I have been married twice. 1st time Modern marriage for 20 yrs. 2nd time, currently, traditional for 5yrs. In my 1st marraige everyone worked and we all, rarely, were able to sit down together to have dinner. But my current trad marraige is totally different. Whenever we have an issue we always have time to talk about it. There is no "I'm to tired to talk about it".
Hmmm, I did some research and some of the panelists are getting things mixed up. AFDC, under the Social Security Act, 1935, was created for WW. It didn't include BW until 1960's. A minority of BW turned to AFDC for assistance. 1968 Man in the house rule overturned by Supreme Court. All states didn't participate. Somewhere between 20-30 did. 1974 - Section 8 created. It states nothing about a man not being in the home in order to be eligible. Men can receive section 8, too if he qualifies. I think a good question would be why did some BW feel the need to turn to the govt. for aid?
