No counter weight in the front. Tractor lost steering as front wheels were off the ground slightly

It looks like the tractor driver thinks about hitting the first car changes his mind then deliberately aims for the second car?? coincident he swerves towards both cars just as he is passing ?? interesting to hear what the first car driver thinks happened.

No he’s over loaded with no weights on the front of the tractor. Tractors must have weights on the front, they are hard to fit & heavy. He probably couldn’t be bothered. It’s the same in a van, if the rear axles have more weight than they should or if all the weight behind the axles is more than the engine etc it will effectively allow the tractor front wheels to skip & not have traction to steer in correct direction.

Seen the queue of traffic behind him??I live close to Mildenhall. Juggernaut tractors are equivalent to Abnormal Loads, but unescorted. The nuisance that they create, driving during rush hour, unpassable, bullying, dangerous and seemingly impervious to other road-users, is rapidly bankrupting the goodwill and tolerance which farmers used to enjoy....
@thaycock1
@thaycock1 Год назад
Bet you don't think of the tractors when you're eating your Christmas dinner. Or drinking you beer. Or eating your bread. How else do you expect the crop to get from the field to your table?? Don't like tractors then stop eating or drinking anything they have to transport and there will soon be no need for them! Or, get some patience and realise 5-10 mins on your day on the odd day you get stuck behind one, really isn't that big of a deal!
@kitheskethharvey3576

@@thaycock1 I'm sorry if that was your takeaway. My tone was harsh, and on the back of a very recent experience. I am a smallholder myself and I live in a rural area. I absolutely acknowledge that tractors are essential and I applaud farmers' efforts in almost impossible circumstances to provide food for the nation, especially in recent history. I was merely trying to convey the fact that modern tractors as they are now evolving are becoming huge, and that rural lanes are not. All I plead is that farmers, for their own sakes, do not create resentment by allowing over-extensive tailbacks to build up without pulling over to allow other road users to pass (as used to be the case); by ensuring that their drivers are experienced, mature and sober enough to handle them; by trying as far as possible not to use them at rush hour or on routes where greater danger could be generated: and to remember that, although their engines and speeds are increasing, they are not as nimble or as responsive as standard motor vehicles. Thank you for all that you do.

As a farmers daughter myself, I agree that tractors CAN be a nuisance on the road. In ireland ( when I'm from) a tractor driver was prosecuted for not pulling over at huge stops to let lines of traffic out. It went in for miles apparently There are a lot of continuous white lines on our roads as you know, so opportunities for cars to pass safely are very few ( and of course we always have cars coming against us ). This chap is a different sort of stale biscuit, we will all agree.

They aren't the traffic cops, or paid by UK ratepayers. Those are US accents. The footage us from the perimeter security cams of the US airbase at Lakenheath. The one that holds the nukes? As Gore Vidal observed: Britain has been an occupied country since 1946. As for the tractor-driver's driving skills: this is Liz Truss's constituency. Nuff said.
@thegreat_I_am
@thegreat_I_am Год назад
Tractors are getting too big for British roads and too fast, with 50kph+ being common. Couple that with unbalanced wheels and tyres and no suspension (the tyres are the suspension) and they’re quite easy to lose control of, especially if you’ve not much experience, like this teenaged driver. A rapid change of direction like the lad does here, when he nearly hits the first car, causes an increasing pendulum effect as the weight swings from one big bouncy tyre to the other.
@thegreat_I_am
@thegreat_I_am Год назад
@@andrewguthrie2 It’s still just a tractor mate. That’s what they’re all like these days. Do you expect people to be still using Fordson Majors?
@TheDennisZb
@TheDennisZb Год назад
Modern day tractors do have suspension, at least on the front axle. And if that trailer had good brakes he just had to touch the brakes for the whole combination to stop when he first hit the berm after that first car. Instead he drove on and lost control
@thegreat_I_am
@thegreat_I_am Год назад
@@TheDennisZb Front suspension is an option on modern tractors. You can’t tell if this one has it or not. I have one with front suspension and four without. It does make a difference to the smoothness of the ride at speed and cuts down bouncing and it’s the one l choose if l’m doing road work. The tractor l sow with is on outsize tyres and it’s horrible to drive on the road.

The tractor isn’t the problem, it’s the person driving it
@whatyousaidbud
@whatyousaidbud Год назад
There are laws governing the speed of tractors depending on whether they have suspension and air braked trailers or not, if they are without suspension and/or air brakes to the trailer, then they must not travel faster than 25mph without a trailer and 12.5mph with any trailer. Studies have been carried out in Cornwall and found ZERO compliance with the laws among farmers. There are further laws governing the use of agricultural tractors for the use of hauling goods for someone other than the farmer who's tractors they are. If hauling for someone else, the tractors MUST be run on white diesel and drivers MUST adhere to the same strict driving hours regulations as HGV drivers. Although I would go so far as to say NONE of the farmers do.
