hahha omg yess!! I cant wait to see what will be written in books about this year. Btw guys, if someone is interested I have a travel channel as well! Feel free to check it out!😍
When I was a kid my parents bought a school bus. They painted it baby blue and converted it to a camper. I have the best memories of camping on that bus. We had a kitchen, 2 sets of bunk beds in the back. A living room and dining area. It was awesome. We even took along our St. Bernard.
yeah, dont think there will be much not explored from them by then. Btw guys, if someone is interested I have a travel channel as well! Feel free to check it out!😍
As a Washington native, it was pretty dope seeing you guys pass by, spend time in, and get excited by places that are so normal and familiar to me, and people from Washington in general. Keep these WA/Pacific Northwest vids coming!
Just the content I need to keep my mind off things at the moment. I was anxious and full of nerves, and could feel myself relaxing instantly after hearing the opening notes of your video. Thanks so much for letting us live through you. ❤️
So pleased that you guys aren't only staying in the van, but still booking yourself into quirky accommodations. My heart did sink a little when I found out you were buying the van as I thought we'd loose this type of content. SO pleased you guys are mixing and matching ❤️
Feels so much more their style haha :) - not to be crazy self promoty but we would love for you to check out our travel vlogs. K&N inspired us to travel full time and we are loving sharing our travels. Would love to know what you think as you love travel vlogs 💛💛
I have been watching them for more than 2 years and every single vlog with them sleeping, Nate would ALWAYS wake up earlier then Kara and make her Coffee and then wake her up. I am literally gonna cry! So cute! 😍🥺
Me too! I miss their travel content, hope thy go back to traveling soon! Btw guys, if someone is interested I have a travel channel as well! Feel free to check it out!😍
I freaking love their dynamic as a couple. It always makes me smile when Nate gets up first to make Kara her coffee... every day. Relationship goals, my good man.
When you said “washington” I remembered something. When I was in kindergarten, I went to Washington DC. When I came home, I thought I went to Washington state. I also thought that America was the whole world- so o told everybody I travelled across the world on vacation.
😂😂 when I was 5yo we went to chicago to visit relatives during summer. I live in croatia, europe. I didnt even know we were in a plane, I tought we were in a big bus. Because I entered all the planes through those tunnels and we sat in the middle seats. So I guessed we were going somewhere with a bus, but a bit further away them my uncle (who lives 7hours bus travel from us). When I was in school and learnt where America is, just then I realized how far we went 😂😂😂
I love when you add in these easy recipes! Also, that tiny fire was absolutely adorable and it's fun seeing you going on other fun adventures outside of the van again 😊
We did our 3 years with a composting toilet - literally a plastic trash bin for solids (where they don't disappear, but you cover them with gerbil bedding) and a hose leading to a water jug for liquids. Yup, won't be doing that one again. 💩 It's fun seeing how the other half lives, in their giant school bus, isn't it? 😂
@@saharakaylamc9231 We had a composting toilet on a boat, so we just waited until we were three miles offshore and dumped it. That's the same process boats with holding tanks use - unless they don't go offshore, in which case they get a pump out.
Me trying to find Kara in the big bed "Where's Kara?" For the bed in the van, I would recommend getting a layer of foam underneath the mattress cover. It is a lifesaver while sleeping in the rv since we couldn't remove my "treehouse" mattress. Also I had a dream about you guys staying in a really nice room on a cruise that included a wading pool.
As someone who grew up in Olympia, WA it's so awesome to see people enjoy the boardwalk and our art! Also, I always tell people "Yeah I'm from the capital of Washington, and it's not Seattle." because everyone immediately assumes Seattle is the Capital! So I promise everyone thinks that! I've never drank at that brewery, but we have so many it would be hard to get to all of them. Sadly our Farmers Market hasn't happened this year because of COVID, but if you ever find yourselves back there you were really close where we have our Spring and Fall Farmers Market. It's my favorite thing to do back home! Also, when you're out checking out the boats on the pier keep an eye out for jellyfish, they're abundant and every time I'm out I see them float by! Thank you for enjoying my home :)
Certainly not me. I saw whales in Antarctica, but my biggest memory was how much the damn penguins smelled. You could smell them from literal miles away. Penguins. Smell. So. Bad.
When I lived there and when I have visited there as a kid, I always see Orcas and Dolphins when I am out on the water in the Peugeot sound. When I was about 7 years old we were fishing on the Peugeot Sound when an Orca breached right next to our small wooden boat. It was way bigger than our boat. Nothing like looking a wild Orca in the eye at 7 years old. It is not uncommon to see that kind of thing there especially if you are on one of the many ferries or out fishing from a boat. I have seen whales there for the beach also.
You guys should get some "rechargeable" heat packs. There are some that recharge in boiling water. They may help a little with the cold weather and lack of working heater.
