And we are examining the difference between a lived experience us young people can only know so much because we can hear about it. But we weren't there it's like someone can understand how it is to be black they may understand from a point of talking but a lived experience is different. @@original1stmother btw, Tracie Spencer actually 14 when this song hit the radio airs in 1990, and she had other hits like Love Me and This House off her 2nd album Make The Difference and a couple classic tunes back in 1999 called It's All About You Not About Me, and particularly Still In My Heart, not sure how young or old you are, yet you can't lie on Tracie, because she was never a 1 hit wonder

I miss the 80s and the early to mid 90s music. Music after the mid 90s weren't the best song, because music started changing up. They were still good tho.

Damn. I was born in '91. Back in the day when I was a baby, my auntie said when I would cry and nothing would help(not even a bottle of milk) she would play this song, THEN I would stop crying. What's crazy too is years later around jr high I heard this song come on and I just instantly knew all the words. I was tripping like how the hell did I know the words already. When it came on it was just hella familiar, that it was just imprinted in my brain hahaha the words came out hella naturally 💚

Dick Clark said music was the ultimate time machine because it instantly takes you back to what you were doing when you heard certain songs. This transports me back to my junior year in high school working part time at Panchos Mexican buffet. I use to walk to work wearing headphones and heard this every weekend. I also, like most Gen Xers, use to sleep with the radio on with a tape in ready to record The Quiet Storm radio jams. Great memories!!

Phenomenal singers do not have to come on stage half naked and gyrate for the world to see.
