Take one day at a time! Do this again each day! I am sending my wishes for total healing and recovery. Be safe and sound this holiday season. From southern Colorado!🙏🇺🇸⭐️

Prayers for every single person affected by these storms and violent tornadoes. Prayers for healing and they're safety while they grieve and rebuild. I hope everyone gets a safe place to go to during tornadoes to keep them and they're family members safe including they're dogs and cats. Big companies like Walmart and Target and Costco should donate to organizations like red cross that help those affected by the storms and tornados. So many lost they're lives I think it is horrible. I live 25 miles north of Mayfield and as I was watching the news and watching the storm develop into this monster that it became. I went to mayfield to see the damage cuz I’d love to be a storm chaser and meteorologist and I’ve never got the chance to do that but the pics and videos really don’t do the devastation justice. The devastation that’s in Mayfield is catastrophic and as I was watching the news and they were starting to put out tornado warnings with catastrophic tags on them that it was gonna be bad then they showed the tornado warning with the catastrophic tag for the center of mayfield and I started seeing people on my Facebook sharing peoples lives that were stuck in the candle factory asking for help

@kenc1000
@kenc1000 2 года назад
One problem, friend. My state is way better than Kentucky as are more than half of all states. My state doesn’t need to look to Kentucky as an example. You’re trying to congratulate Kentucky for doing the bare minimum that is expected in a natural disaster…which they are not doing by themselves. The Federal Government is footing the bill here. Trust me, NO ONE needs to or ever will look to Kentucky as an example for anything. Well, we can look to them as a perfect example of a welfare state, so we can make sure we don’t do that.
@candirenee74
@candirenee74 2 года назад
@@kenc1000 Wow. Your lack of compassion for human life and emergency responses in 1 particular state is repulsive. Simply because it’s KENTUCKY. While other states were affected and lives lost, Kentucky suffered the MOST this day. Our governor (and I don’t agree with him on many things, ) sprung into action and got a Federal declaration as soon as he could, and the President signed it. While the State of Emergency allows Federal funds and assets to come in quicker, they are not the only source of assistance. MANY, and I mean MANY Kentucky residents and Businesses sprung into action as soon as they could. For example, there was a huge group of food truck operators who went down to provide feee hot meals who needed them. Not only that, there were people (not having a lot themselves), who showed up with a grill and food just to help. I’m about 2 hours away from Mayfield if you go North East. In fact, our little town was on the news as a direct hit. The emergency broadcast system said this was a “life threatening situation” and to seek shelter immediately. In all my years I’ve never seen the EBS send out a tornado warning that included “life threatening tornado” as part of the warning. Since the tornado had been on the ground for so long, along with radar, we had at least 30 minutes of advanced notification. We were SO lucky as the twister picked up right before it reached county, moved over us; then dropped back down after moving over us and our county I don’t know where you are from, but from what you said In you comments, “NO ONE should look to Kentucky” (implying that Kentucky is not a good example for anything). As if we can’t come up with good ideas. It’s our PEOPLE who are the true heroes. I know some people in our area still going to affected areas to see what is needed.

And please don’t forget that wasn’t the only tornado in the state that day. Bowling Green was literally cut in half by 3 tornadoes with another New Year’s Day and lost 20 people people that night sadly several entire families on a single street. Many other counties and communities were affected and even on google maps or apple gps say view u can still clearly see the scar it left with houses still waiting to be torn down.

Still curious if hobbit hole-like houses could survive tornadoes. Or just some other design than perpendicular walls that catches the wind.
@takumi2023
@takumi2023 2 года назад
Kinda, similar to hurricane house. There was a story about this a few years back. They build a hurricane resistant house and a hurricane went through the neighborhood and it survived while nothing else did. The issue was the cost of building the house was 3-5 times the cost of constructing a normal house. I'm sure there are researchers and engineers out there that already have an idea what makes a good house against tornado is. But the issue cost. Fast wind flowing over the roof creates lift like an airplane. And houses which are mainly empty air can get sucked up. Then you have loose debris to worry about.

