***** she the singer as invited a friend of her to join her band to play Batuko (traditional dancing and singing about Cape Verdian culture, mostly used nowadays to complain about society, drugs, goverment...) back in time women in Cape used to be a sort of husband property, therefore before she assign in any dial she must be first allowed by her husband to perform it. So when received the invitation from the singer or vocalist, she told the singer to ask for permission with her husband. When the singer went to her house the husband refused the porposal because his wife must be at home clining, cooking or taking care of their animals such as goat, cow, pigs etc. The husband felt ofended due to the singer porposal so he put the singer out of his house because his wife is a serious woman. Then the singer explained hin that she is also a serious woman and she is owns herself but she can steel be a singer because batuko shows our joy of living but also a way to express our feelings. I hope this helped u to understand. Any doubts drop me a line. Glad to help.
" E ka so mi que staba la" ( i wasn't alone there ) i believe the chanting is referring to a witness... witness of family dispute and same time she is the witness of old good days...great times that went by and also she is not the only one who witness great old culture. Ps. Thats Cape Verdean Criolu. ou so called "Kriolu di Kabu Verdi"
