00:00:40 the driving force behind the show's success was the audience's unprecedented, quick, honest, natural and genuine behavior. authentic spontaneous applause and fun. this is the spiritus movens of the huge success and popularity of the show...
Notice that some of the items on the turntable were shaking as Johnny was announcing them. It is because that the stagehands were lifting up the display stands with the items on top by either placing them against the turntable or moving them away to place the two others for the last pair to be announced later on. Also, doesn't the Give or Keep set board remind you of the Bonus Game?
Also from the January 4, 1983, episode of _The Price Is Right ▶️._ And it's spelled the late ⏰ Johnny Olson (née John Leonard Olson), not Olsen. LOL 😆!
"Maneater" by Hall and Oates and "Business As Usual" by Men At Work were the #1 single and album respectively in the U.S. during that time period whereas in the U.K., it was "Save Your Love" by Rene And Renato and "The John Lennon Collection". In addition, British lead singer Nick Hayward of Haircut 100 (Love Plus One) quits for a solo career while the reminder of the band releases one more album later on without Hayward and appears on the Nickelodeon talk show Livewire to promote it.
0:51: It's the Wurlitzer Estrella jukebox with 200 selections, stereo amplifier, sure magnetic pickup, electronic coin counter, and automatic top tunes; and it's a price worth... $2,953!
Last night it was very hard for Penny Olson to sleep! All night long, her husband Johnny shouted......._________(Fill in the blank below....pun intended btw)
TPIR announcers from best to worst in my opinion (not counting sub announcers or Burton Richardson): 1. Johnny Olson - The OG. You could tell he loved TPIR and he loved his job. While he started to slur a little in his last 2-3 years, his enthusiasm never waned. He remains the best. 2. George Gray - Might be a surprise choice for some, but I like George. He has the right level of enthusiasm and fun. He also has good chemistry with Drew. 3. Rod Roddy - From 1986-1993ish, he was awesome. After 1993, he started to sound very bored and bland. Not sure if it was health, the drama behind the scenes or just boredom, but he was great for 7ish years and mediocre for about 10. 4. Rich Fields - Never liked Rich. Maybe he's a nice guy, but his tone and mannerisms came off very fake and artificial. His tone was more irritating than exciting.
My favorite price is right announcers is, Johnnie olson, Rod Roddy, rich fields, and favorite substitutes gene wood, Randy west, and Burton Richardson. I’m not a fan of George gray I’m afraid.
Rich Fields was fired because Drew Carey wanted his own guy behind the announcer's podium. Sort of like in pro sports when a new GM fires the coach/manager of the team to hire his own. BTW - Rich now does weather/meteorology segments for WTSP-Channel 10 in Tampa, FL.
@@robbernath and, he is also a motivational speaker, and he has his own podcast titled come on down. He shares the show with Dave Wagner who is a broadcaster as well.

Yeah you could tell the season where he starting dying it. Maybe 1985? Then in ‘87 he went full grey. I suspect this here was still his natural color in 1987 but he just went full grey.
Eew. I don’t think so. but I will say they are finally reunited. Rest in peace to both of these great gentlemen. If I’m correct, I think this was around the time that Dorothy Joe Bob Barker‘s wife passed away.