As someone who lived though the EF-3 in Jonesboro Arkansas, with "minor" damage about 50k to the house and 15k to my truck, it's not the government that helps you after devastation like this, it's regular people. No one died despite the tornado starting in basically the center of town and hitting multiple subdivisions, it even hit the mall, I have what might be the last video ever in the mall, it shut down due to covid like 2 days before the tornado hit, I have video's inside the mall the day before it closed, with not a soul in it pretty much other than me and workers. Even as far as charities they were "here" a guy from the red cross threw me a can of bush water "I saved it probably worth more to me that way" as I had running water. Regular people helped each other tarp roofs and helped people clean up, it wasn't the government, they passed some sort of disaster bill for the tornado, but oddly enough I think 90% of the money went to government buildings that were damaged "Wiped a post office and badly damaged the air port" the other 10% of "aid" i'm pretty sure went to a tax deduction, I think I got a 500$ tax break for being affected by a natural disaster. I already can tell you what people in mayfield are going through. If the house was a complete loss the insurance pays the cost of the house "original purchase price" in most cases, and especially since the boom in the estate market this is likely 50% less than what current market value is for the houses people had. If someone had a total loss vehicle they paid the deductible and got paid whatever the "fair market value" was for their vehicle, I've heard insurance companies are ignoring the huge price increase of used vehicles so probably no where near what they had was worth. To put it in prospective, my house was 1 year old, I had to get a new roof and some new windows, and a new HVAC unit. Insurance pays upon deprecation, a regular shingle roof is considered to last 15 years, no matter the quality of shingles you had, so I paid my 1k deductible then had to argue with my insurance company that Yes the 6ft hole on the right side of my roof, the 6 foot hole on the left side of my roof, and the multiple other 1ft holes all around my roof justified a new roof, it went to the point that they tried blaming my builder for "not installing the roof correctly" to where he called my insurance company and said "Yes every roof beside this house was blown clean off I think I did a good job" as for my truck, I paid 1k deductible and they didn't fight over the 15k repair bill. At the end of the day I was out like 3k between deductibles and 1 year of deprecation on what was replaced on my house. Trust me the government does 0 after a tornado, it's regular ass people and local companies that lead the recovery.

@@Monsiemage , I totally believe you even though I’ve never been in such an unfortunate and devastating situation. What pisses me off is that the government has the money to get things done. From what I've read, the USA is the only place on earth that has regular tornado seasons. Tornadoes rarely happen on other continents.
@653j521
@653j521 2 года назад
It happens now and then. You can look up famous tornado outbreaks and see they when occurred. If you live in the middle of the country, you know that tornadoes happen. Oklahoma has the most tornadoes but as it is dry and largely rural, the small tornadoes rarely make the national news. In wetter areas the tornadoes tend to be larger and as these areas tend to have more people, the destruction is all over the news. There are of course exceptions such as when a small town in, say, Kansas is wiped out. Now, hurricanes might be getting worse and the season is running longer as the temperature of the oceans rises, because warm water feeds them. If you are worried, read up on reputable websites and learn the truth on what is happening and what you can do to be safe. We are a large country so we experience everything nature throws at humans. Remember that humans are resilient and after every disaster anywhere in the world they grieve and they rebuild, a lot better if at all possible.

The heart of Tornado Alley includes parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and South Dakota. Kentucky is not technically in Tornado Alley. However, tornadoes are the one natural disaster which can occur in ANY state, under the right conditions.

This just the beginning of woes in America. As a citizen of this great country, I know and understand the punishment that must occur in the near future because of our falling away from the Most High and the sadness this country have brought to others.

They gave it an EF4 rating. Although, I believe it has the merit to earn an EF5. But I obviously don’t work for the NWS and they have a strict set of bullet points to follow when rating.

While we get tornadoes in KY, they were never as powerful as ones in OKlahoma. So a basement was considered safe. Storm shelters are mostly seen in Tornado Alley. Many are poor and wouldn’t be able to build them. This is a lot easier to say than so. It had been my plant I’d have sent everyone home. There are designed area for shelter but we can all see no matter nothing would protect. You’re correct. Life over a job. Probably didn’t think it’s be as bad as they said. So sad
