I bought a tpi and then sold it after a month. Kept my 17. All I can say is go get a used carb bike before they are all wore out.

I think you've got the power valve tuning backwards...I've got the '21 EX300 and have played with the different springs/preload extensively and unquestionably, turning the adjuster out makes for a more aggressive hit. Because you are decreasing preload on the spring which allows the power valve to open sooner/quicker.

I thought turning the power valve "IN" makes it more mellow and moving it out makes it more aggressive?

Not quite a fair test in my opinion. Put the same $ into the carb bike including a Lectron. Carb bike wins all day.

Put a new lectron billitron carb on and you would not want TPI

A comparison with a $600 Two Stroke Performance kit versus the $450 carb kit might be a bit more fair. My 2021 GasGas is the best running two stroke I’ve ever owned. We’ve installed 15 plus TSP kits from Steve at South Bay Moto Performance and they are all flawless.

For me the 2017 ktm husqvarna 300cc carburetor is their best motor and chasis no vibrations.i had a new husqvarna 300 for like 5 years ridings extreme enduro and I was and amazing bike but then I wanted a more smooth motor and linear and i gota used 2017 300 in 2021 and it was really different from what ktm motor from 2012 to 2016.only problem with carb bikes is that they don't always run perfect until it is hot and perfect oil mix,gas leaking and sometimes no perfect acceleration so even if I have not used a tpi i think will work better then tpi but carburetor bikes for me they never fail for many years same bike but yea sometimes you just want perfection without a mechanic.

Can’t go wrong with the Lectron. Absolutely zero issues on my 2018 TE300. Sea level to 7,000 feet above.

I personally prefer the TPI, simply because of the perfect mapping.

Thanks for the comparo. It does make me a bit sad that even after you spend all that money you still get the nightmare down the track of troubleshooting random or intermittent failures of things like sensors, injectors and the oil pump etc. That's before you even try to fix the xplor forks and shock on the xcw. And people bag out the 450L for needing a vortex... I wish yamaha would come back into the 2T game properly.

I find the 17 and newer “KTM” 2T best PV setting is 5/8-3/4 out from factory. At 2 turns you’ve gone so far you’re actually detuning the bike similar to going in. Creates a lag and hit.

No shit Sherlock. There is not a injected bike on the market that is better than a carbed bike. It's just another con. I had a dyno and the only way to get a injected bike any thing close to carbs was re mapping, then guess what? They drink more fuel that a carbed bike. I had a TLS 1000 which would see off most things but drank a full tank in less than 68 miles!
