Tracey has no idea how much this song means to me, after I lost my great grandmother this song helped me grieve and helped me realize that other people are also grieving. And that time will eventually go on and things will get better.

I’ve been trying to look at the song in a happier way as opposed to the sad way I’ve always seen it so thank you for that!!

He almost died right when he finished his first album. He got shot by a few thugs attempting to rob him and a female he was with. He was rushed to Vanderbilt and barely survived. It’s a miracle he is still here!

Sorry to hear about your Grandma. I remember the years 1985 to 1987 being tough ones. My Dad lost both maternal Grandparents (His Mom's step-father in October 1985, then her mother in June 1986). Then he lost his father in April 1987. Within that short time, all of the grandparents that my brother & I had on that side were all gone now. Dad lost his Mom in 1972, 3 years before I was born, & my brother is 3 years younger than me. During that time, my Mom lost her paternal Grandmother in November 1985. Leaving only her parents left of all grandparents for my brother & I. I found it hard because of my health issues causing me to have trouble remembering things; & my favorite way to deal with that was genealogy. That helped me gather together whatever I could re each person from all generations: photos, documents & all. And having RU-vid sure helps too. I'll do searches & look for my relatives' favorite songs, etc... & will then copy & paste that link under their profiles on my Ancestry.Com Tree. I find it a great way to gather up & easily find things, too. This way, if I'm ever having a Grandparent, Aunt/Uncle, etc... all I have to do is, login to my Ancestry.Com Account, & click on the link for them, & listen to their favorite song, etc... Definitely helps ease those moments & days where you can't handle the fact that they're gone, physically. I did the same thing for my older siblings & their kids too. Since (like my Dad), I'm a huge music buff since birth. I've been collecting video links on here, & adding them to a tree for them also. Since, my brother & 2 sisters lost their father young, their kids: 1 boy & 2 girls, wanted to know more about their Grandpa. So, I saved his favorite songs, documentaries on the countries of origin, their favorite singers official youtube page links, etc... That way, it makes it easier for them to know who these artists are as well. Not just a name or song title. But, them, personally. That gives them a good understanding of who their Grandpa liked. RU-vid, Music, Movies, Genealogy, & more have all been lifesavers for me. That's why I call any of my favorites from all walks of life: heroes of mine. Take care.

@@boogitybear2283 Those thugs intended to rape the girl, then kill her and Tracy. Tracy saw to it that was not going to happen. He was shot 4 times and saved the girl's life as well as his own life in the process.

He has such a unique voice and I have been a fan for many years. Class act would be a good way to describe him. Time Marches On is probably the song that really won me over. I See it Now is another one that I put at the top.

I agree with Tracy. This song was definitely meant for him. I love the music of Brooks & Dunn, too. But, I found that hearing Tracy come out with this song, I couldn't imagine anyone else cutting it before him. His version: (style & voice), fit this song like Cinderella's glass slipper fit her foot. It's always been 1 of my most favorite country songs. Glad he recorded it. All the best, Tracy.

I 1000% love Tracy singing this song but I argue brooks and Dunn singing this woulda topped it
@marieasparling6717
@marieasparling6717 2 года назад
I'm sure that Brooks & Dunn's version would have been good. But, 1 thing I noticed about me as a kid was, usually the 1st person who blows me away with their version, is the one that usually sticks. 1st impressions are vital. I never forget the 1st impression of something or someone. I like hearing multiple covers of 1 song. But, my favorite is usually the 1 made me go, god that was amazing. I couldn't imagine anyone else singing that. A good example of that is, I'LL FLY AWAY from George Jones. That was the 1st gospel song that I ever remember hearing. And his version of it blew me away so much that even to this day, it's still my favorite hands down. And he also wrote the song, too. Which is another added bonus. This is his original 1966 version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IgEzC4F1_WM.html (this 1 you don't hear the backup singers too much), & this is the version that my Dad, (George Sr), still has on tape: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0UT-0vk_CrY.html (you can really hear his backup singers in this 1.) Both versions are great. But, this 1 is the one that sticks most because, it was my 1st favorite version of it. And then there's George's song, One Of These Days. His version was great. But, I have to admit that, even though he was my 1st country king & Dolly, 1st country queen. The moment I heard Emmylou Harris' version of that song, I was sold for life. It's still my most favorite version of that song; & my most favorite song from her, period. She really sold me on it. Here's a live performance from her singing it with George in the audience: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eOIKXwnJEpk.html

Love Tracy and love the song but hate this story! One of biggest things I hate about country music is the song writers. In Rock n roll, for example, Eddie van halen wrote it and played it. Ac/dc wrote it and played it.

Or stole it. Led Zepplin “Stair way to heaven” stolen,Shall I go on to all the music written by blacks then covered by white artists. Allman bros “One way out” written by Elmore James in 1960. I can go on and on. Grow up,do a little research. Lookup the roots of Rock. Sister Rosetta Tharpe, All the music The King of Rock and Roll Elvis copied,Chuck Berry,Muddy Waters.

If you're addicted to people who write, sing, cut their own songs; here's just a few of my favs. George Jones: I'll Fly Away; Why Me: Kris Kristofferson; Aaron Tippin: Kiss This, What If I Said: Anita Cochran; Holes In The Floor Of Heaven: Steve Wariner (& Billy Kirsch); & many others. So many songs to pick from.