Those sodium acetate heat packs are actually not a great solution for van life traveling. The energy/fuel required to reset them would be much more efficiently spent on heating the cabin or your body when it’s cold, particularly in a way that doesn’t introduce moisture into the cabin (propane byproduct and even by boiling water for 8-16 minutes). Electric power storage is really expensive and electric heating elements draw huge amounts of power. Campfire could work, when you’re running a campfire, but imagine using that firewood in a stove instead. And then again the reusable heaters are made of plastic and will eventually end up not recycled, in a landfill/ocean. If you must, resort to “hothands” hand warmers. They’re dirt cheap, the reactants degrade into iron oxide (rust) and the packaging is more readily recyclable.
As an Olympia native, I am glad you enjoy my home town. Makes me homesick seeing the sites. Having lived in the UK for the last 14 years I have had to adopt Seattle as my home town as no one has heard of Olympia and quite a lot of the time confuse Washington state with Washington D. C. At least most have an idea where seattle is.
I love the two of you, and I really admire how you traveled fearlessly around the world together and had so much fun. It was so so much fun watching you do it.
Aww so so sweet - not to be crazy self promoty but we would love for you to check out our travel vlogs. K&N inspired us to travel full time and we are loving sharing our travels. Would love to know what you think as you love travel vlogs 💛💛
Hey Kara & Nate, I love your all’s content! If you’re ever in Northeast Tennessee, I know of a very large and extremely beautiful wild cave that has 1880s signatures in it! It’s also not too far from the oldest town in Tennessee! Stay safe!❤️
It’s so crazy you’ve been in my state the last few days!!! I discovered your channel last year and am such a huge fan of you two! I don’t live near Olympia but I am about 30 mins north of Seattle. Nate, don’t feel bad for thinking Seattle wasn’t the capital. A LOT of people think that!
Omg!!! You were in my city!!!! I’m so happy! I hope you really enjoyed my hometown. I was literally yelling at my husband so excited you came here. I hope you came to understand why Olympia is so beloved.
Sooooooo excited that you two are basically in my backyard! I’ve been following you for almost 3 yrs and now your just an hour away compared to several time zones away! Haha I hope you enjoy Washington as much as you can, sorry that the weather decided to be moody, gotta love Washington for that 💁♀️ I would suggest taking a ferry to some islands, when it’s a clear day super pretty! Safe travels ❤️ and God Bless ❤️
Same here! Im so excited they will be up in Seattle. Such a perfect time of year too. I hope they avoid downtown and enjoy everything else we have to offer. (Im sure they will.)
Please read this, and respond if possible. You guys have to come to Pacifica, California (Bay Area). I live in the sunny beach town and we have really foggy nights where you can see the lights in the distance. (Stretches along 6 miles of the Pacific Ocean) It would be so awesome! Please comment if you can. We have an RV space that is easy to access on our property. It would be so awesome and you can go surfing and snowboarding/skiing hours later (I've done that a few times). You guys would love it! Please respond if you would like to come here. It's 20 minutes away from San Francisco. It's been very sunny lately but is always a perfect temperature. Rarely gets over 80. Also, I have been watching since 5k subscribers.
My husband and I just tried your ramen/p-butter recipe and it was sooooo good!!! The p-butter was mild and the cayenne gave it a really nice heat. We will definitely add this to our regular meals! We love your show and are sorry about the covid interrupting your coastal trip. You two have a will that will find it's way.
I think I like their US/van series better than the crazy renting out an island, sleeping on the the side of a mountain, hiking a Volcano type travel. I dont know, this seems more humble and relatable. I live in the US and have never seen the Pacific Northwest, beautiful!! Hopefully you guys can make it down to Texas and New Mexico eventually. Lots to see and do!!

I just love Kara and Nate they're living my dream life... Gosh I wish I was them... they had a lot of fun travelling the world.. I hope one day I could to the same thing with my future husband
I made a version of your Ramen recipe in my instant pot. It came out great! If you have room in your van, you really should try getting an instant pot. There’s so much you could do in it. There’s different sizes.
Those wooden tv tables are amazing. I have one by my desk for an expanded work surface and when we had to get rid of our old kitchen table to make the room accessible for my mom I replaced it with two of those tables. Less surface space = less room for clutter and they work for what we need as we don't eat in the kitchen. Also super easy to move out of the way if necessary.
Thank you for putting Olympia in your video. Olympia has been affected by protesting like Portland and Seattle. Budd Bay Cafe is a hidden gem. Due to Covid-19, the wonderful Sunday Brunch has been shutdown. But it's an amazing restaurant.
I also remember their content from Antartica, it was epic! Btw guys, if someone is interested I have a travel channel as well! Feel free to check it out!😍
Traveling is so so fun. So different now but still so worth it. - not to be crazy self promoty but we would love for you to check out our travel vlogs. K&N inspired us to travel full time and we are loving sharing our travels. Would love to know what you think as you love travel vlogs 💛💛
Kara and Nate - We use a single induction hot plate that sits on our counter at home. It runs on 110v and can be tucked away in a cabinet when you are down with it. It would work great for your van. We used one in our RV as well.
The forehead kiss with the nicest coffee is all I need for the rest of my life Istg if I had something so pure everyday would be the best day of my life.
