One of the things I absolutely love about this song is that he gives the Confederate soldiers a positive mention.

Dev Kimbro Probably best comment of the year! The liberal PC media has put our history and our flag through complete hell the last few years and me personally..I'm tired of it! We are a decent God-fearing people and adore our country...proof?? Southern boys (and ladies) consistently make-up the majority of those serving in our military forces. We've made our mistakes and we've paid in blood... So, most kindly...get off our graves!

I have the deepest respect for the Confederate soldiers and what they fought for: to be left alone from what was (at the time,) a foreign aggressor. Slavery had little to nothing to do with the South fighting the war. The soldiers weren't fighting for slaves, they were fighting for their brothers-in-arms fighting alongside them and for their families and home states. But the PC left media and white-supremacist groups have stained their names and desecrated the beautiful banner of the Army of Northern Virginia that many people call them the enemy and traitors. I appreciate men like Trace Adkins that still honor those soldiers. They deserve as much respect and honor as the Union soldiers do. Except Sherman and his march on Georgia, and Lincoln on instigating the war on the South.

I love the sense of patriotism in country music. I don't understand people who disrespect someone who sacrifices their life for their country and fellow citizens

Mental (and emotional) disorder IMO. And if they'll disrespect someone in those shoes, imagine how easily they'll disrespect everyone else.
@1949crewchief
@1949crewchief 4 года назад
They hate themselves. They loathe others who have the sense of duty honor and courage to feed the tree of liberties roots. Why? Because they are cowards who want to disrespect others in hopes they can be verified by other cowards so they dont feel ashamed.

I am from Germany. My 7th grad granduncle served for Lousianna at the civil war. I served 12 years as a germany military policemen. At Bosnia, Kosovo, Lybia, Afghanistan and the Ivory Coast. Every soldier was a brother to me. German, US, Canadian etc. As I listened to this song the first time, yes, I cried. Today, after heard it douzend times, my eyes still get wet.

Most country singers are small town boys & girls who are deeply patriotic, and it shows in their music. Did you notice that Trace removed his hat and saluted the West Point Glee Club? Great song! I'm not ashamed to say that I listened to this song with tears. I come from a small town in the Deep South. About 2 1/2 years ago I was honored to be a pallbearer at the funeral of my cousin who was buried with full military honors. As Taps began we pallbearers placed our right hands over our hearts, and those gathered followed. I looked across the way and saw my six-year-old nephew, Holden, standing tall with hand over heart, and I was overcome with emotion. Even at that young age, here in Mississippi, you begin to learn about patriotism!

@@RockN2Country thank you for doing this song. I am a recently retired 20 year veteran and my husband a vet as well (and he's commonly called Traces voice double LoL), and there are no greater heroes than our military, police and first responders. Trace is a hero as well for always showing the love and respect for those on the front lines, I don't think there's a song he does that doesn't bring a tear to my eyes. Jose, my deepest honor, respect and sympathy to you brother. On a lighter note, I found a great job with a pay raise as well! I guess things work out for a reason. I would love to hear "Southside of heaven" by Ryan Bingham as a celebratory song one time, it's my favorite song ever.

“ I waited in the blood of Omaha’s shores “ that shoots chills down my spine. I couldn’t imagine what those young men had to do deal with.. my grandpa fought in the battle of the bulge and received the Purple Heart and 2 bronze stars for his service. My aunt told me a story that him and a few other men snuck behind German lines and killed a few German waffen ss soldiers and snuck back to American lines without being caught

Camden Henry I am honestly not sure. My grandpa passed away when I was maybe a year or so old, and my uncle wrote down all of his records and stuff. But I am trying to get ahold of them so I can be able to find more about it. But something I do know for a fact is he was injured by a German grenade that exploded and he got shrapnel in his arm so he ended up having to go to a hospital in France and George s Patton actually came in and spoke to him and he played a game of checkers with him while he was recovering, I know it really sounds hard to believe but I can promise you I am not telling lies or anything. But I will get back to you when I find more info about what he did

The Wounded Warrior is a program meant to help soldiers who returned from deployment with visible and invisible scars and this program is meant to help them with whatever it is they need. My Veteran Canadian husband and myself met those involved in the Wounded Warriors in Canada and all were such a great bunch. My pride and gratitude knows no bounds for the soldiers who have served, are serving or plan to serve. Semper Fi. This video as it is very emotional, especially with the montage behind him and the West Point Glee Club Performance. Thank you for your reaction.

