1970 Triumph TR6 with Ford 347 Stroker, daily driver, very fast quarter mile, will beat a Lotus Super 7 on road coarse, goes down the highway over 190 mph! And that is without the Nitrous!
People can say what they want, but if You put a smallblock Ford V8 into that car and made a beast out of it, that's great. It sure seems like a blast to drive, and I'm very sure it's not as front heavy as some might think, the original I-6 engine was no lightweight, nor was it really that powerful. There's still a lot of very nice TR6's out there, so You didn't ruin anything.
basically you do not drive a triumph. you drive a ford. And this is a compromise.I prefer the good old british engine with its marvelous sound. Not all are interested in 0-90 in 5. But i liked the video anyway. thumbs up.
I love TR6's...have had 2 over the years. But...no way you can outhandle a Lotus 7. Now if by Super 7, you mean the original car with less than 1600cc that couldn't exceed 100 mph...then yeah, on a road course with some long straights you could win. But turn for turn...there is just no way 2250 lb car can handle as well as a 1300 lb car, even if it weren't a Lotus...and it is.
Hey guys... just wondering if you put that smallblock Ford V8 into a new Mustang, would it be better than the regular 6 cyl or the 4 cyl turbo? I always love the sound and pulling power of a V8. On another note, I was wondering if you have a recent Subaru STI and put the body skin of a TR6, I think it will be reliable and radical resto mod. The question is, how much will it cost?
@Easytiger007 I have not bin beat yet super 7 can turn but so can I every road coarse I have run has straightaways connecting the turns it just takes balls to drive you find what a car can with blue lights behind you
Very Nice Car and Engine replacement. Anyone who thinks a 2250lb car with the low center of gravity, powerful engine and suspension setup your's has could not beat a Super 7 does not understand engineering and physics. I have a '73 and a '74 TR6 and would love to modify one with a V8. Sooo Many Questions...
If you have a TR6 you would know that you would have to replace just about everything but the body panels to beat a Super 7; the standard gearbox, brakes, rear suspension and diff would all have to go.
Not much point really, sounds great but losing its pedigree with a different engine and running gear, if looking for speed 0-90 an electric set up is faster...God forbid
