Slavery was "normal " in feudal Indonesia. The VOC was a "multinational" .It's goal trade. It could operate onley with the participation or collaboration with the feudal local leaders. It ended about 1795 ,the occupation of the region Netherlands by France. WIC started in the 80 yaers of war with Spain in 1621, goal piracy and trade ,gold ivory and slaves for the plantage owners in the New World. It went several time bankrupt it ended also in 1795. The slave trade was done in participation with the African rullers. The WIC , the city Amsterdam and a wealthy family rulled the Plantage economy in Suriname after the english traded this for New York.
