Blip: 2:36 Apropos of nothing: the coffee maker price did not deattach upon getting it right. Probably the stagehand behind forgot / missed the button?
The "zero rule" is one of those things that separates the fans vs. those who hardly ever watch the show. You should see me flying out of my seat when a contestant writes something not ending in zero. Almost as bad as picking "certs" or "gum" as the most expensive in the hi/lo game.
I get so frustrated watching "10 chances." I usually skip these ones. LOL! They either don't watch the show, or they're not very observant. I just watched a "cliff hangers" last night, and the woman gave single digit prices for ALL THREE! That's another easy game if you know what you're doing. The prizes always go from least expensive to most expensive... so if the first one was $25, it would be stupid to say $6 for the next one. 😐
Thank you! Yes, I have noticed the same with Cliff Hangers. It is like they are practically giving the prize away for being a loyal fan. Any Number? Yes, they want to lose. But Ten Chances and Cliff Hangers are a, "we need a winner here" game.
Years ago, after a contestant had no clue how to play the game lost, Bpb Barker looked straight into the camera and said, "This isn't a hard game. There's a secret to winning this game and if you watch the show, you know what it is."
actually there is a secret to winning this game. the secret is the zero is always the last number. if you keep that in mind this game is easy to win. either people are not real fans of the show or the pressure of being on stage makes them forget about this secret.
As I said above. Fine. Zero is the last number. So what? that means a dozen or more combinations of numbers for the car. With a maximum of 8 chances. Sorry, you cannot game the game.
Drew tried to help him out with the car. After the third guess, where the contestant switched the 3rd and 4th digit between his first and third try, Drew brought a lot of attention to that switch... and ultimately, the correct answer was the switch of the 3rd and 4th digit from his second try.
zero drama for this game? Its nothing if see this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XFUrCBXRH8o.html Since day 1, I always wonder why they made such a decision choosing him hosting this show. Nothing excited, jokes at wrong things at wrong times and laughs at his own jokes...Now watching the show for me is only watching who's winning what and that's it.
Every price on this particular game, always end in a zero...Although, like somebody mentioned in their post, on this page, I have seen the price end in a five. But nothing else. I love it when a contestant writes a price of $ 94 dollars, when they are given a 9-4-0 to choose from, and must use two of the three numbers, for the price of an item. If you have watched the T.P.I.R. for even a couple of years, that should be something that you remember about the ten chances game. Which is quite an ole game, I remember seeing that game, way back in the early eighties, when Bob Barker was the host. And it has always been the same, the last digit is always a zero, or a five. I did some research, and have verified that the last digit can be a zero or a five, and nothing else. So just knowing that, makes the first two prizes quite easy to guess. If you play it right, you can have six or seven chances to correctly guess the price of the car. Ten chances is definitely a game that I would like to get to play, if I ever went to a live taping of the show, and got picked to go on stage...
It honestly surprises that Mike still carries on the zero rule. He could really pollute this game without the zero rule if he wanted to.....not that I'm trying to give him any ideas. At least the contestant was smart enough use the zero rule. What an epic win!!
This game's also fourth for the first time since October 17, 2008 (S37). In other words, "1/2 Off" was sixth for the second time in its life. Coincidentally, the other time that game was last, we also had a car game in the fourth slot and a one prize quick in the fifth slot. So what, in order to have "1/2 Off" sixth, we have to have a car game fourth and a one prize quick game fifth? Well, I'm kind of down that, but I'm not sure it's a good idea or not.
You know.. when I saw him jumping around and so engaging with the audience I said to myself "They really should get Shay Carl on TPIW". lol Not that he really looks like him, its just his exuberance, energy, beard and general body type.
I use to think that too, but 1 episode, the 0 wasn't the final number, not to mention, the contestant only won the 1st prize. That must've been in the 70's. I wish I would've saved it. I saw it here on youtube. I guess after that show, the Zero rule became effective.lol ( To only win 1 prize)
@@feliciargallaud Actually, you CAN lose all three prizes IF you exceed the 'ten second' rule. Why there wasn't a clock displayed, I don't know. People DO NOT like timed pricing games.
@@loulfw2513 The one showing the scrambled numbers (which conceals the card behind it with the correct price [which, as long as the contestant's guess is correct -- meaning the correct numbers were used and they're in the right order, cues the stagehand behind the game to allow the scrambled number card to drop & reveal the actual price, when the button is pressed]).
Good for you, you want a cookie? Out of the 137k people who have watched this video, at least 1140 would have gotten it by just guessing completely random numbers, not even considering that the car very likely would not start with 4, 8, 9, or 0. Considering that, actually, 5700 people could've gotten it if they were just smart enough to know that it starts with a 1.
That was my theory, until I saw 1 episode, many years ago, perhaps in the70's. The contestant didn't even when the 2nd prize and of course there were only 3 numbers in the prize, but it didn't end in 0. ( I saw it here on youtube) Perhaps, that was the 1st and only time that has ever happened because I never saw that again,
Why the hell are they always SUPER excited about the possibility of getting a new car? It's what I would least want my prize would be, it's just a tax liability unless you don't already have a car and even then, the taxes you have to pay will be more than you'd pay for the whole car to buy a respectable used car of a make and model of your choice that will likely last longer if you know what you're doing.
A trip is worse. At least with a car you have a tangible asset. With the trip, not only is it something you can't "keep" but the suggested retail price is always much, much higher than what you could get if you booked a trip on your own.
