I grew up hunting the Adirondacks. My Great, Great Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Grandfather on my mom’s side of the family were all guides. Tracking is the best way to kill a nice buck up there. Thanks for sharing your history. 👍

Nice to hear you talk about your first tracking buck. I think it's helpful for hunters who assume you are a natural.

Hi Cory! Def not a natural, it took a lot of learning, practice and mistakes. Still learning more every hunt!

Great recap on your first tracking buck, looks like a great ADK spot, I’ve hunted a northern region for the last 25 years and we are lucky to find a track every 10-15 miles. Tough location any buck in the ADK is a great buck! Nice video
@jeff_doyle
@jeff_doyle Год назад
In those remote ADK spots tracks can be hard to come by, but in this area it’s a mix of hills and some agricultural and the deer numbers can be pretty high. The buck to doe ratio is out of whack but it’s always fun to see some deer.

Great story about your first buck, my son got his first deer (spike) last year at age 14. He was using my old 30-30 lever action with open sights. I thought he missed but sure enough the deer only went 30 yards and was down.

I met your dad almost 20 years ago on a remote ridge in the Adirondacks that was covered in big buck sign. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Wow, what a compliment and coincidence. On the way home from the next episode he told me the story of meeting you on top of that same mountain. You’ll recognize some of that area.

I saw 👀 five different spike this morning didn't see any large buck tracks . Back home warming up now 7 degrees this am. going back out and sit for late afternoon hunt, going to watch a heavy used trail that follows the toe of the steep slope around the entire east side of the mountain I can also see over 200 yards up the Mt. This trail is one that all the animals use deer, bear, fox, coyotes and lots of fisher's, my nephew got a nice 6 opening morning in this spot around 9 he texted me telling me what he got I told him to wait for me before he started dragging it out when I got there my nephew was standing 20 ft from the buck as I walked up we both saw a giant fisher following the buck track down the Mt when the fisher saw the buck it ran down the hill and jumped on the dead bucks back 😀 we had around a foot of fresh snow it was really cool 😎 watching that fisher plow threw the snow coming down the Mt. As soon as we started walking towards the buck the fisher ran back up the Mt.

@@jeff_doyle yesterday I saw more deer than the entire season. This cold spell finally got the deer moving between 3 and dark, first three deer were spikes with little sticker points on them than 22 doe in small groups starting slowly walking off the Mt before dark 5 more buck walked past me 2 were big buck but lost their antlers 2 were spikes and one was a legal 5 but way to small to shoot, but it was nice to see how many deer made it lots of buck for next year. Yesterday was the first time all season that I noticed the deer finally herding up..
@Superbowfin60

@@jeff_doyle just got back home I followed the tracks of all the deer I saw yesterday they walked off the Mt around my house down to an acre turnip field I planted over the summer they ate the tops early but yesterday was the first time they hit it all season they really tore that field up .

I have that same camera mounted to the stabilizer on my bow .it turns it self off when I stay still four over 15 minis .and it makes a bling bling noise every time I turn it back on .3 times this year just before I drew back my bow to make a kill the camera turned off ,only once did I get the kill on video .2 of the deer dropped in there tracks. on the last day of nh gun season I shot a doe 14 yards from the bottom of my tree it took 2 steps and fell over the arrow was a hart shot I still don't know why it did not run away . not on video . again in MA as I drew back the deer put its necking in front of its heart to lick itself I tried to shoot it through its neck and through its heart .the deer jumped the string and I shot it in head and it dropped in its tracks again not on video .I got some great footage of these deer just before the shots . looks like you are passing on filling your freezer. good luck great video again

@jeff_doyle Год назад
Hi Jim, for the camera you should be able to set the sound to off. The downside I’ve found is the shutter automatically closes and opens when it’s powered on or off and that’s pretty noisy for bow hunting. Congratulations on your deer, sounds like some wild hunts!
