Yes, there is a way to select Color’s with a pencil. You go to the wrench button on the left, then prefs, then gesture controls, then eye dropper, and you can choose which action you want to preform to pull it up. Hope this helps!

As an artist that does mainly digital art, I will say that the main thing that makes it more... difficult... would be getting used to the digital tools themselves. adjusting how you coordinate your hands, the amount of pressure you use when drawing/shading, and for someone like me who uses a laptop + graphics tablet rather than an iPad, you have to train yourself to be efficient with keyboard shortcuts to switch between tools. However, once you get through that learning curve, digital art makes artmaking so much more EFFICIENT! I prefer the word efficient rather than “easy” because easy implies that you need less skill to make art digitally. However any professional artist who does digital illustrations, or concept art for movies and video games will tell you that digital shortcuts and tools can only take you so far. You still need to have good understanding of proportions, values, and other traditional art skills in order to make a good digital portrait for example. But digital art does make things so much more efficient. Perspective drawing for example, is made so much easier with digital tools. There’s the glorified undo button we all know, and color picking! I’m not offended when people say digital art is “easy”, but rather Im afraid that new artists will be misleaded into thinking the computer or tablet does all the work for you. You still need a solid understanding of traditional drawing and artmaking skills if you want to be good at digital art! I still make sure to draw traditionally from time to time for practice :)

As someone who does both digital and traditional art, well done! I know it’s really hard (and kinda nerve-wracking) to move out of your comfort zone, especially into a new medium, and I think you did really well!

So basically, you can use the square on the left hand side of your screen (where the size and opacity is) and then it will enable you to use the pen and drag the little circle thing that comes up so that you can use the same colour as your reference. One you press the button you will understand (you can use the pen to press the button). Anyways, that is an absolutely AMAZING piece for your first time drawing digitally!!

Art with Flo and Tatyworks have taught me everything I know about Procreate! I'm still pretty new to it but their tutorials are basic enough that it helped me get acquainted with how the program works.

I'm the complete opposite. After doing digital art for 15 years... I'm done with it. I can't stand it anymore. About 6 years ago I realized I love working with my hands, I got into clay and heavily into crafts. But I'm an artist at heart, so I'm going traditional now (painting, pencils, pastels etc). Whenever I do traditional art it's just so much faster for me because it's so much simpler and I can't just undo and re-do things over and over, I'm less of a perfectionist. I've always hand drawn my digital art sketches and scanned them in, I always preferred working in pencil and paper and then colouring and rendering on photoshop (I did it with a mouse for a decade!). I just couldn't afford traditional supplies, we didn't have cheap dollar store stuff back when I was a teenager and I never had money as a teen, I didn't even know anything about art supplies at the time. I always had a liking for digital art since I was a young kid, I would draw in paint and do pixel art because that was all that was available to me, my parents refused to buy me any real art supplies, all I had was pencils, and crayola and crafts. I was always a computer geek. And I mean a real desktop computer, I'm still using one now... I'm old school but I am in my 30's so, oh well..god time goes fast!

Clipping masks so you don’t colour outside your base colour and yes you can colour select with your pencil. Looking forward to more digital art from you

you can always create a color palette by using the photo ( no touch) just hit the plus sign in the color section and then select new from photos, and itll pull all the colors from the photo reference

not just traditional artist but as for me who's done digital arts since 3/4 years ago and just got iPad Pro and using pro create, I need to re-learn the stuffs that's there since I usually used ibisPaint. it's hard and confusing but it's interesting and fun to learn how to draw and use the app even though it feels weird most of the times. tbh when I first used digital art back then it was an interesting thing to do with the features they have. anyways, good drawing and love it. keep it up! hope you'll get use to digital cause it's a big change from traditional to digital (that's how I feel)

You can do it with a pencil if you go to the left side of your screen where you resize your brush then tap on the little square in the middle. Hope this helps!

The reason why it keeps switching from the brush to the eraser or the other way around is because with the new Apple Pencil if you double tap it it will switch between the 2. That’s the reason you can change that in settings if you don’t like that.

The switching from the brush to the eraser was because the Apple pen has a double tap feature which can be changed in setting ( settings > Apple Pencil )

I’ve been using Procreate for just over a year now, and the problem of accidentally switching to the eraser is something I still do. You can stop it from happening by turning off the feature where you change tools by double tapping the pencil. But I like that feature so I’ve just learned to live with the occasional accidental switch. As far as the differences between digital and traditional, I’ve done both for a very long time and I find them very similar. I think one of the bigger elements about digital art that I find harder is because it’s so easy to undo and redo and layer over something 1000 times and zoom in to focus on the tiny details, I feel more determined to get it more accurate, cause I know I’m not limited by how much the paper can take. So I tend to obsess over the details and spend more time on digital drawings than I do on my traditional ones.

the reason the iphones dont come with plugs is so the box is smaller so they are able to ship more iphones in one batch at a time making it much more cost affective

If you press the square between the lever-things that adjust the size and opacity of your brush, then tap the place with the color you want, it will change to that color.

