Tracey Ullman a National Treasure'? One quarter of a TV show and 2 Top-10 singles, then she fucks off to the USA as soon as she could get a contract. For the next 30+ years she did nothing other than a short-lived show that was only memorable for introducing The Simpsons, and playing Ally McBeal's shrink.
OMG! Why have I just discovered this? Tracey Ullman is absolutely brilliant at this! The voices are spot on and the characterisation is immaculate. Britain needs Tracey Ullman back!
I don't know how many times Tracey must have practiced to get it just right, but she absolutely NAILED that signature way in which Dame Judi Dench flings dog poo at trees!
@Carol Mortensen It seems during an award-ceremony, (I don't know the details, I'm sorry) Dame Judi Dench walked on stage and said; 'Hello everyone, I'm Tracey Ullman, thank you for this award- etc.' She sortof reversed it. And I believe she made a joke about 'stealing' as well, during a show or awarding-ceremony. She likes what Tracey made :)
@@lordeden2732 I don't think so - "I love it. I dote on it. But I get into trouble now if I go into a shop with a bag over my arm." Ullman is "brilliant", the actress said - but joked that the sketches in the BBC One comedy show have caused problems. "It's tricky, people look at me in a funny way," she said, adding: "A man came up to me in M&S the other day and said to me, 'I've got my eye on you'."
thank you so much for posting. I so needed a "gut" busting laugh today to raise my spirit, and suffice it to say my spirit is soaring right now.........!
My goodness she has an INSANE! resemblance to Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, she could easily pass for them anytime. I remember Tracey from the early days back the 80's and i had forgotten just how INSANELY! good she was, voice and resemblance is incredibly good especially Judi
Tracey Ullman is an exceptional impersonator. Both Judi and Maggie were absolutely spot on. The writing for this series was never quite as laugh out loud funny as I’d hoped, a shame when Tracey is so incredibly good.
I wish Tracey had never gone to the USA! I hated her American shows. She was great in 3 of a kind in the 1980s and she's great in this! She's a bit of a national treasure herself!
I remember watching this when it was first out, but what I find impressive it his how much she looks and sounds like the people she's imitating,... it's amazing...
Wow, she really had Dame Judi Dench's voice and intonation as well as mannerisms down to a tee. When she was being interrogated and listing all of the roles she has played, I got so engrossed in Dame Judi Dench that I started to think, "the actor playing the policeman is so lucky to be acting with Dame Judi... - wait! That's Tracey Ullman!". I love the way that the desk constable called Dame Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton! Hilarious!!
I don't know how old you are but I'm in my 20s and only my parents used to talk about her... now I'm so glad she's come back to the UK I can see why they loved her
She was in a show called 3 Of a Kind. A comedy sketch show with Lenny Henry, and David Copperfield back in the eighties. Then that ended and she moved to America
Wendy Craig used to say very much the same sort of thing when she used to park her car in front of a fire exit where I worked. When someone said you can’t park your car here, she literally said ‘Don’t you know who I am? I’m Wendy Craig.’
I thought that WAS Judi Dench and Tracy Ullman was going to be playing some other part in this - until I started to read the comments. And I love the name of the dog - Coriolanus.
