Thank you soooo much. I have only loosely tracked my expenses up to this point because I get overwhelmed by all the debits and credits, etc. You made this so simple and easy to follow along. Thank you, thank you!

This was definitely super helpful info. I hv legit been wanting to start my POD shop since last July but I’ve put it off every time bcs I cringe just thinking about how to figure out taxes. I’ve used quickbooks in the past and had an awful experience with them but the 2nd way seems easy enough especially adding extra expenses & doing the calculations at the end. Again thanks so much for taking the time to do this…much appreciated!!

Jeff, thanks again for a great video. I am a rookie and don’t have profits to track yet. However, I have a question regarding pricing. Do you set your pricing in Printify and then publish to Etsy or do you set your pricing after the product has been published to Etsy? I’ve been doing group listings and have been using the “Hide in store” option so the Printify price doesn’t push to Etsy so have to do double work once the Etsy listing is published. Just wondering how you would handle this. Thanks for always responding to my questions. You are the best RU-vidr because I can always rely on your answers. Thanks!

Great video. I’ll preface this the same as the other comments- I know you’re not a tax expert, but thought you might know the answer. I’m into Etsy 7 months now and my expenses exceed my revenue by quite a bit 😞. I’m hoping Q4 will help, but what if it doesn’t and I’m showing a loss at the end of the year? I have an LLC. Do I still have to file taxes? I’m sure my accountant will give me advice, but I can’t be the only one whose not making any $.

Hi! I'm pretty sure that the LLC has to file a tax return even if there is no taxable income. You basically have to prove that there is no tax owed by filing the return. You may also be able to carry over losses into the next tax year if you end the year at a loss (that would be a question to ask your accountant for sure). I hope it turns around for you though!

Do you recommend the bundles when just starting out of just QBSE?

Hi! I still use just the self employed product standalone. I've paid for turbotax small business separately with my personal email account the last couple of years and didn't bundle them, but you certainly could do that if you don't mind being kind of locked into turbo tax.

There's a line item called "Card Payment" on mine -- I think this is when my credit card got charged for the fees. Shall I delete this line or does it have to be included?

Loved this video! How many listing does it normally take to start generating full-time income on Etsy?Going into 2023, I feel being successful on Etsy will be purely a numbers game( quantity + quality) and superior digital marketing skills with the amount of sellers joining every month in practically the same niches and using the same research tools(erank,everbee,sales samurai etc.) so I am curious to know your thoughts on this, thanks.

i saw some vids from you and one thing i noticed is, you always using this etsy calculator for the price, but where is youre VAT?? thats around 20% for most EU countries, or are u just selling in the US?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! About 90% of my sales come from the US. I also sell in Canada, the UK, and Australia, but I removed all other countries from my shipping profiles. I am charged VAT for orders in those 3 countries, but I handle that by increasing the shipping charge for only those countries. That way the VAT cost is covered without changing the product price which would impact my US sales.

I have questions for you man, I know that you're not a tax advisor, just to start off. LOL. Anyway, I have Quickbooks Online integrated with Etsy. I use Printify as my POD provider. At the end of this year, does Quickbooks total up the profits and expenses & tells me the number to put for my taxes? Or would Etsy send me a tax form with the numbers to put into my tax form next year? I'm new and I don't want to mess up on my first year of taxes for my store. Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated. 🙂

Hi! Etsy will send you a tax reporting form (and report it to the IRS) if you're over the threshold for it to be required. Quickbooks will keep track of all the revenue and fees from Etsy, and you can either input your order fulfillment expenses manually into Quickbooks or just link the account you use to pay for order fulfillment and the transactions will import automatically. Quickbooks will provide a summary tax report that breaks down your expenses by category so that you can fill out your taxes by category. The only trick is that sometimes the amount of revenue reported by Etsy to the IRS may not exactly match what Quickbooks has calculated as your total revenue for the year. I believe this is due to the way they document cancelled/refunded orders (maybe...that's just a guess). I personally just make the revenue match what Etsy reported if Quickbooks is lower because I don't want an issue with the IRS since they already have the number from Etsy. The expenses unfortunately are not just a single entry on your tax return, you do have to report them by category. But I think most tax software helps you through it - I use turbotax which isn't the best thing ever but it's pretty easy to follow where to enter each type of expense. The biggest expense, order fulfillment, goes under "materials & supplies" because that's the closest thing. It does not go under inventory because there is no real inventory in our possession and inventory is handled differently for tax purposes. After that category, most others are smaller (advertising, listing fees, etc.). Quickbooks gives you all those by category on the summary report plus you can always search your transactions by category to see the total too. I hope that helps!
