Tracking Adjustment On Hustler Raptor SD..... 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the bottom adjustment would only work for handle leveling and not for speed or tracking right? I just tried that yesterday and what you wind up with is some seriously offset handles. That's the whole reason I came looking for you. I got my answer in a minute and now both fixed in 5. Great vid.

Oh man dude I broke a couple brackets I ended up getting the upgraded bracket which works really well I have a harbor freight welder and that fixed it up a couple times enjoy my brother.

@@577buttfan I love that mower. Is so bad to the bone. I messed around and cut the neighbors yards to no appreciation. We live and learn. It is that bad. I broke the whole mower apart to find the broken bracket. The transmission belt kelp coming off. Hope this info helps someone with the same problem. My advice is don't go out of your way to help unappreciative neighbors.lol Thanks 577!!!

No prob,after 300 hours or so the holes in the hydro plates get elongated from the rod pin and cause slop.You can remove them and beat the hole slightly shut with a ball peen hammer and that will tighten them up for another few hundred hours :)

Just go small at first..half turn.

Oh yeah,the tracking issues are due to wear and tear on all the pivot points especially where the rod connects to the pump plate,that hole gets bigger and the pin gets smaller..good observation my friend :)

Oh yeah you don't need to re move the wheels just get a 13 mm wrench in their very simple.. pushing the handles all the way forward makes it easier.

Dont go anymore than half turn at a time..the adjustment is very sensitive.

@@pablocruze9307 I would see if it has any up and down play.Maybe you can shoot some lithium grease in there with a small hose.

@@577buttfan I did put some grease in where the wheel hub meets the hydro drive. I'll check for movement and I will also see if I can record the actual noise. It only happens when in motion...thanks.

You can make sure your pump lever goes all the way..I had to grind a little metal off the yellow frame so the bars would go farther without hitting.Also make sure your engine rpm is set to 3600 I believe.

I'm not sure but I had to eventually grind away part of the frame so I could get full forward and reverse deflection at pumps.

My handles are closer than I thought at full forward position,But the rod adjustment at the Hydros as you showed how to adjust are no where near adjusted evenly...So will tinker with those a half turn at a time tomorrow well the right side since its tracking slightly to the right...Thanks Bro@@577buttfan

same with me. there’s no way to get a wrench on the front nut. what are we missing?

My bars where hitting the frame not letting me go to full speed so I used my 4"angle grinder and removed some material from the frame where they hit now i have full travel again,Its only a mower,grind it and paint :).

@@isaiahsmith5397 what the fuck are you talking about I have 500 hours on this mower and it works fine.. mine has no stops the frame was getting in the way from allowing full travel on the pumps so the valves were not opening all the way and it was running slower than it was when it was new.

I'm not familiar with that mower but you should have a similar adjustment back by the pump and also where the rod connects to the control handle.Check it out and let me know what you find bro.

Bullshit!! If you only go half a turn either way it works perfect!!Use a little common sense so you dont go too far and make the machine creep. Been doing it for years and aint about to stop cause some manual says so. Do what works for you and Ill do what works for me. Thanks for watching!!Make a video showing us the right way then!!

@@rackemwells No problem man you didnt trigger me..I know about the 2 cap screws for the lever stops but too make a quick adjustment on the fly the way i show works great as long as your not creeping.After time all the components wear out and you get slop in the linkage so either way will work.

@@577buttfan Can’t argue there… My 42” raptor is on its 5th season and I only cut 3/4 acre but already have quite a bit of slop in lots of the linkage and my right side parking brake is broken. I’m happy with the Hustler in general, def wish it was a little more stout though…

I have over a thousand hours on my first SD and after 600 hours I had to grind part of the frame away so the controls would deflect the pumps to full operating speed both ways.You could replace all the steering parts or just do what works so you can get stuff done.

So just to confirm, if veering left loosen nut on back as if u are trying to remove the nut from bar and turn nut on front in direction towards the inside of mower (clockwise as if viewed from the back of the mower) which would move the front nut further down the rod in the direction towards the front of the mower and then retighten the back nut? Overall makes sense just want to clarify before do it. Don't quite understand point of loosening back nut to begin with since the front nut will be going in opposite direction as back one unless I am misunderstanding something (which is probably the case)

Or is it u are dping the clockwise counterclockwise from different ends on viewpoint and you are ringing both screws towards the back end of the mower as if u kept going it would take them off

K, think I got it u either move both screws towards end of rod towards back of mower in same direction (to address veering left) or thread them further down towards opposite direction towards from of mower, correct?

It still has a few mm doesn't take much...but if your plate is hitting the Allen head then yeah either slow down this side or speed up the other.

The Raptor SD has no grease fittings that i found at all so Im not sure what machine you are referring too?

You have too bleed the whole system man,sounds like air. I have another video showing how.

so this is second hand and the overflow plug is like a hex key but is stripped, any other way i can do this if i cant get that off?

@@TheLankyWoodsman if the pumps are tied together you can try to just use one over flow make sure you get close to 4 quarts in both and bleed them well..no promises..without getting that overflow bolt out gunna be lots of air.

Sounds like you have another issue if the mower wont move at all,i think your hydro lock valve might be pulled out,not sure though? A minor adjustment on that tracking nut will not effect the mower from not moving at all,you just go 1/2 turn in the direction shown in video. If the mower tracks to the left on level surface you want to slow down the Right pump a hair by screwing the front nut toward the front of the mower on right side,same goes for right,if mower tracks right you have to slow down the left pump :) Also whenever you move a nut you have to tighten the rear nut back up to lock everything in place..hope that makes sense.

Its hard to say but if you watch my hustler hydro pump service video I show you exactly where they are,and they would need to be unhooked and pushed in. Hope that helps.

What is the lever with the ring loop next to the steering rod and do they need to be pushed in or pulled out?

Allison Basden that's them they need to be pushed in but you have you pull them out hard and un hook first then push in😁

No!!! Very dangerous.The pump cooling fan can cut your finger off..never work on a mower while it's running!!!

why would u want to do this adjustment while the mower is running?

There's a bolt on the bottom of each stick in the front where you can adjust the position of the sticks that does not affect the tracking check it out.

@@577buttfan i know and the left stick is as far back as it can go in the slot and right stick is is far forward it can go i complain to the dealer since i got machine

@@warrenmayfield3160 just go in very Small increments like quarter or half turn at a time,a little usually goes a long way.

Mine has threads on each end of the rod. I have turned it about a full turn to me and it still hasn’t helped. When do you decide you need to go to the other side and slo it down.

@@warrenmayfield3160 will you have to make sure that the hydro arm isn't moving anymore and it's all the way at its farthest position and when that's the case then you can go over to the other side and slow it down I would assume good luck
