Those montanas are nice north Korean sold and painted by JB hunt yea the shiping company make sense they hade the money and already into shiping they buy the trew LM tractor and paint them green and sell them like craftmen do or kmart use to do it with lawn tractors. Its basicaly should b LM tractor buy who knows could use any motor i wouldent want to buy one in 40 years some montanas are yanmar and their big ones are LM both realy good macheans for the mone some even use john deer motors and drive train good looking machean all made for JB hunt shiping to make extra money
Always make sure pressure is off, pulled a hose off of a 982 cat thinking I had released pressure and it blew it me 10m away from the loader. Luckily for me i was in overalls so it didnt hit any skin and i landed in water... Be careful

Jac Ersk put a 55 gal coaster tray under it, and it becomes even hander. An oil pump makes emptying it easier if it is very tall, it can get heavy and very awkward to empty.
When I turn the 5 gallon pail 180ﾟ and pour out of the top of it, I do not need to punch a vent in. same principle when pouring out of a quart or gallon jug, don't put the outlet at the bottom, put it at the top ,, it will "vent" without any issues then ( - :

Here's a useful tip. When your draining overhead oil, wrap a shop towel around your wrist and give it a wrap of electrical tape to hold it. Basically a shop towel sweat band. This will stop the dreaded oil running down your forearm & dripping off your elbow. Best of luck............... Stay safe & healthy
When I misplace the cap on my oil catch pan I use the cap off a 1 gallon motor oil container. The Castro’s GT-1 1 gallon jug cap works just fine but I think any of them would fit.
What collection of sizes of Plugs and Caps do you recommend having on hand to work on tractor hoses. Yes I have a Kubota but I am hopeful some one has some suggestions on what to have on hand.

I do equipment maintenance on stuff at work that different people potentially "work" on. I decided to start writing "Due @ hours or date" instead of when I changed it. The reason for that is because most don't know services intervals so I just set them at what I want. That way if it is over the hours or date on the filter you know it needs serviced.
I was wondering about The 8n you were working on. I was following you as I have a 50 model that I am trying to get running better to use a little bit Trying to get through some Hillbilly mech work done to it !
All of the large tractors are out at the hay ground and will be staying there, we’re actually planning to move more equipment out that way in a few weeks.
I dont believe you got all the hydraulic fluid out of the tractor. There should be a drain plug on each side of the rear diff. I have the same tractor. It should take between 12 and 15 gallons last I remember.its been a while since I changed mine last as it doesn't get used much.
You may be right, I’ll stick my head back under and see what it looks like. Fortunately the oil wasn’t terrible, so it should be alright if some did get missed.

A much easier way to dump oil out of a 5 gallon bucket than the way you were doing it is to rotate the bucket 180 degrees. Turn it to where the fill spout is at the very top of the lid instead of at the very bottom. It’ll vent without you having to punch a hole in the lid, plus it’s waaaaayyyy easier to handle that heavy 5 gallon bucket because you can rest it on something and just tip it until oil starts coming out instead of just standing there holding it. Maybe you already know to do this and maybe there’s a reason why you don’t do it like that, and if that’s the case I understand. I’m just giving you a tip. I’ve struggled with enough of them to know. Maybe one day I’ll get fancy and just buy an electric pump meant for 5 gallon buckets. They’re pretty slick.
