Tropical Depression 14 has formed in the Gulf and is expected to quickly intensify and be at or near hurricane strength when it reaches the west coast of Florida.
Going to the last century 4 hurricanes hit Tampa directly as i recall they all came from the same place as this one that is forming. Feel free to fact check me because I am not at all 100% sure .One thing i found is a map of the water temperature to day....Edit; Right now I can only find a Cat 4 in 1884 and a Cat 3 in 1921.
Yes, the warm gulf waters are the perfect juice for those TDs to turn into hurricanes, that TD could very well become even a cat 1-2 and perhaps 3 hurricane before makig landfall in southeast Florida, I hope that won`t be the case though, but unfortunately with similar scenarios, I ve seen it before happening here in MIami, rgs
Helene put 4 feet of storm surge in my garage. Car totaled. Prayers for everyone. Agree it could be stronger. Some say Cat 3. Tampa Bay could see another storm surge.
