In this video, I go over how to set up an OC200 Omada Hardware Controller for the first time. This device is just a small piece of equipment that hosts the Omada controller software. It is much more convenient than needing to run the software on a PC or Server 24/7.
I cover how to connect to, and set up the device for the first time as well as how to add a few access points to it. Finally, we cover how to upgrade the firmware on the device.
00:00: Intro
01:11: Connecting the OC200
03:32: Discovery and Configuration via Mobile App
08:35: Connecting to OC200 via Web Browser
09:34: Connecting Access-Points
11:10: Checking the Fallback IP
12:10: Adopting Access-Points
14:35: Upgrading Controller Firmware
17:29: Differences in Old and New Controller Firmware (V5.4 to V5.12)
18:59: Upgrading Access-Point Firmware (not needed in this video)
19:55: Re-naming Access-Points
20:25: Outro

Very useful and informative! I just added an EAP610-Outdoor to my existing system (Google WiFi with ethernet backhaul and a couple of D-Link switches) and have been trying to get a handle on whether I'd want to go with a full Omada setup with the time comes to replace what I have. I was a bit concerned that I'd be forced to custom configure from the ground up and get in over my head. This is very reasuring, and easier than some of the old Netgear stuff I did previously. Thanks for the insight!

Would the Pharos CPE510 show up on this controller? I tried to hook 1 on it, as well as 2 Deco M4Rs and the M4Rs showed up fine, but I couldn't see the CPE510. Am I doing something wrong on my end, or is it a software issue? I'd very much appreciate a quick response as it would make my boss happy to know hahaha xD aaaahhh... help....

Hi, Is it possible to also manage remote devices in other locations? I imagine you have to activate the Cloud function, but is it free?

I’m using software controller, had my router setup via Omada, but I changed the IP of the server running the software and I can’t get anything to register anymore. Assuming I need to factory reset. Thoughts?

There are a couple ways to go about this. The quickest way would be to revert the IP address and allow the devices to reconnect. From there, you can change the adoption address to the new IP. If you have the previous login information, you can login to the devices individually and update the "Inform URL" to the new IP address. The devices should just pop up in the controller after this inform URL is updated.

Hi. Can I directly connect OC200 to my current Huawei AX3 router? I'm using Starlink in bypass mode, by the way.

The OC200 is a network controller only; for managing TP Link OMADA products, it does not have any control over non- TP Link OMADA products.

@ToastyAnswers

No, you cannot manage Unifi devices with this controller. The Unifi Cloud Key is the equivalent hardware for Unifi devices.
@MatjazRazdevsek

@@ToastyAnswers but you can still use AC LR from Ubiquiti as an access point for wifi. You just need to manage it via unifi controller right?

If you lose your oc 200 (failure) do you lose the ability to manage your network since devices connected omada can’t be managed locally anymore?
@ToastyAnswers
@ToastyAnswers 4 месяца назад
Not entirely, but it requires some recovery to get management back. Hopefully, you are backing up the controller configuration periodically so you always have a failsafe if something goes wrong. Strictly speaking, you do lose management if the controller dies... however you have multiple ways of regaining management again after a failure. You can restore from backup to either another hardware or software controller or (if you have the new local management password) you can login to the devices locally and point them to a new controller instance. If you don't have any backups or passwords then you could very well be looking at a rebuild from scratch. Always backup your data.

What if you don't have a router or anything like that
@ToastyAnswers
@ToastyAnswers 4 месяца назад
Then you'd be working with an isolated network. It can be done, but there is a lot of manual/static configuration if you're going to run a network without a router. If you have a need for this, a hardware controller may not be a top priority.

I request the support on my omada OC200 controller. I would like to know how to send automatic reports to my email monthly, since I have 200 parents distributed by the branches. Regards
