Always a good day when a Cole The Cornstar video comes out and an even better day when Daddy Cornstar starts it out. Dad starts out by putting a new air line on the white Volvo semi. Once Dad got done with that, the video jumps to my on the farm. I loaded up two tool boxes to be used in the service trailer and on the back of the Freightliner. I also loaded up the welder so we could use it to take out a stubborn bolt on the Case IH 2208 corn head.
I had plenty of issues with trying to get the new bolts into the corn head, but I finally figured it out. While I was working on that, Daddy Cornstar was getting his furnace in tip top condition and he gives a wonderful tutorial on everything he did to prepare the furnace.
Once the furnace was done, I quickly checked over, filled tires, greased, and changed the engine oil/filters in the Freightliner. The only equipment we have left to work on is the bean head now. We had a surprise show up on the farm on one of our rainy mornings. Unverferth sent out a 750 bushel grain cart for us to use this fall! Toward the end of the video, Cooper and I stocked the enclosed tool trailer with tools and we pulled the new Unverferth Grain Cart into the shop to check everything over and get all of our cameras and monitors hooked up.
Thank you for watching!

I love how Cole is a "Neat Freak" good job Cole.. love watching the farm process...have always lived on a farm.... not this level but still a farm.... Glad you are showing AMERICA how our farming is done.......

The problem with being a neat freak in farming is that every time you throw something out 2 weeks later you need it. Doesn't matter if it sat there 30 years. Right after you throw it you need it. Just like when they were fixing the door on the shed. He threw the steel they needed to fix it. But my dad is the same way, he is a pack rat.

My late father grew up on a tobacco / cotton farm in NC. He went in the Navy as he got tired of following a pair of mules. After a stint in the Navy I went to school in SE Idaho with Potato farmers and Loggers, worked as a bagger in a potato warehouse. Have a lot of respect for what it takes to get food from seed to table.You only work 25 hrs a day 8 days a week, so you have more time then the rest of us. Thanks for sharing and giving us an appreciation of what it takes. Narragansett Bay.

So nice to see a young man your age that isn't like the rest of people your age that are lazy and unmotivated. Your dad is a riot! Got quite a few laughs watching your show. I like the freightliner. I used to drive one like that back in the late 90s. It had an n-14 Cummins with a 15 speed. No re gen stuff on it and it would pull hard. I've never driven a semi with an automatic transmission like the new trucks all seem to have today. I'm glad these old trucks live on working on the farms.

Autos in a truck absolutly change your life It's all well and good being a manly man with a road ranger But once you spend 2 months/12 hrs doing grain deliveries you feel the difference Not to mention the reduced fuel and maintenance bill I'll take my 650hp Volvo over my old kenworth anyday Almost like driving a couch

You can put it in manual if you want Or choose low rpm shift and high I use manual for driving though the sand in the paddocks to hold it flat But realisticly an auto will always have far better control being able to shift to the engine load by the second not by gut feel and rpm Not having a clutch makes it way better as well Never releasing the drive train or having the clutch rengage means it holds traction on dirt roads alot longer

Hi there Cole, greetings from Sweden. I really like watching your channel, especially when you are cleaning the old place up, it's really shaping up. Can't wait for part three of the "junk series". One of the things I've seen you clean is the front pit at the bins. You have also said that you will rebuild it in the future, and this got me thinking... It seems to me that the biggest problem with the pit is that it fills with water. so why dig a hole in the ground that needs pumping out, why not build a pit on top of the ground? Then you can add drainage holes on the sides that keeps the pit dry whitout all the extra work and wasted corn. You can maybe even suspend a strong perforated steel plate an inch from the bottom above the drainage to keep the corn super dry... And then you just build a long gravel ramp on and off the new pit. Couldn't that be a solution? Good luck with your farming, and I hope you take the time to have som fun too, because as I'm sure you know, all work and no play isn't good. Myself I'm gonna hop on my Arctic Cat Alpha One as soon as the snow is deep enough and go for a nice rip, that always recharges my batteries...
@antidotetochaoschats

You guys need some bolt extractors, and some left hand drill bits. I use them to remove exhaust header bolts that snap off, example f-150 had three of them snapped off. Reinstall to find out wrong angle, customer had bought wrong year and I only noticed when trying to line up exhaust. Broke a forth during process of reinstalling old one after drill out what the weld did to it. Those made this job way easier.

Originally oil fired, the 1951 furnace had new firebrick installed and was converted to natural gas in 1972. Mom had a new boiler installed in the summer of 1990, after I moved in. I have cleaned my gas burner every year, until I sold the place in 2006. Biggest mistake I ever made.
