends on the device you're running the speed tests from. From those choices, I would go for the AX73 for your situation. If the device you're using has an ethernet port, I would get a mesh system, connect one to the router and just plugin in the second one in that room so it can wirelessly talk to the router. Then you can plug in your ethernet to the wireless node you placed in the room and that should get you great speeds. Check out the ASUS XT9 (2 pack) for that. Here's an example video of the Deco BE85 where I run a test off the wireless backhaul node via wifi and via ethernet from the device and show the speed differences. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y9fiQqi_egA.html
