Emissions has been a big topic in the equipment industry for some time now. In this video we're going to focus on DPF systems commonly refered to Regen systems that are often found on 25 to 75 hp tractors. These systems are not overly complicated and there are ways to improve performance by following some simple tips.

Thanks for your time. I own a TYM 474, HST, currently 210hrs Has never regened (nor have ever indicated a loss of power). I am not a tractor mechanic. I would recommend for folks with problematic regens to install a pyro as close to the exhaust valve ports as practical, prior to the cat. I like analog gages, but an idiot light that illuminates if exhaust temp is to low will work. Tractors have a wide range of mechanic advantages that can work against engines that are subject to repetitive regens. The pyro will learn the operator how the manage the exhaust temperature to keep the cat hot. A hot exhaust is what the will prevent regen, not engine rpm nor jacket watet temperature will make the cat hot. All Diesels need a minimum exhaust gas temperature to burn clean. Regards.

So they're going to capture soot in a filter can only to go into a regen and dump 30 minutes of fuel into the can at high rpm's to blow all the soot and unburned fuel out again. Brilliant!

I think the tractor industry has mis-managed emissions. I posted my thoughts.

20-30 mins but keep in mind this is not a parked regen, it's a keep working the tractor regen which is way better.

that filter in the canister can be gutted and with a lil mods, no more regens ever.

We have a Mahindra mforce 105p that we can't even use to stack hay bales because it won't go out of idle and wants constant regen. Help!

You could’ve stopped at Mahindra. Yeah those tractors are well know for junk emissions systems in addition to all the other issues.

To be honest I’m not sure. I taught emissions systems to technicians when I worked for Agco/Massey corporate. My instinct says that on some level system diagnostics is lacking at the dealer level however I’ve heard of similar complaints and it seems to wide spread to pin on sub par dealer support. I actually traded for a 105 last December that was in the shop at the local dealer. They replaced the entire system which screams they couldn’t figure out the actual problem. Interestingly enough if I’m not mistaken, I think is a Bosch system which unless they have a economy version for Mahindra should be pretty reliable based on my experience. Personally if you’ve had enough trouble with it you might try to force a buy back and I know they’ve had to do it before but it won’t be easy. Otherwise take the hit and trade for a brand/dealer that can provide a better level of support. I know I can’t beat Mahindra on price but I promise we take care of our customers and equipment with good support from our manufacturers. Mahindra’s aren’t for people who actually use their tractors. It’s situations like this where you realize why they’re cheaper. I wish I could be more help.

How does the egr system work? And does it damage your engine? I was just wondering because I have heard people say that and didn’t know if there was truth to that or not.
@prequipmentsales
@prequipmentsales 2 года назад
That’s actually a pretty good topic for a video one of these days. The truth is I don’t think EGR itself has ever caused too much of a problem with the engine. However a failure of an EGR cooler has certainly caused headaches specially in Ford trucks if my memory serves me. That’s some thing we’ve not seen a lot of in the tractor world.

I understand some folks try to avoid computers by hanging on to older tractors. I myself am a fan a simplicity. That being said this technology is quite reliable and allows for many awesome features not available on older equipment. Thanks for watching!

@@prequipmentsales I can't think of a single feature on new tractors (cars or trucks either for that matter), that relies on the DPF system to function. Everything from the ECM down to the work lights couldn't care less if you're powered by diesel, gas, or hamster. Manufacturers program the ECM to basically disable (limp mode) the other systems from functioning because the consumer didn't follow their demands. Or in the case of gas powered vehicles, your O2 says the carbon levels are higher than nanny Government says you can have. Sad times.
@prequipmentsales
@prequipmentsales 7 месяцев назад
the programing of the emission systems comes directly from gov mandates. Even the way the error codes are implemented comes from regulation. You won't hear me claim it's great but these systems have got much better over the years as a lot of learning has taken place and these engines are running incredibly cleaner whether you care about that or not.