You two were staying less than a minute away from our house! I’m so glad you got to enjoy Olympia. You are our travel inspiration, and we look forward to your videos every week. Much love....Chali & Alyx Bentley
Thank you for the NO ADS!!!!! I've watched the whole thing and only just realised! too many ads in vloggers vids now x hope you guys are keeping well- love watching your stuff xxx
LOVE those autumn leafed trees in the background behind Nate when he's talking about his beer. I know it's cold, but I always believe that the the sea is so beautiful in Autumn and Winter (still and glassy like), and seeing a whale - WOW!
Excited to see your Seattle video, lived here my whole life and travelled around the whole country. I still think the pnw is the most beautiful place in the country.
If u go to Idaho you should go to Sandpoint. Its a tiny town with amazing places to see and visit. Plus there's a town about 30 or 15 minutes away called Laclede and I live here. I know so many different hiking trails and bike trails. There is a restaurant/bar its been here since forever, they just opened a coffee shop. There's a gas station that we call the little store, and an amazing community. I've lived here my entire life. If I didn't live here I would travel here every summer.
I lived in Olympia Washington and seeing all those signs and the mountains and the trees make me smile I miss it so much once the pandemic goes away I am buying a plane ticket and I’m going home!
Best notifications!!! K&N inspired us to travel full time and vlog and we still stop and watch their vlogs no matter what country we are in!! Would love to know what you think of our vids as you love travel vlogs if you are up for watching some newbies💛💛
Fun video. Add frozen peas, broccoli. and all your other things to the Ramen. Garnish with sprouts and tomato for a change up, yummy. Can’t wait to give your version a try.😋
I'd go with the bus unless you could find a small used RV. Most RVs are way too big, way too cumbersome, kind of like that bus, but a van is just too small for full-time travel. A van is okay for a week maybe, but I need to breathe it's not fun taking everything apart every day to have a place to sit. A smaller bus or a small RV would probably be perfect for full time travel.
@@slidenapps Thanks! I'm certainly leaning to full time, so space would be important. I have all winter and think building out my own would be a fun way to spend it. That or re-doing an RV... so many ideas, but I love the idea of having more space.
I've been in a van for 5 years and love it because it is easy to drive and park. I am solo, so size is OK, tho not great. Good excuse to get outside every day! Rent a bus and an RV before you buy! Just know that most RVs break. Check out Robin at Creativity RV. She has been in 3 different rigs in 3 years and settled on a fifth wheel.
@@beckypincalifornia1985 Thanks for taking the time to reply! I am drawn to a van for the ease of travel and it being familiar to drive. It is good to hear that you're 5 years in. I wondered if it would get tiring in a small space, but great to hear that you're loving it!
For used school busses, 2009 was a good year for the Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 School Bus. They are solid and reliable in my experience. I would however stay away from the 2017 model year, the build quality isn't as good and they seem to have more reliability problems. Getting one with a wheel chair lift would make loading and unloading cargo easy. I believe the 2009s go for under $10K at auction. If you opt for a diesel rear engine bus instead, keep in mind that they are more difficult to work on since the motor is packed pretty tight.
Yay you’re in Washington state! Hope you get a chance to take a ferry to the west side of Puget Sound - the Olympic mountains are beautiful. Also: Chuckanut Drive up north or the rolling hills of the Palouse in Eastern WA. Love our state!
The other day, probably after watching your treehouse adventure, the thought came that you had recaptured the stride that CoVid had pulled out from under you. A great balance of how you travel (seated in flight/piloting your van) and what you experience once you arrive (great local people/adventure/sights/eats/digs) all done with your innate KaraandNate-ness. *sigh* good times.
Made me crave fish and chips too!! not to be crazy self promoty but we would love for you to check out our travel vlogs. K&N inspired us to travel full time and we are loving sharing our travels. Would love to know what you think as you love travel vlogs 💛💛
@@DjusLife Absolutely! I feel inspired too and we are actually modifying our 5 year and 10 year goals to travel and be free too so I appreciate travel vlogs -- especially full time travelers. That's awesome and I hope I get to that point too!
I love Washington state, I was in Seattle back in August. We took my cousins boat on Lake Washington. It was really neat to see downtown Seattle from the lake, and Bellevue too. Some of my family live in the Seattle area.
I had a mini heart attack with the title!!!! I can't wait for the day to come where I get to live van life!!!! (I've been planning to do it for years, just waiting until i graduate university). 😊😊 Sending hugs!!
Hi Kara And Nate I just wanted to let you know how much of an impact you made on my life and how much of a fan I am of you guys. This year has been really hard and I know I can always look forward to a new video of yours I swear watch all your videos like 1000 times I really hope you guys see this.🤍🤍

Despite less drone footage, these clips are still amazing. Great vision does make the story but the magic is all in the editing! Brilliant job as always- love it.
I found this channel a few months ago ddin't think much of it but not that im actually watching a video... YOUR THE CHANNEL IVE BEEN WANTING ALL MY LIFEEEEEE