If you tap the little square on the left in between the opacity and size of the brush you can coulor select without using your finger

Just click on the square between the opacity and size of the brush bars. It helps pick colors

To color select with the apple pencil you tap the little rounded square on the left side of the screen

Okay so you can colour select with the Apple Pencil. The is that little square thingy on the size button (where you adjust the size of ur brush). When you tape on it it will show the colour select thingy. Then move it to the colour you want.

to select a colour with your pencil you use the little square in between the size monitor and the opacity monitor for the brushes

I've had people look at my artwork and then say to my face they don't consider it art because it's done digitally. I do the exact same thing with a paint marker and spray can. The only difference for me is I can do digital art anywhere. It's not easier apart from the undo button. It's just a different tool. If you're a shit artists you're gonna be shit whether you use traditional tools or digital.

I’m sure someone in the comments said it already, but I think the reason why you keep switching from pencil to eraser is because there’s a setting on the Apple Pencil where you can double tap the pencil with your pointer finger to switch between tools, if you want to change that you go to settings and go to the Pencil settings and you should see the option to change that. Hopefully that help you or someone out there.

Can you attempt a realistic drawing with just 1 blue, 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 black and 1 white in whatever medium, but if you use markers and pencils , then the same of each color in both the marker and pencil??

You can go tap the square on the left side of the screen (where the sliders to change the size and opacity of the brush is) and the eyedropper tool will pop up for you to move wherever you want. 😉Hope this helps💙

Hi, fellow Procreate user here. Yes, you can select colors with the pen, just not the way you'd think. On the left, there is a rounded squared icon, if you tap that you can move the eyedropper anywhere to select a colour and you get more visibility out of it aswell.

To select the colours using the pencil press the small square between where you change the opacity and size of the brush and then move the circle that comes up to where you are selecting , sorry if I didn’t explain that well lol ( I’m your biggest fan btw !!!)

I didn't see the answer so if anyone is curious it switch between eraser and pencil because there is a "button" on the pen that will switch if you double tap. Another color selector tool is the square on the left menu bar and then you just drag it where you want 😊

if you tap on the little square underneath the size and above the opacity bar that's the eye drop tool so just press that and you dont have to hold down with your finger :))

The new iPhones don’t come with wall plus in order to keep the boxes slim, therefore using less packaging and therefore, less waste. Plus, apple figures most people have extra plugs laying around from previous devices.

I'm better at digital than traditional and Its fun seeing traditional art people try digital art, it's like seeing a baby or a child doing a thing for the first time!

I’m a digital and traditional artist! I do prefer more digital because it’s easier for me to color and shade, I do not use Procreate I use a program call Ibis Paint which is a free drawing app for mobile. I really want to try Procreate in the future and I’m very confident because I’ve watched my friends use it so I know the basics. Also I know you traced the nails but just Incase you didn’t know I think there’s a button you can press to turn an image into a reference.

Click the square in the middle of the brush size and opacity, then a spot you'd like to colorpick, to do it with the pencil

I thought I should try digital art 2 years ago I was doing it on a small Wacom then I forgot about my Wacom and digital art and went back to traditional then I tried ibispaint on my phone it was so hard I gave up but when I got my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil I was hooked with digital art and now I think it’s easier to do digital art after I got good at it but it is only “easy” if you have experience with digital by doing it a lot.

i don’t know if anyone has answered this yet, but you can tap that little square on the side hotbar and it brings the color drop circle up! from there you can use your pencil to drag it to a color :)

For those arguing about if digital art is harder than traditional art, or if traditional art is harder than digital art, There equivalent, they both Require skills and technique to doing sertain things, i personally do traditional art mostly, but i do digital art aswell. I feel proud being able to draw Digitally and On Paper, especially because I don't even have a tablet pen, and I use Ibis paint x for digital art because I don't use a iPad so I can't use procreate , I mostly draw DigitallyTo Save My Paper, btw great art! .

Digital for me is much easier because sometimes the blending isn't what I expected when im doing traditional art and when erasing a mistake it leaves a residue and maybe ruins the art :((

I work at Apple HQ and I can tell you. So basically we just don’t want to make the charging bricks for the iPhones because it uses up all of our materials and we don’t sell ipad charging brick so that’s why only the iPads coem with them.

The iPads still come with charging bricks because iPads require more power than the ones the iPhone’s default chargers came with in order to charge. The reason why iPhones ditched the chargers in the box was so they could make the boxes a lot smaller. By removing the charger the iPhone’s box shrunk 50%, allowing for more iPhones to fit on a shipping pallet. Course the “many people still have chargers so we’re getting rid of it for environment reasons” is another reason, but the real reason was just so they could shrink the box size. Since the iPad boxes are massive already, getting rid of the charging brick wouldn’t make a difference in shrinking box size, especially since a lot of people are getting iPads as laptop replacements so getting rid of the charger wouldn’t make sense

If I say who is a traditional art and he/she is starting digital art for the first time it's hard ik the tools you need to learn by yourself and after learning it you will see it's easy but sometimes and some vids have that type of things they tell some ppl don't understand but if you learn by yourself you will see you can learn it
