In this video I show players how to analyze their swing path and club face data. I also provide set up changes that can be made to offset swing path deficiencies
Randall this is GREAT to hear! So glad this was able to help you out. Enjoy the season and let me know if I can offer anything else to help out your game!
Maybe worth noting for beginners that “perfectly neutral” (path 0 // face 0) doesn’t need to be the goal for most players. A draw (e.g path +4 // face +2) or fade (e.g path -4 // face -2) may work as well, depending on where your natural club path lies. Rule of thumb for trackman that face degree should be half of path degree to draw/fade.
If I go and hit balls completely naturally without trying anything, do you think I should attempt to change my face to match my natural path or change my path to match my natural face? Or depends...
So you don't like Tiger's method? To hit a fade the face has to be left at impact with the path left of the face. To hit a draw the face has to be right of target at impact with the path right of that. To me it would make sense to aim the face left of target for a fade and right of target for a draw. While Nicklaus may have thought he was aiming face at the target we can't be sure he was. With the technology available today we can test that.
Great video thanks. Tell me, I’m left handed and trying to make sense of my numbers. Do they read the same as long as my launch monitor is set up for a left handed player?
You’re right! Angle of attack is an important data point as well. It has less to do with dispersion as path and face but can impact spin significantly, which can affect how much the ball curves. Thanks for tuning in!
Thats weird im new to golf a little slicey but more pushy than anything my clubface is open at impact. Im right handed so on the course i play my push by aiming left of the target that way my push goes towards the target. Which is kind of the opposite of what you are saying to do in this video. Iv never hit a right to left ball in my life 😅
If you are pushing is right and slicing, then your path is right and the clubface is open to your path. I’ve got a video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4b_buwnYu7c.htmlsi=e5_8bANcTIRWVcAq that could help you get a feel for the key face positions that’ll help you hit that draw! Thanks for tuning in!
Make sure you’re not rotating your right wrist clockwise at any point in the swing. Try a strong left hand with weak right hand and keep that opposite pressure through out the swing so the right wrist doesn’t turn the clubface open.
How is your screen setup so that it doesn’t move at impact? Is it tied down at the bottom? What type of screen? I’d like to have that kind of setup. Any information would be appreciated.
Andre Trackman installed our sims here. The entire screen is secured along all four sides. It’s attached to the structure that surrounds the entire hitting area. Thanks for watching!
Greg aiming the face left would close the face and create more likelihood of draws and hooks and the opposite is true for aiming face to the right. In general, aiming the face (I mentioned there’s a tolerance for each player) at you intended target while aligning your body where the ball should start is a pretty tried and true practice. Nicklaus said he would aim where he wanted the ball to start and open or close the face a little depending on what shape he wanted to hit. Same idea I think. Thanks for tuning in!
The numbers are relative to left and right. For instance, any path or face angle that is negative (ex. -1.2 deg) indicates 1.2 deg left of target line. A positive number (2.3 deg) indicates 2.3 deg right of target line. Trackman doesn’t recognize handedness, only relation to target
