This is the first campaign I've fully done, and the second one I've even played. I've watched your videos for a while now so I understand lines and mechanics on a fundamental level but the campaign taught me a lot about putting those fundamentals into practice. I got all AT's up until 13, but that 180 turn is crazy hard for me. There are a lot of pretty cool maps in this campaign, but I'd say 15, 20 and 22 are my favorites. Still working on the AT's as I write this, going for them all!
I'm brand new too, and I play on keyboard. I had no idea about action keys or author medals until after I got beat the campaign with gold everything LOL
Huge thanks from the Sleepers, you can't imagine how helpfull your content is as a Sleeping aid! Either Intentionally or Unintentionally, you are a Hero in this field. Really Enjoy listening to your Content.
I just downloaded the game a couple days ago and was so happy to get mostly gold in the first 10 maps and got 2 author times! Watching your playthrough I have much to learn still
I just got the game, and got through all maps up to red, the maps that are the hardest you pointed out with the action keys. Haven’t used them yet but starting to get better
Was going into this campaign blind today, got the no-slide on O3 but couldn't figure out how to survive that turn. Felt quite vindicated when I pulled this up and saw Wirtual struggling a little bit on that part too!
So I started playing TM about 4 days ago, and I've managed to get the first 14 Author Medals so far. I even hit a scuffed version of the 11 cut, which beat my pb without! I'm getting there, but I had a lot of trouble with the remaining maps during my initial discovery, so we'll see if I've improved enough to get all ATs. My favorite map so far from this campaign is easily 20, I really enjoy wet tires on wood, it's so intuitive to me. Reminds me a lot of drifting in NFS Carbon or just racing in general from Ridge Racer 6 (both pretty old games at this point). Started on kb, but quickly realized that would take forever to learn, so I'm on controller now. I may try to break out my old xbox 360 wheel (with force feedback) at some point, assuming I can get it working.
For the wet tires one instead of no sliding the first turn I slid and then snapped into a no slide as soon as possible. For the turn after you have to slide
I started actually playing maybe 3 days ago after watching you for ages, so I'm not going for author times (yet), but I'm sitting at 13 golds so far after 15 tracks finished. The hairpin at the beginning of 13 is killing me and that map specifically is showing me that I really suck at wood, but I figured ice sliding out well enough to gold 14.
Thank the Trackmania deities you had difficulties with 03! I didn't get AT after half an hour so I skipped it for now. No-slide was the trick I need...
I’m a new ish track mania player on console. This is the first campaign where I’ve gotten multiple author medals, I did it on tracks 2-5. I like that they are more doable for new players like me.
Two suggestions: - a map could be done were you drive underwate(at the bottom), still underwater(floating between bottom and surface) and hovering on the surface; - Villeneuve' Speed Challenge, the driving model may be hideous but you might enjoy it, and those futuristic CART cars promoted to top tier open wheel class(with little driving assists, because Jacques drove irl this way, in F1) had very neat designs despite cheap tricks like painted air intakes. You'd be the right streamer to make that game visible again.
Would be great if the maps that were trying to teach you stuff told you what they were trying to teach you. Its so hard to figure this stuff out when you're new.
i didnt play trackmania for ages, and never was i competitive. My goal is to beat every time you set in this video. 01-05 already done, thanks for the tips and tricks.
about the easy-hard thing, i started playing literally the day before the campaign dropped, i got 7 of the 10 free tracks on author just by doing 10-12 runs on each to get used to the game and learn a bit without even using action keys, i think it's fine to have didactic maps but at least make it a bit of a challenge as well
How I did the hard turn on 03 is just line up on left side and full right while clicking reverse ( I believe this makes a drift but I am noob) and you can get through the turn with enough speed for author.
That low bobsled turn on 24 is brutal. Takes forever to get there and you can't even practice it properly because they put a checkpoint in the middle. Super frustrating.
wish they had more of the new cars and not just the ones that got added last, snow car really grew on me but its so rare to see in cotd and next season we wont have rally on campaing either
Lol a03 was my easiest to author medal. I just press fullspeed through the corner. though probably with less initial speed. I had to learn and use action keys for the first time for this campaign.
this is my first day playing so im pretty bad. rally car suuuucccks, its so hard to learn although using my MMO mouse for action keys has helped. So far map 16 and 20 are the most fun for me. The corners feel super smooth and obvious where i mess up. overall im really enjoying the game after playing for 6ish hours day one. still need a few more golds to try out the black tier (ice and/or rally maps) anyways good luck with the tower climb, been watching the videos for years.
What do you mean by “advanced tutorials”? He’s already done videos on ice slides, speed slides, bug slides, the uberbug… I think also the newish quantum slide.
Kacky map idea. Make a speed checl jump after a mass of car changes, random changers for every car, everywhere, and you need just the right amount of some cars to make the jump
13:25 Im a new(ish) trackmania player who is F2P so i can only play 10 maps every 3 months but 06 and 07 was fairly hard. but the rest looks fun (except black maps)
Howdy Wirtual! It's me ShiranuiWolf! Some of the mystery is a little gone now huh lol. But I have been playing a bit of this campaign in my off time, and I found that most of the earlier tracks have some very easy Author Medals. Is it wrong thought that I'm looking at this video for some tips on how to get some of the harder ones? I don't know just curious. Have a good one!
@@WirtualTV Of course! At this time I have grabbed more than half of them, the red and black tracks are gonna be the death of me lol. But I really like this campaign, and am slowly getting more experience. Thanks for the words of encouragement and I hope you have a good one!
You were right about the wide range of skill, because I just got the game for free on steam because I played tmnf when I was little and decided to try it again and I was struggling to get any author medals, have no idea what action keys are, it’s bad.
I recently picked up Trackmania after watching Wirtual since the pandemic and I've come to the realization that Wirtual is a FAR better player than he presents himself as being
38:15 - "The underwater community are prophets - they started playing underwater before it was cool" - I mean... Once it's cool it's just called ice I'll see myself out
