Nice! But i’d like if they add some “unquantized” features, it could work like the new “probability”, letting us set a percentage value to some of the notes. But it’s great to know that Roland continues to release new features to the TR-6S!
hi, just a quick question, I love the sound of the CR78 and have two sample packs containing the sounds of the original kit and would love to import the whole kit (as individual samples - kick, snare, etc) and use it as a whole, but i don't think I'm super sure the TR6S can actually do that, could anyone confirm this to me? great video!
Hey I appreciate that! The latest update actually includes CR-78 sounds in it - and they use ACB technology and respond exactly like the the OG unit. Highly recommend that you update! Here's what's new: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ramwh4RLCAk.htmlsi=Eu8VtYHt1-DJnXnH
Good stuff good sir. Dunno if you know this though, but if you hold shift while scrolling the value dial, it increases or decreases at greater values for faster scrolling. Also, if you wanna quickly changed things like reverb/delay send or other effects of a specific instrument track, you can hold "kit" and turn the CTRL dial and it'll select various parameters you can change. It's all about the shortcuts :) Great content \m/
I came to the conclusion tonight that I’m selling my Model Samples & Cycles, and replacing it with the TR-6s for side jamming. I always struggled with the Model Samples and Cycles but not the Digitakt and Digitone. Only things is they don’t leave the house, but the 6s is super portable and sounds great. Looks a lot more easier to program then the Models too. This video sold me on it. The way you can swap out drums on the fly and hear them is how I like to work. I build a beat then scroll threw different drums/kits. I just think it’s gonna be better over all for me. Thanks for the video 🙌🏼
11:05 im JUST NOW getting used to this, especially when adjusting individual instrument FX versus global FX. (ie. instead of turning up global reverb, accidentally pitching the snare all the way up.) Thatd be a great video, the live workflow of FX control on the 6S and how to get used to knowing what parameter/FX is going to be adjusted when a knob is turned.
the FM model instruments are waaaay more easily customizable on the editor app. it might have less model instruments, but the FM sounds on the TR end up being way cooler sounding and more customizable
Thanks for all your TR-6S videos. I just got one and have been really loving it. It also makes me feel less dumb that you also have the same issue with switching the master fx control and reverb/delay sends on and off. What IS it with that?
Thanks for this video Liam. I purchased the 6S and the MC-101 at the same time and always lean to the drum track on the 101 but when you delve deeper into the 6S, it's quite a powerful little Rhythm Performer. Only wish it had a proper song mode....
You got the beat! ... never one to skimp on detail ... or just scratch the surface ... always a deep dive .. cheers to your consistent style of bringing all the bells and whistles ..
I know! My apologies but there’s a technical issue I had to pull and reprocess the video. It’s currently set to private. Should be back up in the next hour ish Frankly it’s pretty annoying lol
Yeah the sound of these Roland drum machines = quantized AF. That being said, if you go into the reverse swing territories, you can get some interesting time divisions.
Loads to take away from your video👍🏼thanks😎 I’m so impressed with my TR6S the sounds are beefy and the workflow just feels natural and logical unlike the Elektron Model Samples (now up for sale!)
fm Toms sound huge!!!! Clap is nice too. FYI - Shift & Knob turn saves you spinning it a million times a day, numbers jump in increments of 10 instead of 1. 😉⭐️
@@LiamKillen Of course. Official legacy support is still a pipe dream of mine, but if a company like Roland began doing little things like that - it would really speak volumes to their integrity as a manufacturer. Today things seem skewed towards business models involving frequent upgrades and modular functionality. Definitely more fun than DAW in a box but quite expensive if you like features 😈
@@cedrick642 yes thx I know that feature but it effectively locks you to a computer, and at that point why wouldn’t I just use a daw’s compression for sidechain? What it can’t do is sidechain the parts dawless, ie. truly internally/stand-alone and since it has no aux outputs it's difficult to use in the real world.
I'm pissed that Roland finally updated their TR editor and they didn't fix the issue with screen resolution. I run my monitor at 1920 by 1080. Which I would venture to guess is about the most popular resolution. The bottom of the app's screen is cut off. The only way I can run it is if I have my monitor in portrait mode. And they have no way to adjust the resolution in the app. I was stoked that they updated the app because I know they knew about this issue. And they did nothing to fix it. Smh