This is the first time I have really watched and listen to this song. It has taken me a min. or so, everyday I question why am I here and breathing and not the men and women I know died in combat. Was it just plain damn luck, Iraq SUCKED, but I volunteered and swore an oath. So if this is my penance, I will endure, if the nightmares just slow up a bit.
@RockN2Country
@RockN2Country 5 лет назад
@Gerald Stanley Thanks for posting that here, my friend, and thank you for your service, as hard as the aftermath is. As beautiful as we can be toward each other in life on this earth, some things go so wrong that we end up doing horrendous things. I'm sorry you're dealing with the harsh side of it. As for your combat mates, you were all on the same playing field with the same risks, and as life had it, you, and many of your mates, came home. Believe it or not, and I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here, but you're allowed to enjoy that. Anyone who has life in him or her is allowed to enjoy whatever moments they have here on earth, and find meaning in it. And on a simple note, I am glad you're here. I love reading the comments and meeting new folks, so welcome aboard and feel free to share whenever you want!!

While the Wounded Warrior charity is still a "decent" place to donate, there are much better ones. WWP is now spending 40% of its donations on fundraising and large executive salaries :-( Even the untouchable DAV has dropped to 50% of the amount of your money actually used to help veterans. Some watchdog agency have figured out how they do this while claiming on their taxes to give 97%. The DAV organization is actually a trust that only gives money to less scrupulous groups. It's a way to hide large CEO salaries and basically launder money. I would highly recommend checking with your most trusted charity watch dog site before donating...there are some really good ones out there that are actually helping our heroes instead of just sending out guilt-inducing calendars, tote bags, and address labels!

Well spoken DON Yes it does mean 10. You do such a super job telling about and talking about the videos it's 1 of the reason you stand out from other RU-vidrs. I could feel the emotions coming from your voice at the end. You got a great soft heart my friend. It brought back memories of a young man I meet I was working in probation at the time. Long story I became a mentor to him He adopted me as his older brother his words. He became a combat medic with a calvary unit and saw action all over the middle east. He suffered many breakdowns once he came home. 13, Feb 2013 he completed suicide because of the demons that followed him home. I wear a tattoo in his honor. DON please keep doing what you do your getting better all the time. You represent country music very well. ** here is a song for you and you can react to it if you want to. Sincere reaction...thank you for reminding people what having empathy looks like. :-) Though Trace is a Nashville fixture, I completely give him a pass. Toby Keith is another artist I respect alot due to his support of the military and American values. I know your request list is really long but I'd really like to get your thoughts on "Rebel Soldier" by Jamey Johnson. I believe it was originally by Waylon but it hits home when Jamey does it. Probably because he's actually a veteran (served 8 yrs in the Corps). The song usually brings a tear to my eye and I'm curious what kind of impact it has on someone from north of the Mason-Dixon.

As a veteran of both Afghanistan and Iraq there are no shortage of patriotic songs that make me cringe. This is not one of them however. It hits on the connection you feel to those who came before you and had the same sense of duty that we did. They just weren't lucky enough to make it home. It makes me think of my buddies that gave their all for us when we were deployed, and those who lost the fight once we got back. As always thank you for your reactions. Trace has done well with this song and "Arlington" in my eyes. Both get to me. Hope you're doing well during all this madness boss. I watched this review when it came out.
