What confuses me is that summing stacks seem to be involved at two stages. Not only do they handle audio coming OUT of the sub-tracks, but they can also hold MIDI that is going INTO the software instruments in the stack. I’m guessing that this is the big difference between using a summing stack and simply routing your tracks into an aux?
Hey, great point and is indeed the difference between a simple aux track and a track stack. Track stacks often confuse a lot of my students I find, because of this dual purpose. They are nifty once you get used to them though. I miss them in some of the other DAWs I use.
