My grandpa had a 435 he cut a lot of hay with one it was my favorite tractor .

Those detroit diesels sound really good. When you're not sitting 3 feet from the exhaust. They scream quite a bit.

Detroit screaming Ds we run an Oliver 1950 on our place over in Middleburgh that has a detroit there is no mistaking that tractor when she is pulling the chisel plows and running on the governor. 4 inch straight pipe about 3ft above sitting position don't really get the ear piercing scream in the seat but drive a few miles away and you hear it we love it and neighbors hate it.

New Holland 1880 chopper with a 4-71 would drown that Oliver right out. Drove and operated both.

Deere tried to adapt the motor from the 430 from gasoline to diesel but experienced failures. Instead of designing a new diesel motor for the 430, it was more economical to make an ag tractor out of the John Deere 440, which had the GM 2-53 motor.

You think that 2-71 engine is noisy. You should try (if you could find one ) a New Holland 1880 chopper with a 4-71. If you weren’t deaf before, you will be after a day.
